HAPPY NEW YEAR COW-TOWN MOPARS MEMBERS and HAPPY 20th ANNIVER-SARY! 2004 has come and gone. It seems like just the other day we were planning for the "Y2K" ....scare.... When I was younger hearing peo-ple say "time sure does fly" seemed like a silly statement to me, but as I get older I understand the truth of that statement more

and more. 2004 was a GREAT year for Cowtown Mopars and did it ever fly by! We had awesome cars in the indoor car shows. We had a Great Cowtown Mopars Round-up. We had our first of many joint picnics with the Dallas Mopar Club. We supported numerous local and some not so local car shows. We had a cool poker run and our first scavenger hunt. Gene invited everyone to his shop more then once. We had the MOST DOMINATING year ever in the TMCCC series that we won for the 3rd year in a row. We had our Toy Drive/Car Show at Huffines in early De-cember and gathered 828 toys and clothes along with $141 with the help from the Lone Star Jeep Club among others. To cap the year off we had 78 at our year end meeting and Christmas party. The food was great, the meeting was short and the gift exchange was a lot of fun. I'M PROUD TO BE A PART OF SUCH A GENEROUS AND FUN BUNCH OF CAR NUTS. The defini-tion for car nuts in the dictionary is: an affectionate term, "friend". As many of you probably have heard, a group of Mopar guys started meeting in the later part of 1985 and in early 1986 that group elected club officers. That is why we will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Cowtown Mopars in 2005. I hope that

you will join us in making this the best year ever for Cowtown Mo-pars. It is important that we all chip in, do what you can and we can make 2005 be a very special year for all of us. The first two things to pop up on the calender each year is the Dal-las Autorama February 11-13 and the Ft Worth Rod and Custom March 4-6. Please let me know if you are interested in entering ei-ther one of these shows. The first TMCCC series race will be at Kennedale on March the 13th (tentatively scheduled). The 2005 Cowtown Mopars Round-up will be April 9th at Huffines with the rain date being April 23rd. I know it is almost four months away, but it is not too early to start planning. Remember what they say "time sure does fly". We need your help right now gathering spon-sors and door prizes for the show. There will be many other ways you can help and if you are willing to help please let someone know, Thanks. In January, February and March we will be nominating board mem-bers. The best way to get nominated is to not be at one of those meetings, so I'm sure we will have a big turnout at the next few meetings. All kidding aside, if you want to serve as a board mem-ber, want to nominate someone, want to nominate yourself or want to watch people squirm please be at the next club meetings. We will be voting at the March club meeting and the elected officers will take over after the April Cowtown Round-up. See ya soon!

tend. I would also like to thank all of the club members and the other clubs that participated in the toy drive this year. To say the least, we were not prepared for the number of cars in attendance but we managed to make room for everyone. The amount of toys brought in exceeded our expectations and it is a great statement about the members of our club. Mike Miller, V.P. Owner, M.P.A.R.

Vice President... By the time you get the newsletter this month it will be a new year. 2004 was a great year for the club and we anticipate 2005 being even better. We will celebrate the clubs 20th anniversary this year and will com-memorate the year with a special tee shirt for the show. If anyone has any ideas for the shirt please feel free to let us know about them or if you can design a shirt... do it! We are open to all sugges-tions. Congratulations to all of the club members that won races and car shows. Looking at the number of trophies that were brought to the meet-ings, a lot of people did real well last year! The race team won the TMCCC Championship for the third consecutive year and the show team continues winning awards at the shows they at-

As i write this final message for the calendar year 2004,2005 will have been ushered in. The club has done really well this year and anticipates a better year for 2005. A very positive turn-out with our Dallas neighbors for our spring picnic has more joint events lined up for the upcoming year. The club will celebrate our 20th anniver-sary with a commemorative 20th anniversary t-shirt to be sold to members and guests, starting with our annual round-up in April. The year 2004 had many positives for

the club, including a three time texas muscle car club challenge (TMCCC) championship and an awesome display of trophies and plaques by both the race and show teams won at various events. The final event of the year ,the annual toy drive, was so well attended that it shocked both club members and our sponsor, Huffines Dodge. Expectations were over-whelmingly exceeded which shows to all that not only does our club

have great cars and

I have added a new page to the web site..... finally. I have put a page up with photos that our club member in Australia sent to us. Thanks to Andrew Pana for sending them. I have a lot more photos (3 CD's worth!) and will add a few more photos to the page as time allows. Those guys and gals have some really neat cars down there! The Toy Drive photos will be online in a week or two. I am still waiting for some of them to turn up. I have to re-size them all and get a page started too!...... I must be getting lazy in my old age. Or just too busy!

WELCOME RACE FANS

Here’s hoping that your Christmas was Merry & you started 2005 with A Happy New Year! This past holiday was the best in many years for me, as I was able to spend great times with Family and Friends in Oklahoma, after sharing the joy of the TOY Drive & Christmas Party with this club! Speaking of family, Dave Maxon will be long gone by the time you read this. All of us at CMPT thank Dave for his work. Thanks, Dave! Also, Thanks to everyone for the HELP with the shop move. Gary Bradshaw is my new ’parts guy’, and together we’ll be able to do more TUNE work and much more. Come by & Say HOWDY! Well, we made it past the holiday season and what a season it was. The toy drive was the best ever and is looking even better for next year. The whole drive was made great for me when Gene and I were leading the caravan on I-820 in Ft. Worth and a lady pulled up next to us on the highway just to say thank you for what we were doing. Her doing that just made my holiday spirit. Thank you to everyone who helped and I know that there were a lot of happy kids because of what you did. The meeting / Christmas party at Billy Bob’s went great also. I believe we had more that 75 people show up and the catered food was delicious. We all had a ball with the Chinese gift exchange. If you needed any bungie cords, that was the place to be. I’m already looking forward to next year. We are now starting to plan for the annual car show at Huffines and the joint picnic with Dallas Mopars. Now is the time for all of us to start asking for donations for door prizes and goody bag items for the show. Also if you know somewhere that we can put a flyer in the window to adver-tise, that would be great also. Stay tuned for more updates on both. Gary Bradshaw, CMPT Activities Director

Just what every 40Something should have—Their first race car! Aquired in the Summer of 2004, our newest Mopar addition (to the ‘71 and ‘72 Cudas) is this ‘66 Coronet. We’ve been hooked on racing it ever since with the club. As a rookie, not only is seat time important for the driver, but so is experienced friends/racers, and a supportive family! We’re looking forward to the 2005 season! The car sports an fresh Indy Aluminum headed 499 cubic Inch motor built by M.P.A.R., with Eagle crank, Eagle rods, Ross pistons, Competition Cams Roller cam set-up, a Holly 1050 Dominator with Deadenbear air ram stop, 727 Torqflite automatic, Pro trans-brake, Turbo Action 8 inch 4800 stall, CSI tranny shield, turbo action shifter with Deadenbear air shifter. Year-old paint, fiberglass hood, trunk & bumpers, a 12pt. chrome Moly TIG-welded cage, Dana rear end with 4.88 gears, Moser axles and spool, Chassis works 4 link with 4130 rod ends, 4 wheel disc brakes, 2 inch coated race headers, Borla race mufflers, twin yellow top optimas, and some pretty large Goodyears in back com-plete the car. The car was built in Colorado in 1998. A special word of thanks to my wife, Sheila, and our 12 year-old daughter, Ashley, for their encouragement and support. Without them, NO part of this Adventure would be worth it!!! Also, big-time Thanks! to Mike Miller at M.P.A.R. for the tireless mechanical & fabrication work (and teaching) on a car that seemed not to like him at first (next time use the jack stands!), and to Bill ‘TexasTrailerMan’ Boon for a great car-hauler. Finally, thank you to the CMPT members for making us feel welcomed into the race team, headed by Gene Quick (another teacher)! We’ll also hang out with the CMPT Show Team again in 2005, with this car & the ‘Cudas! Steve Wiggin, CMPT Member, Newsletter Editor
