Olympic games in Sochi 2014

Once talismans of the Olympic Games in Sochi were invited to visit the talismans of the

Olympic Games in London.

"We will have the Olympic games in Sochi," said the White Bear.

In 776 BC the Olympic Games started, after Olympic Games they carved the winners name on marble columns. Because of that we

know the name of the winner of the first Olympic Games. The ancient Greeks had this tradition: the names of the winners were carved on

marble columns. Thanks to the tradition we know the date - 776 year BC - the name of the first winner: his name was Koreb, he was a chef

from Elis. The first thirteen Games consisted of only one kind of competitions - races on one of the stages, which should correspond to

the length of six feet of Zeus. It was 192 m of 27 cm. At first in the Games participated athletes Alice and Pisa.

In the first games there was only one sport but in 724 BC a new sport was introduced, a run of 384, 54 meters. In 720 BC another kind of sport was added to the list which wanted the athletes to

have a long run. Also in 708 BC on the 18th Olympic Games was added Pentathlon in which the athletes had to get through five

sports: a short distance run, wrestle, long jump, high jump and to throw a disc.

"We know the story of the Olympic Games, " said Mandeville.

" We want to know more about Sochi, " said Wenlock.

Sochi is a city on the Black Sea coast, the largest resort city which is located in the subtropics of Russia. The permanent population of the city - 343 300

people. The city of Sochi was chosen as the capital city of the 22nd winter Olympic Games by the International Olympic Committee in Guatemala on July

4 ,2007. On March 1, 2010 at the closing ceremony of the 2010 Games in Vancouver Jacques Rogge handed over the Olympic flag to the mayor of

Sochi. The Russian anthem was playing and the Russian flag was raised in the stadium. After that there was a solemn presentation of Sochi - the capital of the

2014 Olympic Games.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Olympic stadium «Fisht»

In Sochi-arena the competitions in ice hockey will take place.

In the exhibition center of Imereti the competitions in figure skating, curling, short-track will take

place.

Organizing Committee «Sochi 2014» introduced the slogan of the Games - «Hot. Winter. Yours». The word «Hot» reflects the

intensity of the competition and the passion of the audience and the place holding the Games. The word "Winter" reveals the time

and the character of the Games, their type. The last word - «Yours» means the Game is a large-scale integrated project, which allows everyone to celebrate their victory, be proud and

comprehend.

"We want to visit Sochi too, " said Wenlock and Mandeville.
