Construction season is here! It’s that time of year when the City gets to work on improving your roads and infrastructure. This year, we’ll see some bigger projects continue to progress and some much-needed work start. Centennial Park will take shape this year, and construction will begin on Morrow Road which has been no stranger to the CAA’s Worst Roads list.

There will also be more work done to prepare for growth. The widening of Mapleview Drive from Huronia Road to Country Lane will continue and upgrades to sewer and watermains in the south-end will get underway. Construction season brings about some delays and inconveniences, but it’s vital to our city. 2 Asphalt Resurfacing $2.6M Estimated completion date: DEC 2017

Road resurfacing, including removal & restoration of concrete curb, concrete sidewalks and asphalt road on: • Burbank Place - St. Vincent Street to Cul-De-Sac • Hurst Drive - Golden Meadows Road to Big Bay Point Road • St. Vincent Street - Bell Farm Road to Codrington Street • Ferndale Drive - North Limits to Benson Drive • Anne Street - Sunnidale to Edgehill • Cundles Road - Leacock to Sunnidale • Worsley St - Bayfield Street to Mulcaster Street • Ferris Lane - Bayfield Street to Collete Crescent • Mapleview Drive - 650 metre stretch starting at 20th Sideroad, heading west on Mapleview Drive • Mapleview Drive - Starting 130 metres west of Reid Drive to Bryne Drive • Veterans Drive - Mapleview Drive to Caplan Avenue

3 Mapleview Drive – $13.3M Huronia Road to Country Lane Estimated completion date: OCT 2017

Road widening and reconstruction which includes installation of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, watermain and box culverts.

4 Centennial Park Improvements $2.9M Estimated completion date: NOV 2017

Features include: • Two new pathways (bike and pedestrian) with improved lighting • New pedestrian bridge across the Dyment’s Creek channel • Expanded recreation area with event space and new parking lots

RECREATION

• Centennial Beach will remain open with access from the north end and from the washroom building. The washrooms will also remain open.

• A shared-use pedestrian and cycling trail will remain open. The new pedestrian path is expected to open in August.

• The Marina and Tiffin boat launches are open.

• The new pedestrian bridge crossing of Dyment’s Creek will be completed by the end of July.

• The playground is open, with access via the beach and boardwalk.

PARKING • The majority of the South Centennial parking lot (south of Dyment’s Creek) will remain open until after Kempenfest (August 5-7).

• New parking lots located north and south of Victoria Street will open in time for Kempenfest (taking place August 5-7).

• A new parking lot for trailers, adjacent to the marina boat launch is now open.

• Reminder: Barrie residents require a Resident Parking Pass when parking at applicable waterfront lots.

WATER/ENVIRONMENTAL • The reconstruction of Dyment’s Creek channel is complete. Shoreline reconstruction on the south side of Dyment’s Creek adjacent to the South Centennial parking lot will be undertaken from June through July.

5 Cundles & Duckworth $44.5M Estimated completion date: JUNE 2017

This project is almost completed. Some minor work/restorations including installation signs, fencing, tree planting and top lift asphalt on Duckworth to be completed by the end of the month.

6 Royal Oak /Gables (Phase 2) (both phases) $11.94M Estimated completion date: NOV 2018 Phase 2 of Royal Oak Drive - Renew watermain, street lights and roadway. Install sanitary sewers and sidewalks.

7 Dunlop / Miller Intersection $1.53M Estimated completion date: DEC 2017

Reconstruction and widening of Dunlop Street West & Tiffin Street/ Miller Drive Intersection.

8 Morrow Road – Patterson to Ardagh $3.88M Estimated completion date: FALL 2017

Road reconstruction including replacement of sanitary sewer, local watermain, existing culverts and restoration of driveways and ditches.

9 Baldwin Lane & Grove Street – $1.53M Watermain Replacement Estimated completion date: OCT 2017 (Top course asphalt JUNE 2018) Watermain replacement including road restoration, replacement of existing water services on both Baldwin & Grove. Replacement of sanitary sewer on Baldwin Lane.

• Baldwin Lane from Marshall Street to Bayview Drive. • Grove Street from Davies Crescent to Cook Street.

10 Essa Road ROW Replacement $8.85M – Anne to Gowan Estimated completion date: JUNE 2018 Essa Road, Anne to Gowan & Innisfil Street from Essa to Caroline. Installation of storm sewer, sanitary sewer, watermain, traffic signals, curb, sidewalk, boulevards and road restoration.

11 Ashford / Madelaine $4.05 M Transmission Watermain Estimated completion date: DEC 2017 (Top course asphalt JUNE 2018) Installation of transmission watermain with valves and chambers including road restoration from Big Bay Point to Mapleview Drive.

12 Sandringham Transmission $4.12 M Watermain Estimated completion date: DEC 2017 (Top Course asphalt August 2018)

Installation of transmission watermain with valves and chambers including road restoration from Big Bay Point Road to Mapleview Drive.

13 Mapleview Drive – Sanitary $17 M Forcemain Twinning & Pumping Station Upgrades Estimated completion date: SPRING 2019 Upgrades to Holly Pumping Station & twinning of the sanitary forcemain on Mapleview Drive.

14 Rodney Street – $900K Collingwood to Kempenfelt Estimated completion date: NOV 2017 Road reconstruction including replacement of existing watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewer and installation of new concrete sidewalk.

15 Johnson Street – $1.47M Shanty Bay to Johnson’s Beach Estimated completion date: DEC 2017 Road reconstruction of Johnson Street from Shanty Bay Road to Lake Simcoe including replacement of the existing storm outlet, new watermain and replacement sanitary forcemain.
