This is just a reminder that bed bugs are alive and well in our community and communities across the country. Norwood is making every effort to keep these nuisances out of our building-things like keeping all students?belongings bagged in large ziplock bags and treating common areas as needed to prevent infestations. There are things you can do to protect your own homes as well! Check your own personal belongings, book bags, shoes and clothing for bugs before entering your home because bed bugs often hitch hike on these items . To be extra cautious you could put worn clothing in the dryer on high heat setting for 15 minutes when you enter your home. Although bed bugs do not spread disease they can be difficult and expensive to get rid of. If you are battling bed bugs in your home, inform the school so that extra measures can be taken to help prevent the spread to others. If you have questions, please call our nurse at 879-7642 ext 3305 or visit www.centralohiobedbugs.org Remember t o mark your calendars Parent T eacher Conf erences 10/31/16 - 11/3/16 Evening ho u r s - T HURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3

General Mil ls Boxtops and Campbel l Labels

Please continue to save and send in boxtops and labels. We now have an abundance of tether balls, playground balls, and jump ropes for the students to play with on recess thanks to the Campbell Companies.

Your continued support of these programs is appreciated!

LIBRARY

Your student is encouraged to use his/her backpack/bookbag as storage for their l ibrary books. Students can take the books out to read them any number of t imes and if he/she returns the book to the bookbag, there is less chance of being overdue!

During the cold and f lu season, parents often have a dif f icult t ime deciding whether or not to keep their child home sick. Here are a few guidelines to follow. Children should be kept home from school for these symptoms:

1-fever greater than 100                             2-vomitting or diarrhea                             3-persistent cough that disrupts normal activit ies

l ike sleep or causes vomiting                             4-pink eye                             5-unexplained rashes                             6-headlice If you decide to send your child, but are not sure, please call the nurse and make her aware. Do NOT tell your child they can call you if they feel sick because they automatically will want to go home. We make every effort to keep our students at school even if they aren?t feeling 100% . But,

we also want them healthy and ready to learn. You can reach the nurse at 879-7642 ext: 3305.

Before School Drop Of f

Please have your child get out of the car on the right side by the sidewalk. We want to keep children out of the road to keep them safe.  Switch car seats around if needed or the child can climb over the car seat.

Adults, please stay in the car and allow your child to get out and walk to their l ine. This allows the cars to continue moving through quickly and not get backed up.  A staff member can help open the door if necessary.

Please do not use the parking spots in the back. Please follow the line of cars and let your child out at the sidewalk.  We do not want students crossing the road with moving traff ic.  If students are going to breakfast, follow the line of cars and let students out at the sidewalk in front of the doors by the gym.  Thank you for your cooperation!  We want to keep all of our students safe!
