Dorian Parker Community Information Session The City of Barrie is holding a community information session on Thursday, April 27 to share the results of the Dorian Parker consultation and discuss several options for the future of the facility. The options have been developed by staff based on public feedback received at a community consultation in November 2015. Since the 1960’s, the Dorian Parker Centre has been used for social functions, meetings, seminars, recreation programs, banquets and family events. The options presented at this community meeting will be presented to City Council in June. The information session will take place at the Dorian Parker Centre, located at 227 Sunnidale Road, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Anyone who is unable to attend can request a copy of the presentation by emailing [email protected] or calling 705-739-4299. Tax Billing And Installment Due Date Notice The 2017 interim tax bills have been issued to all property owners who are not on a monthly pre-authorized payment plan and who do not have their financial institution pay their taxes. These bills were mailed between January 17th and January 20th, 2017. IF: • a mortgage company is responsible for payment of the taxes, and you have received a bill, please forward the bill to your mortgage company for payment; • a tax arrears notation appears on your tax bill it means that at the time of tax billing there were outstanding taxes and/or penalty owing. Please contact Service Barrie for the current balance outstanding; The second interim installment is due on April 27th, 2017. Penalties/interest will commence on the first day of each month for any late payments. Penalties/Interest are charged at the rate of 1.25% per month. Please be advised that all payments received are applied first to all penalties owing, then the remainder to the taxes owing. PLEASE NOTE: Failure to receive a tax bill does not excuse the property owner from responsibility for payment, nor relieve him/her from liability of penalty for late payment(s). Property owners are encouraged to use an alternative payment option to avoid lineups at Service Barrie during this busy period. Options include: - Telebanking, internet banking (Your 19 digit roll number, found on your tax bill, is your account number). - Payment at any financial institution. - Drop boxes located at City Hall (front entrance off Collier St or entrance at back parking lot). - Mailing in a post dated cheque. - Enrolling in one the City’s Pre-Authorized Payment Plans. The mandate of this Committee is to provide expert community input on the City of Barrie’s public art policies and procedures, giving guidance and advice to City departments, agencies, sponsors, boards and commissions from the earliest stages of public art projects proposed for City-owned lands and potential donations to the City. The Barrie Public Art Committee promotes awareness and understanding of the importance of high-quality public art. The Barrie Public Art Committee encourages the development of public art in Barrie and develops the master plan for public art for the City of Barrie, including a review of existing and future development in Barrie while identifying public art opportunities. The committee meets bimonthly, with subcommittees, including Marketing and Communications, Site Selection and Art, meeting when projects or processes require.
