Cochran, wealthy social regis-terite, sportsman and business executive, was found dead today ap­parently of heart' disease In the hallway of his Madison avenue apartment The body was found by a milkman making his rounds. • Mr. Cochran, noted for hia ex­tensive, string; of race horses, was formerly president of Alexander Smith & Rons, Yonkers carpet manufacturers, and was an official of a number of other concerns.

Cochran owned one of the most successful racing stables. Last sea­son his colors, green and old KOld. hashed to 40 victories of the turf and came Into the money ?! times.

The sportsman's wife, formerly Mabel H. Taylor, obtained a divorce in Parts In 1127. They had three children, Jean, Glfford, Jr., and Drayton.
