Sewing Supplies • PFAFF® creative icon™ • INSPIRA™ Aqua Magic™ • Coral thread to match the 2019 color of the year Living Coral • 2-4 coordinating coral embroidery threads of different shades • Invisible thread • Round hand embroidery hoop • ¼ yard (23cm) White or translucent shiny organza (nylon is best if

finishing the edges with the optional melting method) • Optional: Clear beads • Optional: Hot knife, woodburning kit, or similar hot tool to melt the fabric

Note: Instructions are based on the optional applique method that uses the optional tools listed unless otherwise noted. Setting Up the Embroidery

1. Select design 39 from the Signature Design category. 2. Press Hoop Options and select the hoop. 3. Touch and hold the design to get the Smart Toolbox and press Muilt-

Duplicate.

4. Multi-Duplicate the design to 5 and press OK. 5. Arrange the designs on screen so there is space around each design. 6. In the Embroidery Stitch Out Settings, select Monochrome.

Tip: This will stitch out your embroidery designs without stopping, which is ideal for the alternative free standing applique method described below. If using the traditional method for machine applique, you will not want Monochrome selected.

7. Hoop the INSPIRA® Aqua Magic™ and organza. Note: If you are not using the alterative method, only hoop the stabilizer.

Finishing the Applique Feathers

Traditional Machine Applique: 1. Cut away the excess stabilizer.

Note: Be sure to cut the stabilizer in between the feathers as well. 2. With warm water remove the remaining stabilizer and dry flat. Optional Freestanding Applique Method: 1. Cut away the excess stabilizer and fabric. Get as close as you can to the

applique without cutting the stitching, approximately 3-6mm away. Note: Be sure to cut the fabric and stabilizer in between the feathers as well.

2. With warm water remove the remaining stabilizer and dry flat. 3. To remove the remaining fabric close to the stitching, use your optional

heat tool to melt it close to the stitching. Note: Do not hold the heat tool to the stitching for extended periods of time. Note: Be sure to use proper safety gear and precautions given by the heat tool manufacturer.

Constructing the Mobile

1. Tie 1 feather at the end of invisible thread. Tip: Tie beads near the bottom of the invisible thread to add interest and add weight to the thread.

2. Tape the invisible thread to the outer hoop to decide the layout and height of your feathers.

3. Glue the invisible thread to the outer hoop. 4. Create cording using your IDT™.

a. Cut 8-10 strands of thread, twice the length of the diameter of your hoop.

b. Select stitch 6. c. Place the strands under the foot and IDT™ and sew.

5. Knot the cords in the middle to create a loop to hang the mobile from. 6. Measure and mark 4 spots on the hoop to attach the cord to. 7. Add the inner hoop from below. 8. Hang and enjoy.
