From the Pastor’s Desk Del Escritorio del Pastor
Dear parishioners and friends:
HAPPY ADVENT
It is hard to believe that today we begin the
Liturgical Season of Advent. Christmas is less than a
month away. If you are like me you are thinking,
“where has the year gone?” All around us the world is
getting ready for Christmas. The Malls are decorated
and Santa has arrived as he listens patiently to anxious
children. Television and newspapers are full of
advertisements. As the song goes, ‘it is the most
wonderful time of the year.’ Soon you will be asked
by family and friends: “are you ready for Christmas?”
This year, let’s together get ready spiritually for
Christmas because despite what the world wants to tell
us, Christmas is a religious holiday. I hope you can
attend Mass every weekend and if possible, during the
week. Make certain your Christmas decorations at
home include a Manger scene with the Holy Family. I
encourage you and your family to attend our Parish
Advent Concert, to be held at St. Luke’s on Sunday,
December 4 at 6:30 p.m. I also encourage you to pray
the Christmas Novena Prayer, beginning on the Feast
of St. Andrew the Apostle on November 30. It is a
prayer my Mom taught me when I was young. You
should pray the prayer fifteen (15) times a day until
Christmas. This beautiful prayer will help you
increase your awareness of the real meaning of
Christmas.
CHRISTMAS NOVENA PRAYER
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the
Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at
midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that
hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee, O my God, to hear
my prayer and grant my request, [mention your
request]. I pray through the merits of Our Savior,
Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother. Amen.
I wish you and your family a Blessed Advent.
God Bless you and your family, Father Vince
Queridos feligreses y amigos:
Adviento,
Que Dios te bendiga ti y a tu familia. Padre Vicente

Stewards Prepare
“Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your
Lord will come.” MATTHEW 24:42
People who have had health issues or near-death experiences
generally have a greater appreciation for each day being a gift
from God. The rest of us usually take for granted that we will be
around tomorrow. But when in living Stewardship you start to
look at each day as a gift, you realize all the little miracles that
happen daily and grow in gratitude for all that we have been given.

Wednesday, December 7, 2016 Immediately following the Vigil Mass for the Feast of Immaculate Conception - St. Lawrence Church
Please join us for coffee, tea and snacks at the gathering space.
Prayer in the spirit of Taize Community is a meditative form of common prayer. Gathered in the presence of Christ we sing
uncomplicated, repetitive songs, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become tangible through the beauty
of simplicity. A few words sung over and over again reinforce the meditative quality of prayer. They express a basic reality of faith
that can quickly be grasped by the intellect and that gradually penetrates the whole being.

Holy Hour for Vocations
First Thursdays is a monthly Holy Hour for Vocations hosted
by different parishes throughout the diocese. For young men
thinking about the priesthood, it is a chance to spend time in
prayer before the Blessed Sacrament asking the Lord to make
one’s calling clear. For others, it is an opportunity to come
together and beg the Lord to bless our diocese with more
priests in the near future.
Please join us December 1: Holy Hour for Vocations:
7-8 p.m. @ St. Luke
