AMAZING MUSIC BY THE NASHVILLE SINGERS By Jim Owens
You will want to hear the amazing musical talents of The Nashville Singers at our SeniorLink Dinner on Thursday, July 18. The Nashville Singers was founded in November of 2008 by a handful of men committed to excellence in vocal and choral performance. The chorus performs a diverse, primarily a cappella repertoire, covering many genres of music.
Since its formation, this volunteer vocal ensemble of a dozen singers has learned almost 100 songs, released two audio CD’s, racked up 120 performances for 75 or more clients in 11 counties across Tennessee, and produced a successful concert series which has attracted 2,800+ attendees from 43 cities in ten states across the USA. Performances by The Nashville Singers have been enjoyed by over 50.000 people to date.
The Nashville Singers have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many talented performing artists that include Music City Chorus, The Suntones, Fisk Jubilee Chorus, Metro Nashville Chorus, MLK Reunion Choir, and the O’Donnells. The Nashville Singers have also enjoyed singing for several dignitaries, including former Mayor Karl Dean, Senator Trent Lott, Gov. Bill Haslam and Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey.

MARRIAGE TO MIRROR GOD’S LOVE FOR USDuring our special night on June 20, Jay Strother, senior pastor of our campus at Station Hill, will lead us to reflect on God’s design at Creation for the union of man and woman and what He intended that relationship to be. God’s design was for marriage to mirror His deep, abiding and forgiving love for all mankind. We will gain an understanding of how the challenges, joys and struggles of a husband and wife can successfully be faced as they turn in union to God.
THE SONGS TELL OF LOVEWe remember the lyrics of “Love and Marriage go together like...” and we extend that to “Music and Marriage go together, because songs become a part of the fabric of a husband and a wife. The program will be enhanced by the humor of Kay DeKalb Smith. She is described as the “Carol Burnett of Christian Entertainment,” the Erma Bombeck of singing, and the Beth Moore of Christian insight. She will tickle your funny bone and touch your heart at the same time, for she is famous for having your laughing one moment and crying the next.
