BOB ROSS: THE HAPPY PAINTER presents a behind-the-scenes look at the beloved public television personality's journey from humble be-ginnings to an American pop-culture icon. THE HAPPY PAINTER reveals the public and private sides of Bob Ross through loving accounts from close friends and family, childhood photographs and rare archival footage. Interviewees recount his gentle, mild-mannered demeanor and unwavering dedication to wildlife, and disclose little-known facts about his hair, his fascination with fast cars and more. Film clips feature Bob Ross with men-tor William Alexander and the rough-cut of the first Joy of Painting episode from 1982. Famous Bob Ross enthusiasts, including talk-show pioneer Phil Donahue, film stars Jane Seymour and Terrence Howard, chef Duff Goldman and country music favorites Brad Paisley and Jerrod Niemann, provide

ARIZONA'S DUST BOWL: LESSONS LOST - The Dust Bowl was a natural disaster caused by severe drought that affected much of the United States during the 1930s. Poor farming practices, primarily attributed to the large number of small family farms, compounded the severity of the disaster. While the environmental damage was mainly in the Midwest, the socio-economic repercussions transformed the nation, especially Arizona. This 60-minute docu-mentary explores how this tragedy not only affected Arizona’s economy, but also the area’s demographics and culture. Could we suffer another Dust Bowl? Are the recent droughts across the southwest and deadly dust storms that engulfed Phoenix a sign of things to come? Have we learned any lessons? Airs Tuesday, December 4th, at 9 p.m.

AGAINST THE GRAIN: THE YEAR MOTHER NATURE STRUCK BACK depicts the plight of today’s American farmers and their struggles with extreme weather during one of the worst droughts since the Dustbowl. Produced by Emmy Award winning documentarians, this special chronicles how farm families overcome great odds every year to harvest the best crops possible to feed the nation and the world. Airs Tuesday, December 4th, at 10 p.m.

NOVA - Was Hurricane Sandy a freak combination of weather systems? Or are hurricanes increasing in in-tensity due to a warming climate? How did this perfect storm make search and rescue so dangerous? INSIDE THE MEGASTORM takes viewers moment by moment through Hurricane Sandy, its impacts and the future of storm protection. Through first person accounts from those who survived, and from experts and scientists, this program gives scientific context to a new breed of storms. Airs Tuesday, December 4th, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 9th, at 6 p.m.

Claude Monet's passions extended far beyond the water lilies, sunsets and landscapes of his famous paintings. Connecting the painter's love of art and his profound appreciation for food, MONET'S PALATE embarks on a culinary tour of Normandy, where Monet lived and worked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This documentary, introduced by Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep, offers a revealing portrait of the father of Impressionist painting. The production, shot entirely on location in Paris, London and Giverny, includes exclusive footage taken inside the home where the artist and notorious gourmand lived for 43 years. MONET'S PALATE visits Monet's exquisite dining room, where the artist entertained guests such as Marcel Proust and Paul Cezanne. Some of today's greatest chefs, including Roger Verge, prepare some of Monet's favorite meals using Normandy's native ingredients. Dishes include: flambe duck with apple and "Sailors' Mussels," a regional delicacy. Later, Alice Waters and Daniel Boulud discuss Monet's passion for art and fine cuisine Airs Tuesday, December 11th, at 10 p.m.

NATURE: ANIMAL ODD COUPLES - A tiger cub with no mother in sight. A baby hippo. An abandoned meerkat pup. Without nurturing, these infants face certain death. Enter stories of the most unlikely cross-species relation-ships imaginable: a chimp bottle-feeding a tiger cub; a giant tortoise snuggling a baby hippo; a black crow parenting a meerkat. Aberrations of nature? Instincts gone awry? Does this kind of bonding form only when

animals are removed from their natural environments? Or are they evidence of a broad array of emotions among animals? This film will look at these remarkable relationships firsthand, and through caregivers, biologists and animal behaviorists, and explore what they suggest about the nature of animal emotions. Airs Thursday, December 6th, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 9th, at 5 p.m.

Travel writer Richard Bangs, the longtime host and writer of the Emmy-winning ADVENTURES WITH PURPOSE launches a new series designed to re-awaken viewers' sense of won-der. RICHARD BANGS' SOUTH AMERICA: QUEST FOR WONDER follows Bangs as he seeks out the continent's most revered sites and natural wonders - from its bone-rattling wa-terfalls to its ancient, sacred citadels. He visits awe-inspiring Iguacu Falls in Brazil and Argentina; mystical, remote Easter

Island deep in the Pacific; the architectural ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru; and the bio-logically diverse Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador. Airs Tuesday, December 18th, at 8 p.m.

"This is a secret show, right?" said Mayer Hawthorne at the start of his performance at the opulent Grand Ballroom of the Park Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. "Well, tonight, the secret word is fun." He kept his word for the next 90 minutes, as he and his nimble band, The County, blazed through two dozen songs in his updated classic soul style, infused with everything from doo-wop to hip-hop. Over the course of the evening, Hawthorne and his band thrilled an invita-tion-only crowd of 400 with a set featuring

selections from Hawthorne's acclaimed new album, How Do You Do, plus such fan favorites as "Green Eyed Love." LIVE FROM THE ARTISTS DEN: MAYER HAWTHORNE premieres Friday, December 7th, at 10 p.m.

ANUNA: CHRISTMAS MEMORIES - The interna-tionally renowned Celtic Irish choral group Anuna - the original vocal group in Riverdance - bridges the gap between classical and popular music with its pure, haunting, emotional, mystical and unusual sound. In a new special, the singers, musicians and dancers of Anuna perform popular and lesser-known Christmas music and reminisce about their most cherished holiday memories. Taped in front of a live audience over the course of two nights, the songs and performances combine dramatic candle-lit sets, crystalline voices, ethereal costumes and ritualistic movements. Anuna's previous public television special, 2007's Anuna: Celtic Origins, spawned a national tour and a best-selling CD, which remains a presence on the BillboardWorld Music Charts. Airs Sunday, December 16th, at 9 p.m., and Monday, December 17th, at 7 p.m.
