OSA ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORTAY 2010-2011

BatStateU - Rosario

I. NARRATIVE REPORTThe 2010-2011 year was extremely busy and productive for the Office of Student

Affairs. The number of Student Organizations in our campus increased to 11. I was fortunate to be part of the new initiatives across the campus and accomplished many goals in seeking an increasingly significant role in providing quality service to the students of the University and in developing the youth to become effective leaders; moreover, in providing significant information relative to the student organizations to help achieve the University goals and objectives. The Office of Student Affairs together with the eleven accredited student organizations focused in accomplishing different activities and projects. They worked hand in hand in doing their tasks. It was evident with their accomplishment reports that each association provided support to other organizations in the implementation of their plans. However, AITS concentrated on activities directly related to its department (e.g. attended Youth Congress in Information Technology and organized CIT Days and CIT Night). The AGES performed activities which were not usually performed by the organization (Super Quiz Bee, AGES Team Building, Field Trip and Invitational Mathematical Challenge). SAM officers and members involved themselves in beautifying the classrooms assigned to students under the CABEIHM and in organizing an educational trip, seminar and fair. On the other hand, TESA and FSA were not that active this year, an Educational Trip and a program concerning “Linggo ng Wika” Celebration were the activities they held respectively. Other activities they engaged with were not merely organized by them. The SSC nevertheless, engrossed more on participating to trainings/ seminars which could develop their leadership potentials. Moreover, the organization also performed the activities they usually organize yearly --- General Acquaintance Party, Leadership Training and Teachers and Foundation Day Celebration. Kanlungan Pilipinas and CRCYC, two newly accredited organizations, pondered on doing volunteering and facilitating activities (Leadership and Team Building Seminars and Extension Services). JBZCT, as the organization’s name implies, got busy on activities wherein they can showcase their talents in singing and dancing. Nonetheless, CAMIRO dealt with spiritual activities and blessing sharing. Last but not the least, Honor Society had extended help to one of the busiest offices in the campus --- The Scholarship Office.

II. ACCOMPLISHMENTSBy means of the conscientious effort of the Office of Student Affairs

Coordinator thru the aid of different organizations advisers and officers the following actions were accomplished:

1. Evaluated to approve or disapprove the recommended faculty advisers of student organizations endorsed by their officers or by the colleges/schools/departments concerned.

2. Together with the OSD and OGC Coordinators, conducted orientation programs for freshmen students at the beginning of the semester.

3. Organized the files of previous and current reports.4. Supervised the operation of the Supreme Student Council, College Councils and

other campus-based organizations.5. Served as the Adviser of the Supreme Student Council and Kanlungan Pilipinas

BatStateU-Rosario Chapter.6. Advised and/or supervised all student government councils in the implementation

of their constitution and by-laws, holding of election, handling of finances, processing of membership, fund-raising efforts, leadership trainings, involvement in community- or national-oriented activities, documentation, and other pertinent concerns and issues of student governance.

7. Promote linkages with professional organizations for support in the student

Page 15: OSA Accomplishment Report

formation and development programs by sending student leaders to attend regional/national seminars or by inviting speakers of national caliber.

8. Encouraged active involvement of student activities not only in school and local matters, but also in external matters that could hone their social and political awareness on relevant current national issues.

9. Coordinated with the SSC whenever there are grievance complaints lodged against any member of the University community.

10.Monitored, reviewed, evaluated and made a regular report on the basic student services put into operation in the campus.

11. Issued gate pass, excuse slip, waiver, etc.12.Assisted student groups in their requests for the use of University facilities.13.Directed the various organizations in the campus to keep their bulletin boards

properly utilized, updated and maintained.14.Processed requests for student ID replacements, certifications for students and

advisers related to student affairs activities, etc.15.Reviewed the application for renewal and/or recognition of the various student

organizations.16.Approved /disapproved requests for posting of announcements. 17.Supported different activities performed by other departments and offices.18.Performed other related tasks as required by higher authority.

III. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED Hardship in requesting for the needed fund (SSC) Lack of participation/ cooperation from other organization’s officers and

members Lack of preparation in some activities Lack of fund especially for non-profit organization Busy schedules of organizations’ officers Sometimes bad weather Lack of participants in some contests/ competitions held Inefficient time management Inadequate budget for the accomplishment of project Delayed payment of students’ contribution for the organized activity Limited number of members of some organizations The expected amount of collection for the membership fee was not

achieved because some of the members dropped out Place for dance rehearsals Sincerity in attending the seminars and department activities Clarifications of the information and some announcement

IV. SUGGESTIONS AND/OR RECOMMENDATIONS SSC should be given the rights to handle their own fund Strategy to motivate organization’s officers and members to participate

and cooperate in different activities; Encourage them nicely to get involved with the activity

Comply with the action plan Think of an income generating project to raise fund for the activities of the

organization Delegate the tasks to other organization’s officers or members whose

schedule is not that busy Set contingency plans for every activity Promote the contests/ competition earlier to gather enough number of

participants Avoid procrastination; proper time management Coordinate with the president of different class organizations Have an effective campaign to recruit new members Room allotment for dance rehearsal

Page 16: OSA Accomplishment Report

Other organizations should be properly informed of their duties during the activity

Inform the students immediately and earlier about the contribution they have to contribute

Activities should be in accordance with the interest of students to assure support from them

BARANGAY INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT APPROACH FOR NUTRITION IMPROVEMENTfrom November, 2010 to present

With an end in mind to be of service not only to the studentry but also to the community, the OSA Coordinator of BatStateU-Rosario involved herself in a long-run extension service called BIDANI (Barangay Integrated Development Approach for Nutrition Improvement). This extension program is a collaborative project of the Local Government Unit of Rosario, Batangas State University and University of the Philippines Los Baños. This is a community-based participatory development approach to help improve governance, and food and nutrition security of the rural villages in the Philippines.
