    CHILD PARTICIPATION

The Skoolz Classic offers the perfect venue for this objective.

Proceeds benefit the Howard Brown Athletic Scholarship Fund(HBASF), which has given thousands of dollars in the form of

scholarships to stellar student athletes over the years who were enrolled

in and maintained attendance at a school, college or university, exhibited

exemplary accomplishments academically and athletically, and are

actively serving within their respective communities.

Live The Dream Foundation has a number of events throughout the year

that provide our young people with a positive, constructive outlet to

having fun as well as show off their skills, affords us the opportunity to

impact their lives one event at a time, and provides a forum toperiodically raise funds for an excellent cause. Investing in our future

is LDFs sole purpose for being in existence. Over the years, LDF

and the Skoolz Classic has partnered with a number of local

businesses and organizations in its attempt to impact a generation

and has supported grassroots youth programs in the Pottstown

community. People dont care how much you know until they know

how much you care. The Skoolz Classic has stretched out its arms to

the young people in Pottstown and in some cases, has literally

mentored some. Over the years a variety of local vendors have gotten

the chance to showcase their work and/or artistry (balloon and facepainting), children of all ages were entertained, and a sense of

community was restored. The Skoolz Hoop Shoot is held several times

throughout the year and this past year the Cutillos Live The Dream Golf

Outing was added to its host of activities.

The Skoolz Class ic has showcase d a host of budding stars beforethey became household names. 2007 Superbowl Champion RianWallace , 2008 Mens NCAA Tournament Champion and MVP,Wayne Ellington, and 2009 NBA Lottery Pick Gerald Henderson, all took part in the Skoolz Classic before transcending to stardom. The brightest male and female athletes across the region and

In 2008, JamellBeasley gradu ated Towson Univer sity on the Deans List. Live the Dream Foundation (LDF), an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, is the proud

producer of the Skoolz Classic Charity Basketball Showcase. A primary objective of LDF is to encourage

school students to earn a college degree through offering financial assistance and resources.

Live The Dream Foundation is happy to invite you to visit our new website - www.play2no.org.

Many have been asking, What is Play2No? And what does it have to do with Live The Dream

Foundation? Play2No is an initiative that offers transparency to gift giving while making it easier

for families to see and feel that they are part of something special. Participation in

Funducational (Fun and Educational) programs and events allows constituents to claim personal

stake in helping Live The Dream Foundation fulfill its mission- to empower visionary students.

The flagship program is the Skoolz Hoop Shoot (SHS). SHS is a community event that gives children and

parents, the opportunity to compete together in a funducational (fun and educational)

basketball shooting contest. Event leaders emphasize the importance of camaraderie in competitive activities.

Scores are derived from a mix of basketball shooting proficiency and general knowledge of core concepts. Awards are

given to outstanding contestants at a number of different age and skill levels. The 2011 champions round will take placeSaturday, June 18 at the 11th Annual Skoolz Classic.

This summer will mark the launch of the Play2no Europe / Skoolz USA Select Team Program. The

program aims to celebrate the sportsmanship and heritage of American basketball in an

    STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: CHARNELL GORHAM

Charnell Gorham, a 2010 Pottstown High School graduate, is a

freshman at Howard University in Washington, D.C.. She

acknowledges the importance of ascertaining a strong support

system in order to thrive in the academic arena. Charnell was kind

enough to take time out of her very busy college schedule to

prepare a first-hand report about her experience. Thank you

Charnell for a job well done and keep up the great work!

As a freshman entering Howard University, I was fortunate tohave a support system. I am a member of the Annenberg Honors

Program in the School of Communications. The Annenberg

Honors Progr am allows students many oppo rtuni ties with

exceeding in life. First and foremost, as an Annenberg scholar I

am required to maintain a 3.5 GPA. This allows other students as

well as myself to strive for excellence academically by setting

standards at a higher level. One of the requirements is that I am

expected to participate each year and complete twenty hours of

community service and participate throughout the community.

Annenberg offers every scholar when needed; a positive and

strong mentor to talk with about different college experiences or

life situations. It's great to be an Annenberg student due to themany advantages. As a member I have an edge with networking

with different executives from different companies and vendors

who are supporters of Annenberg students at Howard University. I

participate at different events such as dinners, book signings, and

internship fairs. I recommend that students everywhere strive for

excellence throughout their college experience. Starting while you

are students in high school; this can better prepare (you) for the

future. The Annenberg Honors Program (at Howard University)

    has been a wonderful experience.

    extraordinary international

    experience. The all-stellar

    student-athlete basketball team

will be presented June 18 at the

    11th Annual Skoolz Classic

    before traveling to Europe to

    c o m p e t e i n t h e F u t u r eStars international basketballtournament. Scholastic excellence

plays a key role team member selection

and throughout the program. Eachparticipant reports to the LDF

    constituency about their learning

experience, and by following the team

    progress on p l a y2no .org , LDF

    constituents participate in selecting the

    team MVP. Stay tuned!!!

The Skoolz USA Select Team will be

    led by Community College of

Philadelphia head basketball coachRobert Dondi Deshields. With

more than 300 wins, Dondi is one of

    t h e w i n n i n g e s t c o a c h e s i n

    Philadelphia history. Coach

Deshields has won 10 of the last 11

    EPCC league championships and 7
