The Explorer’s Class is beginning a new series today on “The Atonement: 3 Views.” Today’s topic is the Classical Veiws - Martin Luther. Next Sunday will focus on St. Paul’s orthodox view. Rev. Tom Griffith is leading this 3-week series. All adults are welcome. 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room. Coffee is served.

The Adult Contemporary Issues Class is studying and discussing “Mythology, Religion and the Judeo-Christian Tradition.” We are exploring mythology as “literature of the Spirit, a study of the inner life” and examining the function of Judeo-Christian symbols as keys to our spiritual understanding. Class meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Adult Room.

Singles at Dayspring - Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. United Methodist Women meet on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the Adult Room. “Sowing Faith, Hope and Love” will be presented by Rev. Marvin Arnpriester, a retired UMC minister from Iowa. Please remember to bring your World Thank Offering to this meeting, a special offering of thanksgiving used to support mission projects of UMW. All Dayspring women are invited for fellowship and learning.

Fifty Plus - Come to the first meeting of the new season for 50+ on Friday, Oct. 19, at 12:00 noon in the Shalimar Country Club Restaurant, 2032 E. Golf Ave., Tempe. The Rev. Dr. Darvin Miller will speak about his visit to Africa University and Zimbabwe on a February 2012 mission trip. UMM Fall Retreat - The 12th Annual UMM Fall Retreat at beautiful Mingus Mountain (Prescott) will be Oct. 19-21. Dayspring Golf Outing - The Annual Dayspring Golf Outing sponsored by UMM will be Saturday, Nov. 10th, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Ahwatukee Country Club (48th St. and Warner). All Dayspring members and guests are invited (men and women). It’s a 4 person scramble with prizes for best and not so spectacular efforts. Dayspring Holiday Boutique Opening Night tickets will be for sale after both services today on the patio! Dad N’ Me Retreat - Mingus Mountain UM Camp will host their 4 th

annual Dad-N’-Me Camp, Oct. 26-28, 2012. The camp will be filled with all kinds of fun activities for dads and elementary school children to share. Granddads and kids are welcome too! The camp is for dads and kids of both genders between 4 and 10 years old. It begins on Friday night after dinner and ends on Sunday after lunch.
