The year is quickly winding down, but we still have a lot of activities to finish up the year. For those of you who couldn’t attend the September 11 meeting, you missed a very interesting and dynamic presentation by Pete Miller, Chairman, President and CEO of National Oilwell Varco. The topic was presented in 3D and it was focused on new rig technology and the way of the future. It was a fascinating program, and 150+ members and guests enjoyed it with 3D glasses to get the full effect. We will not have an October meeting as we will be holding our annual Golf Tournament to raise money for our scholarship program. The tournament will be held at Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress Texas and we expect a huge turn- out for this event. We’ve got some new surprises this year, and if you have not registered a team yet, please contact Wanda Baker, and complete the form in this newsletter. We also need volunteers to work the tournament – no golf knowledge necessary. We still have several opportunities for sponsorships, but time is running short for us to get signage ready. This is an opportunity for you to see your company represented. The next NOMADS regular dinner meeting will be at HESS on Tuesday No- vember 13, 2012. The main agenda for this meeting will be the induction of our new members. Please come and join us as we welcome our new mem- bers into NOMADS. Our annual business meeting will be on Tuesday, Dec 11, 2012, at HESS. This will be a closed meeting for members and applicants only. We will be go- ing over our financials and presenting a special tribute to those who have passed away this past year. We strive to keep up with those Nomads who have passed, however, if you have any knowledge of someone and would like to present a remembrance, please let us know. Mark your calendars and plan to attend this important meeting. You will hear more about this later on. Bobby French

September Young Professional Event

The second YP (Young Professional) event was held at the St. Arnold Brewing Company, and it’s fast-growing in popularity. We had over 90 young professionals signed up, with a handful of Nomads who attended. We are looking for more of our members to attend these functions, mingle and intrigue our guests; delicately en-courage membership! We’ve got a new blue lapel sticker with the NOMADS logo on it, which will help us to identify our guests/potential applicants at future meetings/events. This blue sticker is a “call to action” for all NOMADS to greet and engage these non-members. Watch for details on the next event, and help us wel-come these young professionals!

September 10 at St. Arnold Brewery

Even though the Astros didn’t have a great year, it’s al-ways fun to go out to the “ball game”! We wish them bet-ter luck in 2013!

A big “Thanks” to the following for ticket donations, in which all the proceeds goes directly to the scholarship fund!
