UNIFIED GPON / SECURITY SOLUTIONS
Overview Gigabit passive optical networks (GPON) are a point‐to‐multipoint, fibre to the home network architecture in which un‐powered optical splitters are used to enable a single optical fibre or redundant pair to serve network terminals at multiple locations, typically 4, 8, 16 and 32 per splitter. These networks are the perfect solution for environments with multiple separated nodes / points or buildings. GPON provides for a large range of benefits that enable rapid, flexible, mass‐market fibre deployments at the lowest possible cost of ownership and rollout. Combining full IP‐based connectivity and the latest fibre to the end point innovations, gigabit passive optical networks (GPON) are increasingly appearing as the key mature network technology. Optical Solutions Australia GPON solutions can deliver very fast broadband speeds to the end‐user allowing the network operator to offer advanced triple play services to end users, utilising a single fibre connection to the network terminal, these include:
CCTV & Webcam
Security Systems
Interactive Signage “PIDS”
Video on Demand
High Speed Internet
PMS Integration
Standard or High Definition IPTV
Fire Detection Systems
Access Control & Door Entry
VoIP Telephony
Traditional Analogue Telephony
Automated Minibar Systems
EPOS Terminals
Wi‐Fi Access Node Lowest total cost of ownership: Less central office space, hardware, cabling, and power plus efficient use of fibre optic cable all make the GPON a very attractive, inexpensive and feasible architecture for network operators. CALIX GPON also achieves far higher bandwidth speeds and efficiencies than other common network delivery systems, particularly when the opportunities for overlaying analogue services such as CCTV , Intercom, Access Control, Security and cable TV etc. are factored in.
Suitable applications include:
City Wide Networks
Transport Networks
Residential Apartment Blocks
Resort style hotels
Campus style office environments including University & College Campuses
Theme Parks & Marinas GPON benefits include:
Supports features like legacy data, Cable TV, Analogue Voice, Fire Detection and Security, CCTV, whilst offering outstanding Bandwidth efficiency and using Quality of Service (QoS), providing the network operator the ability to create profit‐generating applications and customised service offerings to the end users.
Outside Plant lifetime plus 50 years
Environmentally friendly; uses over 50% less power than equivalent copper cabled systems.
Fully integrated triple play solution to deliver HD TV, Internet and phone services over the same platform.
Offers a real future‐proof access network with flexibility and upgrade capability well into the future.
Passive optical splitters eliminate outside plant and field power requirements, resulting in much lower Capital and Operating Expenditure than copper Networks as no power is required for the backbone network.
Easy management, accounting and upgrade with flexibility and scalability.
Fibre is also very much lighter in weight than copper, important when considering the services requirements in very large buildings and all forms of transport.
Optical fibre is also resilient to ingress of external signals and spurious interference.
In summary, the key advantages of optical fibre are: Less expensive, long term investment, less power consumption, Higher bandwidth capacity, Better Image quality, Nonconductive, Long distance signal transmission, and Lightweight. Gigabit Passive Optical Networks offer a real future‐proof access network with flexibility and upgrade capability well into the future
