  • Upgrade of OpenStage Phones / OptiPoint Phones / Octophone Phones / Personal Edition and OptiPoint WL2 on the OpenScape Office and OpenScape Business Due to a harmonization of the system and device SW of HFA phones, it is now mandatory to update the device software. This procedure is necessary for OpenScape Office >= V3 R3.8.0 or OpenScape Business >= V1 R2.1.0, but does not apply to TDM and SIP devices. If the devices are not upgraded to versions mentioned below, no telephony will be possible with those devices. The HFA devices must have the following version or higher:

o OpenStage HFA device V2 R1.2.1 o OptiPoint HFA device V5 R7.1.0 o Octophone HFA V5 R7.1.0 o OpenScape Desktop Client Personal Edition HFA V7 R1.21.2 (Manual upgrade of the

software is necessary because the update is not performed by the system) o OptiPoint WL2 (Change to SIP)

Our recommendation is to upgrade the devices prior to performing the update of the system. The device software is available for download on the SWS server. This will cause a more smoothly transmission to the new software because not all devices are upgraded automatically (e.g. not currently active devices). Please copy the devices software (version mentioned above or higher) into the system and perform a manual upgrade of the devices. For Optipoint WL2 (HFA) and OpenScape Personal Edition please follow the instructions in this document.

The current version of all devices is shown in Web Based Management under Service Center Diagnostics Status (see screenshot1).

  • Screenshot 1 Another option is to perform the upgrade of the system and the devices at the same time. After the upgrade and activation of the system software (OpenScape Office >=V3 R3.8.0 or OpenScape Business >=V1 R2.1.0), the automatic update of the devices will triggered by the DLI if necessary, assuming the DLI is activated. After the upgrade, the system must be verified by the technician to ensure all phones were upgraded to the necessary device software. If all devices were not upgraded to the necessary SW, on the Home screen of the WBM (OpenScape Office >=V3 R3.8.0 or OpenScape Business >=V1 R2.1.0), an alert with a link called devices will be shown (see screenshot 2).

    Screenshot 2

  • Following the link devices a detailed list (see screenshot 3) will be generated which shows all active but not yet upgraded devices (including OptiPoint WL2 HFA and OpenScape Personal Edition HFA).

Screenshot 3 Deactivated or offline devices (e.g. Softclient or WL2) are not listed under devices until activated by a user and devices page is subsequently reloaded. Please be aware of devices that may be registered or online in the future, as they are not yet updated to the new software, these devices will be displayed on this list.

In case OpenStage Phones / OptiPoint Phones / Octopus Phones were not upgraded to the current software (see information above) or higher, it is possible to perform a manual update of the devices as described here:

o The DLI address entry in the devices needs to be verified via WBM link, and if modified,

a automatic restart is performed by the device

Exceptions: Devices with Gateview For the upgrade of devices with the Gateview software the following procedure is required:

Uninstall the Gateview software on the phone via the System WBM Initiate a restart of the phone, and the update will be performed automatically if the DLI

address entry is correct Reinstall the Gateview software on the device

  • System with DLS The device software distribution is executed via DLS within the customer network. The correct device software must be available to the DLS to perform the update.

OptiPoint WL2 Phones WL2 phones must be converted from HFA to SIP as described below. After upgrading the system software (OpenScape Office V3 R3.8.0 or OpenScape Business V1 R2.1.0) and upgrading the WL2 phones to SIP software, the upgraded WL2 phones will be located in the WBM under SIP phones. If possible, it is recommended to convert WL2 phones to SIP before upgrading the system software.

How to upgrade to a SIP version e.g. 70-000-52 from a HFA version e.g. 50-001-052 The following procedure is required to upgrade an optiPoint WL2 professional (HFA version) to an optiPoint WL2 professional S (SIP version): The upgrade requires an updated factory data file system in the phone in order to work correctly. A specialized intermediate software version is a necessary step to obtain the finalized updated version. Prior to installing any software, please save a copy of existing settings over WBM backup for safety. The software upgrade is done in two steps as follows: Upgrade to the intermediate version prep70_39.img Install first the intermediate version prep70_39.img via the common way either by WBM or by DLS. You can see the progress of this upgrade in the phone display. When the phone starts up with this version the factory data file system content is set to the default values of a standard SIP version and the default ringer tones and images are copied to the data files. The following message will be displayed: Temp. SW only! Please Update! and can be confirmed with "OK". It is not necessary to confirm it for the upgrade to the final version. Finalize the upgrade to the final version with a standard SW file e.g. swup_70-000-052 Finalize the upgrade procedure with a standard update file e.g. swup_70-000-052 Because of security reasons are all settings and user data not changed during this upgrade. The activation of the default phone settings have to be carried out manually via WBM or DLS. If you use WBM please use: System Settings - Reset User Data - User Settings Clear or Factory Reset - Restore the factory defaults (Caution! All user data will be lost)
