Our Lady of Fatima September 8, 2019

Si Alguno Quiere Seguirme Jesús esta en camino. Sabemos que sube a Jerusalén en compañía de sus discípulos. Una gran muchedumbre camina también con el. Pero aquí Jesús ya no hace milagros, ya no predica a las multitudes. . . se dedica a instruir a sus discípulos: “volviéndose a sus discípulos, les dijo: “si alguno quiere seguirme y no me prefiere a su padre y a su madre, a su esposa y a sus hijos, a sus hermanos y hermanas, mas aun, a si mismo, no puede ser mi discípulo. Y el que no carga su cruz y me sigue, no puede ser mi discípulo.” Con estas palabras Jesús quiere dejar muy claro que seguirlo, ser su compañero de camino o su discípulo, no es empresa fácil. Esto es algo que requiere constancia, fuertes convicciones, libertad para poner a Jesús como centro, como principio y fundamento, frente a toda persona, cosa, posición, trabajo, proyecto. Una vez mas, Jesús recurre a las parábolas para que sus discípulos ponderen y tomen conciencia de los riesgos y dificultades que conlleva el seguimiento: “¿Quién de ustedes, si quiere construir una torre, no se pone primero a calcular el costo. Para ver si tiene con que terminarla?” Segur a Jesús no es una decisión que se pueda tomar a la ligera, en un momento de euforia, así sin mas ni mas. Hay que saber a donde y con que contamos: “¿O que rey que va a combatir a otro rey, no se pone primero a considerar si será capaz de salir con Díez mil soldados al encuentro del que viene contra el con veinte mil?” Jesús insiste finalmente: “Cualquiera de ustedes que no renuncie a todos sus bienes, no puede ser mi discípulo.” Una invitación al desprendimiento, a no apegarse a ninguna cosa fuera de el.

If anyone wants to follow me Jesus is on his way. We know that he goes up to Jerusalem in the company of his disciples. A large crowd also walks with him. Once again, Jesus resorts to parables so that his disciples ponder and become aware of the risks and difficulties involved in following up: “Who of you, if you want to build a tower, does not start calculating the cost first. To see if you have to finish it? ”To follow Jesús is not a decision that can be taken lightly, in a moment of euphoria, just like that. It is necessary to know where and with which we count: "Or what king who is going to fight another king, does not put himself first to consider if he will be able to go out with Ten thousand soldiers to meet the one who comes against him with twenty thousand?" Jesus finally insists: "Any one of you who does not give up all his goods cannot be my disciple." An invitation to detachment, not to stick to anything outside of him.

The Church celebrates on September 5 the feast of Mother Teresa, a universal symbol of God's merciful and preferential love for the poor and forgotten. Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia, the youngest of three children. She attended a youth group called Sodality, run by a Jesuit priest at her parish, and her involvement opened her to the call of service as a missionary nun.

She joined the Sisters of Loretto at age 17 and was sent to Calcutta where she taught at a high school. She contracted Tuberculosis and was sent to rest in Darjeeling. It was on the train to Darjeeling that she received her calling - what she called "an order" from God to leave the convent and work and live among the poor. At this point she did not know that she was to found an order of nuns, or even exactly where she was to serve. "I knew where I belonged, but I did not know how to get there," she said once, recalling the moment on the train.

Confirmation of the calling came when the Vatican granted her permission to leave the Sisters of Loretto and fulfill her calling under the Archbishop of Calcutta. She started working in the slums, teaching poor children, and treating the sick in their homes. She was joined a year later by some of her former students and together they took in men, women, and children who were dying in the gutters along the streets and cared for them.

In 1950 the Missionaries of Charity were born as a congregation of the Diocese of Calcutta and in 1952 the government granted them a house from which to continue their service among Calcutta's forgotten.

The congregation very quickly grew from a single house for the dying and unwanted to nearly 500 around the world. Mother Teresa set up homes for AIDS sufferers, for prostitutes, for battered women, and orphanages for poor children.

She often said that the poorest of the poor were those who had no one to care for them and no one who knew them. And she often remarked with sadness and desolation of millions of souls in the developed world whose spiritual poverty and loneliness was such an immense cause of suffering.

She was a fierce defender of the unborn saying: "If you hear of some woman who does not want to keep her child and wants to have an abortion, try to persuade her to bring him to me. I will love that child, seeing in him the sign of God's love."

Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997 and was beatified only six years later, on October 19, 2003.

Mother Teresa once said, "A sacrifice to be real must cost, must hurt, must empty ourselves. The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, the fruit of service is peace." She also said, "give yourself fully to God. He will use you to accomplish great things on the condition that you believe much more in His love than in your own weakness."

Un día como el 4 de septiembre, el Papa Francisco canonizó a la Madre Teresa de Calcuta, a la que calificó como “una generosa dispensadora de la misericordia divina”, una de las figuras más icónicas de la Iglesia Católica y el mundo en el siglo XX. La Misa de canonización se celebró en 2016, un día domingo en la Plaza de San Pedro en el Vaticano. Se calcula que asistieron cerca de 120 mil personas provenientes de todas partes del mundo.

Este evento se realizó en el marco del Jubileo de la Misericordia, proclamado por el Papa Francisco, que tuvo lugar del 8 de diciembre de 2015 al 20 de noviembre de 2016. El Pontífice presidió la celebración desde un altar instalado en el atrio de la Basílica de San Pedro.

En el balcón principal del templo se colgó el retrato oficial de la religiosa para la canonización, que se tituló: “Santa Teresa de Calcuta: Portadora del Amor de Dios", realizado por el artista estadounidense Chas Fagan, por encargo de los Caballeros de Colón.

Cuando inició la Eucaristía se presentó un relicario que contenía los cabellos y sangre de Santa Teresa de Calcuta. Tenía forma de cruz con un corazón de color blanco y azul, que aludía al sari que usaba la religiosa.

Durante la Misa, el Prefecto de la Congregación para la Causa de los Santos, Cardenal Angelo Amato, hizo la petición al Santo Padre para que la religiosa sea inscrita en el libro de los santos y se leyó una breve reseña biográfica.

Luego se cantaron las letanías de los santos y el Papa Francisco leyó la fórmula de canonización.

En su homilía, el Pontífice exhortó a los fieles a preguntarse “¿Cuál es la voluntad de Dios en mi vida?”.

Recordó que el “seguimiento de Jesús es un compromiso serio y al mismo tiempo gozoso” y afirmó que la Madre Teresa durante toda su vida fue “una generosa dispensadora de la misericordia divina, poniéndose a disposición de todos por medio de la acogida y la defensa de la vida humana”.

El Papa también expresó su deseo de que “esta incansable trabajadora de la misericordia nos ayude a comprender cada vez más que nuestro único criterio de acción es el amor gratuito, libre de toda ideología y de todo vínculo y derramado sobre todos sin distinción de lengua, cultura, raza o religión”.

"La misericordia ha sido para ella la ‘sal’ que daba sabor a cada obra suya, y la ‘luz’ que iluminaba las tinieblas de los que no tenían ni siquiera lágrimas para llorar su pobreza y sufrimiento", destacó.

En la ceremonia estuvieron presentes la Superiora General de las Misioneras de la Caridad, la congregación fundada por la Santa Teresa de Calcuta, la hermana Prema Pierick; y Marcílio Haddad Andrino, el brasilero cuya curación producida gracias a la intercesión de la religiosa permitió el milagro para la canonización.

If you would like to register for this group, please call or stop by the office during office hours and register for these Sacraments of iniciation. Don’t leave this for later.

Grupo RICA. Tambien se están registrando adultos mayores de 18 años para la formación y preparacion de los Sacramentos de Iniciacion. Si usted es uno de las personas que no ha recibido uno de estos sacramentos: Bautizo, Confirmacion o Comunion comuníquese a la oficina para empezar las clases de preparacion. No deje este después.

Reunión de Padres de Familia de la Catequesis. El viernes, Septiembre 13, 2019 empezando con la celebración de la Eucaristía a las 7:00 PM los padres de familia de los niños de la Catequesis tendrán la primera reunión antes de empezar las clases de Catequesis. Esperamos contar con su asistencia.
