This is Fi h Sunday of Easter and I want to keep you informed. The weekly

offertory collec on received from parishioners during this pandemic has

been: Palm Sunday: $11,000.00

Easter: $7,400.00 Second Sunday of Easter:

$5,300.00 In addi on a loan of $54,000.00 was granted to us by the Diocese of Lafaye e with the understanding that the s mulus plan from the Federal Government would forgive (but we are awai ng final decision). We will pray and see what happens in this regard. So the proverbial saying applies, “we are hanging on a wing and a prayer” hoping that the closure of churches, restaurants, and other establishments will be able to open by this wri ng or no later than June. With the aforemen oned said, I please ask parishioners to con nue contribu ng to sustain YOUR parish in all aspects. A few projects have to be on hold now (under former pastor’s decision with Paul Allen Architects), i.e., Church & Rectory repairs (over $900,000.00). And, THANK YOU to all who have been very suppor ve by prayers, concern, and support financially. This has indeed been edifying. When things get back to “normal”, ac vi es will resume, but most importantly the celebra on publicly of the Holy Eucharist. And, also, with many, many more things that are on my agenda: Senior Movie and Luncheon with Pastor, Establishment of a Youth Group, Children’s Church, Home Visita ons, Pilgrimages in U.S. and abroad, and other opportuni es for spiritual growth (as you have received Black Lenten booklets and white Easter Booklets). I have only been here five (5) months, and some naysayers like to make their voices heard by contac ng the dean of this region or diocese rather than speaking to the pastor directly (as Sophia would say on the Golden Girls Sitcom, “look Dorothy I’m shaking”…lol).

I will not be deterred or affected by said except for praying for them. But it s ll begs the ques on, why? This has come to us ALL when we did not expect it – out of the blue this pandemic arose. The proverbial quote is today more relevant than ever: “man proposes but God disposes”. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI said providen ally that we would become a smaller church but a greater one through prayer, devo on, acts of charity, devo on to our Blessed Mother, but above all to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Let’s us heed this wise man’s words. And our works for God do not have to be adver sed or for the show and glow. Keep praying quietly – He hears. With much love and great affec on, I remain,

Jan. 20-28, 2021 – March for Life Week in Washington, D.C. Fr. Mouton & others.

As reported previously in numerous bulletins, please give prayerful consideration for attending with me. Know that usually it is cold and snowing so one would have to prepare accordingly; but I will apprise you as the time draw nearer of weather conditions. God Bless to all. Even though I usually stay at the Josephite Seminary in D.C., when I take larger groups we make reservations at Embassy Suites Hotel in Crystal City, Virginia just three miles from our Nation’s Capital and one mile from Washington National Airport (Ronald Reagan). Therefore, it depends on the interest of individuals and/or families as to our options for accommodations.

We will attend the annual Mass for Life at the National Cathedral Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception the evening before and then the March the following day

beginning at 11:00a.m. with meal following at Union Station, Dubliner Irish Pub, Josephite Seminary Refectory, or Hotel restaurant. Again, please call if you are interested in this pilgrimage.

Pro-Life Corner!

For all mothers: May they be supported and encouraged as they fulfill their vocation, especially during this difficult time. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer! Mother’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the beautiful vocation of motherhood

and the gift of life. It calls us to cherish the gift of life that we receive from our mothers and to pray for all women to whom God has entrusted life in a very special way. We also specifically remember mothers experiencing unexpected or difficult pregnancies and pray they may find support and encouragement in choosing life for their children.

There is a wonderful family from my previous assignment of St. Anne’s in Youngsville, Larry and Gladys Lasseigne, who have generously provided me with several of their condos in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for the past 8 years where my dear mother, Dolores, myself, several priests, other family members ( my brother and sister with their families) and Deacon Boutte’ have enjoyed. It is an absolute oasis in the Great Smokey Mountains. There are SO many attractions in the area which includes: Dollywood, Holly Wood Wax Museum, Gatlinburg Sky Lift, Several wineries, Titanic Museum, the Island in Pigeon Forge (huge outdoor mall with stores), Alcatraz Crime Museum, Wonderworks Museum, and many, many more attractions and excursions. Take a family vocation and secure one of these cabins…it will be a real treat for you and your family and friends. It’s about a 13/14 hour drive but me and my mom, my siblings, and friends, would always break it up a day ahead and stay in Birmingham, Alabama and then continue the rest of our journey to arrive around noon. In Birmingham, Al, we would always stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Birmingham Se/Liberty Park – very clean and a nice breakfast (Buffet for about $11.00 per person).

Again this couple has four (4) cabins for rental: 1) Point of View – 2 Bedrooms

2) Mother’s Dream – 3 Bedrooms 3) Applewood Manor – 4 Bedrooms

4)Appalachian – 5 bedrooms which will open in October (sleeps 16).

Applewood Manor is located less than ½ mile from Dollywood Theme Park and has a beautiful view of the Mountains and you can hear the trains whistle from the cabins porch. Each cabin has a heated pool and a game room (pool table, foo's ball machine).

For more information until June go to Cabinsforyou.com and after, Smokey Mountain Cabins of Tennessee. As per my friends, if you would like the Owner’s referral discount one can contact Larry Lasseigne at 280-0909 and please tell him or his wife that they read the aforementioned information in our church bulletin. I will be going again this year and staying at Mother’s Dream in Pigeon Forge, TN July 17-22 with family members and friends.

Prayer for Safety in Hurricane Season

“God, master of this passing world, hear the humble voices

of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude. You are still the master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control: the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season we turn to you, O loving father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time. O virgin, star of the sea, Our beloved mother, we ask you to plead with your son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your divine son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a storm less eternity awaits us. Amen.” Bishop Maurice Schexnayder

Note: Hurricane season begins June 1st. Let us all pray to the Lord

to spare us once again from another catastrophe.

Thank You! To…Brenda

Courville who has been decorating our

church’s altar so beautifully every

Sunday with floral arrangements, Palm Sunday, Easter, and other special

occasions. To…Tammy Leblanc, Deacon Wynard Boutte’, Lou Champagne (Lector on

April 26) and Pat Melancon for assisting with the live streaming of the Mass from

our parish. Parishioners have responded how very grateful they are for this means of viewing the Sacred Liturgy from their own church parish.

From the Diocese! As you’re aware, the Year of St. Joseph was set to begin on March 19th of this year. In light of our current situation, those opening

events were canceled. After meeting with the bishop, we’ve decided to adjust our schedule. The year will now open on Sunday, August 16th,

2020. At Saturday anticipated Masses and Sunday Masses of that weekend, the bishop is

directing all parishes to celebrate the Votive Mass of St. Joseph with its accompanying readings

instead of the usual 20th Sunday of Ordinary Time (GIRM 374). This weekend will also be an

opportunity: To celebrate St. Joseph Altars, especially for those parishes who were unable to celebrate this past March.

To place Bishop Deshotel’s pastoral le er in bulle ns

To preach on the person and life of St. Joseph, emphasizing his adora on, obedience, and service

To distribute the Year of St. Joseph commemora ve booklet

Additionally, Bishop Deshotel will celebrate two opening events: Opening Mass at St. Joseph in Patterson on Sunday, August 16th at 9:00am; and Adoration & Evening Prayer at the Cathedral on Sunday, August 16th at 6:00pm. The year will close on Saturday, May 1st, 2021. Bishop Deshotel will celebrate a Closing Mass at St. Joseph’s in Milton on Saturday, May 1st at 10:00am, with food and music following on the grounds there in Milton.

Our 13 St. Joseph’s parishes, each deanery, as well as the offices and ministries at the chancery

are also organizing events for the year. We hope to provide each parish with a packet of material

by July 1, 2020.

PLEASE MARK YOUR
