Page 1 One day there was a big garden and it had a lot of vegetables like carrots. Then came along a rabbit and it was really hungry. So the rabbit went into the garden ( the garden is near the woods). A rabbit is a herbivore because it eats plants. The rabbit is a consumer because it can’t use energy from the sun directly to make food and the plants are producers.

Page 2Then came along a big mean cat and I mean it was

mean. Then the cat saw the rabbit in the garden. So the cat waited. Finally the rabbit came out of the garden and the cat killed the rabbit. So the cat is a carnivore because it is a meat eater.

Page 3Then the cat went to go cross the road but then it got

hit by the car. Then the cat’s body was on the side of the road. Then a coyote was just eating grass until it saw the dead cat so it went over and started eating some of the cat. So the coyote is a scavenger because it eats meat and dead animals.

Page 4Then the coyote finished eating the cat and went back

up to its home in the mountains. Then a human was hunting in the mountains, saw the coyote and shot the coyote and kept the soft, beautiful fur coat. Then fungi made the rest of the coyotes body into the ground and broke the rest of it up into small parts. So the fungi is a decomposer because it breaks up the dead animals into small parts that become part of the soil.
