OrcaFlex is a marine dynamics program used to simulate a wide range of offshore systems like marine risers, moorings, installations and towed systems.

Three Dimensional Non Linear Time Domain Finite Element based program.

Capable of handling multi-line systems, floating lines, line dynamics after release etc.

Analysis◦ Full 3D Modeling◦ Extremely quick and robust static and Dynamic analysis.

Numerical Procedures◦ Finite element model with 6 degrees of freedom at each segment end.◦ Choice of implicit (constant or variable time step) or explicit time

integration methods. Data Input

◦ Interactive graphical user interface.◦ Shaded and Wireframe view option.◦ Facilities for RAO Import◦ 3D model drawing can be imported for visual aid.

Result◦ Can be displayed in forms of Graphs(Time history, Range graph, x-y graph)

or can be exported as text or excel spreadsheet format.◦ Multiple animation can be prepared using the wizard and exported in AVI

format.

Problem Statement:

A spar buoy of 10 m Diameter, 30 m long is moored with eight symmetrically placed mooring lines. we are simulating the statics and dynamics of the whole system subjected to dean stream waves of height 5 m and time period 8 seconds; no wind or current is introduced. Depth of the sea bed is 100 m.
