God is a God of love.

“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son”

(Jn 3:16).

1 Jn 4:7-8.

“We have known and believed the love that God has for us.

God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God

in him” (1 Jn 4:16).

We love our enemies.

Matt 5:43-48.

That is precisely what God did for us (Rom 5:8-10).

How does God love His enemies?

God acts for their benefit.

If we love our enemies, we’ll act for their benefit.

We love our brethren.

1 Jn 3:10-18.

1 Jn 4:7-12.

Why love our brethren?

God says to love one another.

We’re family.

Jesus’ blood has brought us together.

Our loving one another is a witness to the world (Jn 13:35).

We are to love our spouses.

Older women are to “admonish the young women to love their

husbands” (Titus 2:4).

Eph 5:25-29.

We are to love our children.

The older women are to “admonish the young women to love

their husbands, to love their children” (Titus 2:4).

Love is a decision.

“Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent; and he took

Rebekah and she became his wife, and he loved her” (Gen

24:67).

“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,

that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have

everlasting life” (Jn 3:16).

You love your enemies.

Pick an enemy to love.

Love that person that way God does.

How can you bless that enemy this week (Matt 5:43-48)?

You pray for him (Matt 5:44-45).

You love your brethren.

Love a brother who needs loving (1 Jn 3:17-18).

What can you do to help?

You love your spouse.

This week love your spouse in a special way.

Little things done in love can make a big difference in our

homes.

You love your children.

Loving our children means that we train them to be like Jesus.

“You, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring

them up in the training and admonition of the Lord” (Eph 6:4).

Spend time this week with your children in Scripture.
