NEWSLETTER
KAREN’S KORNER
Well, another busy month comes to an end and we’re
hurling headlong into Autumn. The next thing you know,
we’ll be putting up the Christmas decorations!
We were thrilled to retain our 5* rating for Food Hygiene
and also to be given an award by the CCG recognising the
innovative care we are providing at Kepplegate Care
Services. As always, we continue to try to improve and
welcome any feedback you might have. Which nicely
brings me round to remind you that the next Relatives’
Rendezvous is going to be held on Wednesday, 9th
October. We’d love to see as many of you as possible
and there’ll be a delicious hotpot waiting for you! Please
let us know if you’ll be joining us so that we can have a
guestimate for the catering. Looking forward to seeing
you then.

JEANS FOR GENES
Thanks to everyone who took part in
our Jeans for Genes day. We raised £20
which will go towards transforming the
lives of some of the most vulnerable
children in the U.K. Some ways in which
fundraising money is used are providing
invaluable family support sessions,
funding specialist nurses, paying for
children with complex needs to
experience holiday activity clubs and
funding specialist equipment.

AWARDS
Kepplegate had an unannounced food hygiene inspection a couple of weeks ago …. just when
Sarah G was on holiday and Gill had left for the day! Anyway, all was well and we retained our
5* rating, so well done everyone.
There was also a “Working in Collaboration” award presented to Adam at a recent CCG event
for Kepplegate’s contribution in helping to change and
improve the way care is provided. Aren’t we great?!!
As we say farewell to
September for another
year, Karen found these
interesting facts about the
month in general and
about our local history in
particular.

Many congratulations to Trevor and Veronica from all at Kepplegate on reaching their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. We
had a lovely afternoon celebrating with a little party and toasting the happy couple with Bucks Fizz. Pauline sent a photo
and article to the Gazette which was printed the following week. Trevor and Veronica met at a dance at the Winter Gardens
and were married two years later in 1959
Congratulations to Jayne who became

daughter, Lucy, gave birth to Rowan,

Lilia’s daughter, Alice, and Pauline’s daughter, Sian, have been busy fundraising for charities. Alice has been
performing shows at the Lowther Pavilion in “Concert for Christie’s”. Meanwhile, Sian
cycled through some pretty awful weather for 5
days for the tower
to tower ride
(Blackpool to the
Eiffel) to raise
money for the
Carer’s Centre.
FRUITY FRIDAY
Kepplegate again joined in with Nutrition & Hydration’s “Fruity Friday”, a scheme designed to raise
awareness of the importance of older people eating and drinking sufficiently to keep in good health.
Sarah G excelled herself with her display of fruit and Adam brought in a chocolate fountain, which all led to
quite a tasty afternoon!

5 SIR REGINALD RIDES IN!
Audrey’s daughter,
Nicky, brought her
rescue donkey, Sir
Reginald, to meet
the family at
Kepplegate and
what a hit he was!
Everyone enjoyed
stroking him and
feeding him carrots
and Nicky has
promised to bring
him back again very
soon.
Nicky rescued Sir
Reginald when he
was very young from
Kirby Lonsdale
where he had been
beaten. Thankfully,
she has been able to
give him a loving
home during the 9
years since that time.
VISIT FROM THE CUBS
Stalmine Beavers had such a nice time at
Kepplegate earlier in the year that the leader of the
Cubs asked if she could bring in her group. The
children were given a short talk about the services
Kepplegate provides and then enjoyed playing
games with the family .
