Olentangy Local Schools 2015–2016 Elementary Lunch Menu
At Olentangy Local Schools, we know that good nutrition and learning go hand in hand! Led by a Registered Dietitian the Olentangy Food Service Department is dedicated to students’ health, well-being, and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices. The Olentangy Local School District participates in the National School Lunch Program, which is designed to provide meals that are nutritious, tasty, and appealing to students in a safe, sanitary, and cost-effective manner. A meal consists of 5 components: an entrée, which is 2 components (a protein and a whole grain-rich grain), a fruit, a vegetable, and a fat-free or low fat milk. Students must select at least 3 of the 5 components one of which must be either a fruit or vegetable. Besides the menued components, alternate entrées including an entrée chef salad, fresh fruit, baby carrots, and other seasonal produce are offered daily. Extra menu items are available for purchase with cash or debit cards for grades 2nd through 5th. In addition to the meal Olentangy Local Schools offers beverages and à la carte items. All items offered for sale are in compliance with USDA’s Smart Snacks in School standards and are available daily for students in 2nd through 5th grade with cash only. K and 1st grade are offered à la carte items one time per week with cash only. Additional information regarding à la carte offerings can be found on the Food Services web page located within the district website. Olentangy Local Schools cannot guarantee the absence of trace amounts of potential allergens not listed on food labels for sensitive individuals, but we will gladly work with you regarding any food allergies or special dietary concerns. Menu items are subject to change due to availability of foods or unplanned school closings. Please check the Food Services web page for the most up-to-date information.
Free and reduced lunch program applications are available on-line or at any school office. You may apply any time during the school year.
Parents are encouraged to prepay for meals. Methods of payment include on-line payments, cash, and check. Visit www.olentangy.k12.oh.us and follow the instructions to make an on-line payment and also check your child’s balance.
