ONE NIGHT IN HAVANA SATURDAY, SEPT. 17, 2016 Medicine Ball to benefit Nursing Excellence at Abbott Northwestern Hospital Hilton Minneapolis ¡ BIENVENIDOS! Welcome to One Night in Havana. We hope you will enjoy this hand crafted experience of a unique and wonderful culture. The creativity and talents of many were brought together to capture the sights, sounds, and tastes of Cuba. We hope you feel transported in time and place, and feel the energy from the streets of Havana to the ballroom of the Tropicana. But what makes Cuba so special is its people and their passion. Let this party inspire you to capture that passion in your heart. Mostly, we want to thank you for your incredible generosity in supporting one of the most valuable assets of Abbott Northwestern Hospital: Our nurses and their passion for patient care. The Nursing Excellence Fund of the Abbott Northwestern Hospital Foundation will help maintain that margin of excellence in nursing that distinguishes us from the rest. Sit back, relax, move your hips, smoke a cigar and enjoy your trip to Havana. Mark and Sara Migliori The Nursing Excellence Fund of Abbott Northwestern Hospital Foundation helps recruit, train, and retain our nurses to meet the growing complexities of health care. A country with a population of just 11 million people, Cuba is a musical heavyweight, famous for its joyful sounds, rich rhythms, and masterful musicians. Tonight you’ll enjoy the street sounds of Son music from eastern Cuba, the raucous drums of Rumba from Cuba’s coast, Danzón from the city of Cienfuegos, romantic Boleros from Havana, and modern Timba – salsa for the 21st century that pulses in Latin clubs worldwide. Our entertainment tonight, the ensemble Charanga Tropical, was founded in 2006 by longtime jazz saxophonist turned Latin flutist Doug Little, and features a vibrant mix of classic danzones, Cuban salsa and original compositions.
