  • OFFICIAL PROGRAM GUIDE4 WHAT MOVES YOU?2016

I remember attending my first NAVC Conference back in the 1990s as a speaker. I was struck by the positive atmosphere from the moment I walked into the venue. It was very bright, cheerful and welcoming. The sheer volume of information available, and the size of the event, was kind of overwhelming, but also very exciting.

Over the years, the program has always been the core of this event. As Ive transitioned from a speaker to an NAVC Board member and now President, Ive personally seen our team embrace attendee feedback and strive to present the most incredible, cutting-edge program each year. No detail is too small when it comes to making sure the Conference is a complete success for you.

Now we fast-forward 20 years to the NAVC Conference 2016 supporting What Moves You to be in the veterinary profession. What excites me for this year are the variety of topics and the volume of choices. Theres truly something for everyone. You wont leave disappointed in your ability to learn, grow, connect with others and also be entertained.

The NAVC is taking the profession beyond medicine and clinical skills. Were incorporating programs that present bold new ideas, such as our General Session and unique IGNITE! talks. Im super excited about our Zoobiquity presentations as well, because public health is critical to people and animals. Plus, where else can you rock with Sheryl Crow in a private audience of your peers?

    Welcome!

    Christine Navarre, DVM, MS, DACVIM (LAIM)President 2015 - 2016

NAVC CONFERENCE 2017 AND BEYOND:Big news! Starting next year, the NAVC will host our annual NAVC Conference at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, Florida. Mark your calendar for the first OCCC dates: February 4-8, 2017.

Heres why this move will be great for you:n All sessions in one centralized location: Its easier to attend all the sessions you want, from lectures to luncheons,

Hands-on Laboratories to Masterclasses and more. And, well be adding more programs to cover a broader range of disciplines and interest.

n One Exhibit Hall: See everything in one place, from hundreds of companies. This gives you more time to browse new technologies and other solutions, try them out, ask questions and invest in the best for your practice.

n Major hotels within walking distance: Youll find top-notch amenities for relaxing, dining and networking at the Hilton Orlando, the Hyatt Regency: Orlando and the Rosen Centre Hotel - all connected by skybridges to the OCCC.

n Restaurants and shopping within walking distancen Plenty of space to experience the best of our Conference and all that Orlando offers: The OCCC is the second largest

convention center facility in America. Its location is central to the citys most exciting attractions for entertainment, dining, shopping and outdoor activities.

Youll be hearing much more about this big move as we lead up to the NAVC Conference 2017.

A MESSAGE FROM THE NAVC PRESIDENT

  • OFFICIAL PROGRAM GUIDE 5NAVC.com

This years What Moves You? theme is all about supporting the reasons you work in the veterinary profession. Everything here is designed to provide you with the best Conference experience imaginable.

This is our last year in this venue, and we want to thank you for your many years of support as weve grown and expanded within these three properties to bring you an increasing number of opportunities.

Speaking of moves. while well miss this venue, our conference is only going to get better as we make our big transition to the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, starting in 2017. We invite you to follow us and enjoy a new NAVC Conference where everything is in one centralized location.

This week, youll hear about three major initiatives the NAVC has embarked upon to enrich your career path as well as the animal health profession. The Veterinary Innovation Council (VIC) is an exciting new industry-wide organization ready to work collaboratively to focus on positive change. The NAVC Industry Services Division, which we tested over the past year, has officially launched to offer association management, learning symposia and consulting services specifically to the veterinary industry. And, this week were launching Todays Veterinary Technician as a new Official Journal of the NAVC, joining Todays Veterinary Practice and we know youll like it as much as we do!

In all these ways, were working harder to serve you more effectively. If you have a comment, suggestion or need, dont hesitate to contact me personally at [email protected] or stop anyone here wearing an NAVC shirt.

Thomas M. Bohn, MBA, CAENAVC Chief Executive Officer
