Principal’s Report

Dear Parents and Guardians

Reading Focus Our classroom focus this term is on Reading. All classes spend the morning session from 9.00am focusing on Reading and Literacy learning. All teachers are learning about different approaches to planning and delivering reading lessons across the school. As part of this focus, I will also be spending most mornings visiting classrooms and talking to students about their reading, listening to students read and encouraging students to their best. I will be unavailable to speak with parents from between 9.00am and 10.00am each morning so I can devote as much time as possible to being in classrooms. If you wish to make a time to see me or speak with me I will be happy to do so during other times of the day. In order to improve our learning in Reading across the school we need all students to be at school, ready to start learning at 9.00am sharp! We are very excited about the direction we are heading in and will keep you updated and involved as well! Cyber Safety Session Our Year 5 and 6 students will be attending a Drouin Cluster Schools event next Tuesday at Drouin Secondary College. Our local schools have recognised the need for education around online safety and behaviours that can cause problems for students and parents. The session will be presented by Susan McLean who is well known in the cyber safety field. Susan has most recently been involved in a review of situation involving a Richmond Football Club player and the sharing of explicit photos without consent. The result of that review has seen this situation labelled as a criminal offence that could result in fines and/or jail time (including anyone who received and then re-shared the photo). Many young people (including adults) do not realise the seriousness of making defamatory comments or even sharing comments/photos online with others. What can sometimes appear to be fun or a silly comment can have very serious consequences. We also encourage parents of any age children to attend the evening session that Susan will be conducting at 7.00pm at Drouin Secondary College. For a very small fee of $5, you will have access to Australia’s foremost authority on Cyber Safety and will come away armed with a wealth of knowledge to help keep your child safe in an online world. Queensland I had a spare by myself. We had take away food every night. By Ryan

On the first day of holidays I didn’t do much, but on Saturday I went to the Casey Race with

my friend Sydney. She didn’t want to go on the water slide so I went on it by myself.

Then the next day I went to Naomi’s work and I got my hair done. Then I went to go get

something to eat. Then l went out for dinner. By Larissa

My holiday was for 3 weeks. I’m going to talk about my holidays.

17th-21th of September I went to Cobram it was a school week. I had lots of fun. It was hot I went with grandma, gran-

dad, mum, dad, Tara, Ryder and Olivia\siblings. We had go carts to use every day. There was a jumping pillow, 2 play-

grounds, an inside and outside pool, football and soccer goals, basketball, tennis courts, and tracks for go carts and bikes. The caravan park was big, it had a lake for fishing that all that was there at the caravan park. On the 24th of September it was my birthday. I got a German sowing machine, the next step bag

and hat, wood crafts, long stich kit, bunny pen and statue. On the 6th of October I had a party at the family hotel. Ella-Rose,

Chloe, Amy, Makayla, Daniel Chelsey and Tasha were all there. I got pineapple lights, lollies, a pillow that changes, a photo frame, lush bath bombs and more. I had Amy, Chloe and

Ella-Rose over for the night because they live far away. That was my holiday. IMOGEN There were a few highlights and a few lowlights,

one highlight was my two brother’s birthdays! I made 2 cakes, one for each brother. For my

younger brother he had a party but for my older brother he didn’t!!

Another highlight was when we went camping…we took our motorbikes and our dogs. A lowlight of that highlight was that there was a storm and all our gear got broken so we had to go home that

morning! One of my favourite things that I did was go to

Sharni’s house for a sleepover, we had a lot of fun! By Eryn

On the weekend I mowed the lawns on the ride on. We went to the Warragul pool. It was my mum’s

birthday on grand final day. I went to my friend’s house we had a water fight with guns. We have a dog, two cats and horses and caves, so when I got bored I went in the paddock’s. We climbed lots of tree`s, and played hockey and I won. We played pool and table tennis and I also won. The rest of the

holiday was boring. By David

On the first Saturday we I played with my dogs Dozer and Ollie, then we went to Coles and got

some food. On Sunday I was in my room watching YouTube, it was the same for the rest of the week. Then on Saturday we went to an

Anderson family get together. The children were all younger then me and were boring. I watched the grand final when Richmond won. It has been

37 years since they won, then I was roasting marshmallows. Dusty won the Brownlow, Norm Smith and premiership. Then I played footy with dad for a bit. Then for the rest of the holiday I

did nothing. By Anthony

The school holidays were

amazing! But the first week was,

well… boring so I’m going to

skip to the second week. On

Monday the 25th

of September I

just had a day where I could

lounge around and relax even

though I did the whole first

week anyways on. On Tuesday

the 26th I went on an amazing

trail ride (horse riding) the ride

was sooo enjoyable and

relaxing.

On Wednesday the 27th

, well on

Wednesday I had Teleah over

and we went to the

pppppooooooolllllllll!!!!!!!!

Teagan

On the second week of the holidays I had to

bottle feed a lamb, the mother didn’t die but

when it gave birth to the lamb its insides came

out too. We had to call the Vet she gave the

ewe a lot of injections for fluid and strength.

The vet also had to stitch up the skin so her

insides wouldn’t come out again.

That week my sister and I went to my favourite

cousin’s house for a sleepover. The next day

we went to go see the emoji movie, it wasn’t the

best that I’ve seen. That night they came over

to our place for the night.

On the school holidays the first weekend on Saturday I hung out with my friend Hayley. She

came to my house and then we walked to McDon-alds and we bought 2 thick shakes and we went

back to the park and we decided to turn on the BBQ in the park and we put the thick shakes on the BBQ and we made pancakes out of them. We didn’t eat them because the BBQ was gross. After we cooked them we hung out at the park and there were two

boys there and we hung out with them and we walked up to the Primary School and we played with

a basketball that we found. On the first week of the holidays on Wednesday my sister came home from my dad’s and I got told that

my step mum Chloe is having a baby and that will be another kid to add to the list and then on Thursday I

stayed at my dad’s house for the rest of the holi-days. I just hung out with my baby brother Harley and we just played out the front of our house on the

grass so he could crawl around and play with the Tonka trucks. Then we basically just hung out at my dad’s work and helped load wood onto the trailers

and help out. By Jada

During the holidays I did not do much. On the first week on Tuesday ‘Women On Farms’ came out to our farm. My dad gave a talk and did a presentation then we all went to look at the Robotic milker. Then we went to look at my calves. After

that we walked down to the dam and then they had their monthly meeting. Then on Wednesday we moved most (30) of my calves to the paddock, I then had only about 30 left in the shed.

On the second week on Friday my dad went to the cattle sale in Warragul and bought 7 new cows. By Kelly

On the holidays I went to my nan and pa’s place for a sleep over and we watched the Brownlow and Dustin Martin won with a record 36 votes. On Tuesday both mum and dad were working so we went to Lisa and Brads. We played a lot of basketball. We had hotdogs, party pies and sausage rolls for lunch. On Thursday we went to

Nan’s for tea for Dads birthday because we wouldn’t see her on his actual birthday. We had a roast and a Pavlova. Friday was a holiday

because of the Grand final so dad took us to the skate park. Saturday we went to Nan and pa’s to watch the grand final it was Richmond vs crows. We got to pick players from a bowl and I picked out Dustin Martin, Eddie Betts and Jacob Townsend. Dusty won the Norm Smith medal so I won a block of chocolate. We played footy and a lot of fun games. The tigers won. On Sunday I had cricket

training we were doing fielding practice and we did some batting and bowling in the nets. Later on I went to basketball tournament

practice and did lots of fun drills. It was also my Dad’s birthday so I got him a box of m&ms and we had pizza for tea. On Monday we

went to Lisa and brad’s place and played some basketball. On Tuesday my cousin Lachie came over for a sleepover. We played footy

and had pizza for tea. The next day we went to the park in Jackson’s view and then we got to go to McDonalds and I saw

William at the skate park. Then Lachie left and not long later we had to go to max’s basketball training and Tyler and I got to fill in

and we played a game and I rejected Max. Jackson

The school holidays where the best ever apart from the first week it was so boring that I don’t even

know what I really did. I do know that we went to the zoo. On Sunday we went for my sister’s

birthday. My favourite part was the red pandas and the reptile enclosure and we finished the day

with a nice Icey poll. Teleah

30th of September 2017, 10.00am-I was on the couch watching the longest kick across

the Yarra. The top four were. Fevola, (an ex-Carlton player), an ex-Essendon player (don’t know his name.), Bryce Gibbs, (Carlton player who won the trophy last year) and Matthew suckling, (a Bulldogs player). The winner of the of the longest kick across the Yarra was Fevola my mum was saying that my aunty went to school

with him. Then I watched the grand final. I wanted Richmond to win because they are a Victorian team. Rich-mond pulled off with a comfortable win by 48 points. Rich-

mond 108 to Adelaide 60. The Norm Smith medal was awarded to Dustin Martin as well as the Brownlow medal.

Thursday the 6th of October, I went to cricket training for at least an hour. I find cricket

very enjoyable for me (even though I’m the only girl.) Sunday the 8th of October,

That day I took my dog Milo for a walk, during the walk I was attacked by a duck, no joke. It came up behind me and

leapt at my back, I was surprized because that had never happened to me before, EVER. When it hit the ground, with

its wings spread apart and the duck was hissing!!!! Cadence

On the holidays I got a baby chicken. I

named it chicken nugget. On the holidays I

went to my father’s house and I went to

cold rock as well as my cousin’s place. We

watched movies and played my Xbox.

Wow!!! School holidays been and gone and I can barely remember what I did!

There was good things and bad things throughout each day. Today I’m going to share with you a highlight for my

school holidays.

On the second week of the school holidays my friend, Eryn, came to my house for a sleepover. She came over

about 5pm as previously that day I did a horse riding clinic from 10am – 4pm. We ended up spending the first 2

and a half hours chatting and then we pulled out the original monopoly board game. We played until dinner and

then continued for another 30mins as then we had to bring in the spare mattress to set up. We ended up

watching a movie that night and had popcorn as a treat. After the movie finished we headed back to my room.

We then talked to each other until we decided to sleep. In the morning we got ready and fed our pet lamb as then

we had to take Eryn home. By: Sharni

On Friday I went to my godparents place and I was going to go there until Tuesday but instead I stayed until next Sunday. On Friday I saw Chloe (my friend), then I went to the playground and we played there. On Monday I went to her

place and we played Uno and I won 8 times and she won 2 games. The next day I went to her place again and had a sleepover. I was up until 12:00 with Chloe. On Wednesday she came over to my place and we made slime. On Thursday it was her

birthday and we went out for dinner with her and her family. On

Friday I saw Chloe and she came over and helped dye my hair red. For tea we got pizza, garlic bread, chips that had bacon and cheese on

top. By Ruby

On Monday 25th my mum, my brother and I went to the Warragul indoor Swimming Pool. First we woke up and then got dressed and our things ready. After we had breakfast at 6:45am, we headed off and went

swimming at 7am. When we were there we went to the pool and swam and I played with my brother which was lots of fun and then at

8:40am we got ready to go! and when we got home I just relaxed!! On Tuesday 26th I just relaxed and slept in… On Wednesday 27th my grandma, my brother, my mum and I went to the beach in Kilcunda.
