Course descriptionThis three day course features lectures and ‘meet-the-professor’ sessions with national and international experts, live endoscopies, and a hands-on workshop to practice skills designed to improve performance of advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as advanced imaging methods, EMR, and double balloon enteroscopy. Attendees will be able to evaluate different approaches to detection and therapy of dysplasia in Barrett’s esophagus and ulcerative colitis, set up a program for quality improvement and monitoring, and describe future trends in endoscopic practice and technology. The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) has endorsed this course.

Course learning objectivesUpon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:• Select patients who will benefit from new options in esophageal imaging and ablation.• Evaluate choices for small bowel endoscopy including capsules, smart pills and double

balloon enteroscopy.• Discuss ways to improve adenoma detection rate.• Improve performance of advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as EMR,

EUS and confocal imaging.• Establish programs for quality improvement and monitoring in endoscopy.

Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course.

Intended audienceThis course is designed for the GI endoscopist, GI Fellow, GI nurse and other GI clinicians wishing to update their skills on theory and practice of endoscopy in order to improve patient care.

CreditCollege of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, designates this educational activity for a maximum of 20.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The registration fee includes tuition, comprehensive course syllabus, continental breakfasts, break refreshments, lunches and reception. Although it is not Mayo School of CPD policy to limit the number of registrants for a course, conference room facilities may necessitate closing of enrollment; therefore, early registration is advised. A letter of confirmation will be sent upon receipt of payment and completed registration form. Please present the confirmation letter when checking in at the meeting registration desk.

Cancellation policyIf you cancel your participation in this course, your registration fee, less a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded when written notification is received by Mayo School of CPD before September 24, 2009 (fax#: 904-953-2954). No refunds will be made on or after September 25. Canceled registrations are non-transferable.

Mayo School of CPD reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event Mayo School of CPD must cancel or postpone this course, Mayo School of CPD will refund the registration fee but is not responsible for any related costs, charges, or expenses to participants, including fees assessed by airline/travel/lodging agencies.
