Optimizing Learning Platform to Embrace E-learning TrendsOctober 2015
When was the last time you learned something new?
More importantly, how did you learn it?
Three e-learning trends you cannot ignore
Learn on the go;Anywhere,
anytime
1 2 3Learn fast and apply it right
away
Learn socially and interactively
Learn on the go; anywhere, anytime1
Learning can happen inside or outside the organization, online or offline. With many HR transactions, such as applying for leave and approving appraisals now available on mobile, enabling mobile learning makes it easier and more engaging for employees to learn at their own pace. The challenge is ensuring compatibility and consistency of user experience on multiple devices. Look for learning platforms with regular updates supported by a solid development team.
Learn fast and apply it right away2
We need quick answers to specific problems we face at work. Easy access to personalized and bite-sized content can help employees put knowledge to action and become efficient problem solvers. With so many content providers like SkillSoft, Coursera, Youtube providing ready-to-use content in multi-media format, a single integrated platform is crucial to provide a unified and structured learning experience. It can also serve as a platform for employees to create simple and specialized content, so that they become in-house “teachers” driving organization knowledge sharing and collaboration.
2
Learn socially and interactively3Gamification used to be driven by tech-savvy companies (e.g., Duolingo’s language courses and Code School’s Rails for Zombies). Not anymore, as many organizations are now adopting basic gamification elements, such as internal missions/ accreditations, badges and even learner’s air miles. Educational Entertainment is also trending up with many successful example of companies revamping their classic safety trainings to be fun and interactive. What we learned is that employees learn better with interactive content and are much more engaged when they can interact with each other through collaboration tools that give rapid feedback and allow for crowdsourcing of knowledge and ideas.
