Companies need to find database information quickly and cost-effectively. However, as database size grows exponentially and as SQL queries become more complex, current search solutions struggle to meet these needs. The challenges include adequate query response times, computationally intensive indexing processes, and costly solutions to handle massive data sets. Many companies are enjoying the Google search experience and OneBox functionality for their document and content management systems, but have avoided extending the Google Search Appliance to database content because of document count licensing limitations. Computational load on database servers driven by OneBox solutions is also a concern.
