IBU 17, ABV 4.5% James Venture Mulligan was the first to find gold in the Palmer River. It was because of his thirst for adventure and tireless efforts that Port Douglas came to be. His story has inspired the refreshing brew you’re holding. HARD YARDS dark lager A malt driven dark lager with characteristics of roast malt, chocolate, and coffee in flavour and aroma. It finishes clean and is more sessionable than it looks. IBU 11, ABV 4.7% In 1877, when gold was found, The Bump Track was the only road to Port Douglas and it was no leisurely Sunday drive. Unforgiving and treacherous, it brought meaning to the term ‘no pain, no gain’. MR WONG hefeweizen A traditionally styled Hefeweizen with prominent clove and banana aroma, medium body, low bitterness and tart, spritzy character from increased carbonation provides for a refreshing finish. IBU 8, ABV 5.2% Surprisingly to many, it was the Chinese who first introduced bananas into Australia. Chinese workers like Mr Wong left the goldfields for another kind of gold, the banana. Fortunately for us, these versatile pioneers established plantations in the 1800’s around Cooktown, Port Douglas, Cairns, Innisfail and Tully. PITCHFORK BETTY’S pale ale A flavourful Pale Ale with biscuity and caramel sweetness balanced by a hearty bitterness and distinct citrussy and tropical fruit hop aroma.. IBU 35, ABV 5.1% She ruled a local watering hole not with an iron fist, but with her trusted and slightly rusted pitchfork. A staunch defender of the good times and good life in Port Douglas, she has inspired the beer you hold in your hand. DOUG’S COURAGE – xpa A full bodied and flavoured XPA with intense citrus and resinous hop bitterness and aroma complimented by a toffee and caramel malty backbone. IBU 41, ABV 5.6% March 16, 1911 - the day when Port Douglas was levelled by the mother of all cyclones. Battered but hardly beaten, a band of courageous locals rebuilt to continue the story of this place we love. TUNNEL 10 lager A light bodied, refreshing, clean lager with a subtle, grassy spicy hop note and crisp finish. IBU 18, ABV 4.2% In 1910, during the construction of the Cairns - Karunda railway, a landslide downed Tunnel 10 and the supply of ale. With brains, brawn and beer as motivation, workers perilously rolled barrels of brew around a mountain to ensure cheer was served - cheers to that.
