INFANT BAPTISMS For children under 7 years of age, the sacrament is celebrated the FIRST Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. The parents must register in the parish office at least 4 weeks prior to the baptism. Both parents and godparents are expected to attend one catechetical session in advance, on the Wednesday before the baptism, at 7:00 pm.

SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION Before being fully initiated into the sacramental life of the Church, children over the age of 7 will need catechetical prepa-ration through the RCIC process. Teenagers and adults will par-ticipate in separate RCIA processes. CONFIRMATION and COMMUNION For those already baptized, preparation for these Sacraments will take place according to the person’s age and knowledge of the Catholic Faith. For further information contact the Office of Faith Formation Program.

MARRIAGES Couples should contact the parish office at least six months in advance to make the proper ar rangements for the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Monday, January 21st, is the Martin Luther King Jr. Day and a National Holiday. The Rectory Office will be closed. No Mass at 7 am. The Church will close following the 8:30 am Mass.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Dear Parishioners, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is celebrated this Monday, January 21st. We pray that the vision and work of supporting, insuring and protecting human, God-given rights may always be valued in our country and all over the world. This is a continual work in progress for every generation. Perfect jus-tice and peace will only come at the end of time when all will be put in the proper order in God’s Kingdom. Until then, we must be vigilant and work for justice, peace and God’s love. Last Friday, January 18th, the March for Life took place in Washington D.C.. This addresses the present legalized option to deny the right to life for children in the womb. One way to participate in the struggle for justice for the unborn is to pray. This Tuesday will end the nine day novena for life from January 14-22nd. El día de Martin Luther King Jr. se celebra este lunes, 21 de enero. Oremos por la visión y el trabajo de apoyar, asegurar y proteger los derechos humanos, que Dios nos ha dado, que siempre se pueden valorar en nuestro país y en todo el mundo. Este es un trabajo continuo en progreso para cada generación. La justicia y la paz perfecta solo llegarán al final de los tiem-pos cuando todo se ponga en el orden correcto en el Reino de Dios. Hasta entonces, debemos estar atentos y trabajar por la justicia, la paz y el amor de Dios.

El viernes pasado, 18 de Enero, la Marcha por la Vida se llevo a cabo en Washington D.C .. Esto aborda la opción presente de negar el derecho a la vida de los niños en el útero. Una for-ma de participar en la lucha por la justicia para los no nacidos es rezar. Este martes se acabá la novena vida de nueve días del 14 al 22 de enero. PRO-LIFE CORNER - Back in 1990 we naïvely wrote” God forbid that this blight of abortion still exist in 1990…” Still exist? It’s worse now than ever. We now have partial-birth abortion, euthanasia, Planned Parenthood selling body parts, and vaccine cell lines created from aborted babies. Are you the one God has sent into the world to bring an end to abortion and euthanasia ? Think about it, pray about it, and do something about it. .

ESQUINA PRO-VIDA - .En 1990, ingenuamente escribimos "Dios no permita que esta plaga del aborto todavía exista en 1990 ..." ¿Todavía existe? Es peor ahora que nunca. Ahora tenemos abortos de parto par-cial, eutanasia, Planned Parenthood que vende partes del cuerpo y líneas celulares de vacunas creadas a partir de bebés abortados. ¿Es usted el único que Dios ha enviado al mundo para poner in al aborto y la eutanasia? Piénsalo, ora y haz algo al respecto.

A VISIBLE GOD We find it difficult to convey ideas to people unless we can actually show them something, demonstrate what we mean. God, who is invisible and truly beyond human understanding, apparently faces the same difficulty. People want to see, not just listen to an idea. So God gave us Jesus Christ, God made visible in the world. During these past weeks we have seen how Jesus was revealed as an infant to the shepherds and the magi, and then began his adult “public life” at his baptism by John. Today’s Gospel reading tells us of his “first sign,” providing wine for the wedding guests at Cana. Of course, even Jesus, God made visible, was not always easily understood in his own day, nor is he even now. So we have to ponder what we see: the poverty and simplicity of his birth, his humility and openness before John the Bap-tist, his kindness and compassion toward people in their ordinary problems, such as running short of wine at a wedding. Yet it is in coming to know Jesus that we come to know God.  UN DIOS VISIBLE   Nos resulta di cil transmi r ideas a la gente a menos que le mostremos algo, que le ilustremos lo que queremos decir. Dios, que es invisible y verdaderamente más allá del entendimiento humano, aparentemente  ene la misma dificultad. La gente quiere ver, no solamente quiere escuchar una idea. Por eso Dios nos dio a Jesucristo, Dios hecho visible en el mundo.   En las semanas recientes hemos visto cómo al nacer Jesús es mostrado a los pastores y a los Reyes Magos, y luego empezó su “vida pública” en su bau smo con Juan. El Evangelio de hoy nos habla de su “primer signo”, que es proveer vino para los in-vitados a la boda en Caná.   Por supuesto, hasta a Jesús, que es Dios hecho visible, no siempre se le entendía en su  empo y ni siquiera ahora. Por lo tan-to, tenemos que considerar lo que vemos: la pobreza y simplicidad de su nacimiento, su humildad y franqueza ante Juan Bau sta, su amabilidad y compasión hacia las personas en sus problemas ordinarios, como la falta de vino en una boda. Pero al conocer a Jesús conocemos a Dios.
