NURTURING ENVIRONMENTALISTS
DPSG Palam Vihar hosted OxyAir, an air quality awareness drive to sensitise the students and to gear them up for environment friendly
initiatives. This event was organized in the school premises on 31st January ,2018. The students were explained about the importance of
monitoring the air quality index. An app called Vayu was launched that would help in monitoring the air quality index. This app was launched in
association with Clean Air Asia , an NGO that has been ceaselessly working for air quality management. To lend credence to the event, an inter
school painting competition was held and the theme was ways to curb air pollution and the detrimental effects of the same. A tree plantation
ceremony was also held to uphold the cause.The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. This was followed by the
rendition of the Saraswati Vandana. The launch of the app was the key event and it was graced by a host of luminaries like the Chief guest Shri
Pradeep Dahiya, Additional district commissioner, Gurugram , the guest of honour, Shri Vivek Saxena, Additional resident Commissioner,
Haryana. The head of HR, DPSG Society Shri Rohit Pathak and Ms. Prarthana Bohra , Director, Clean Air Asia were also present on the occasion.
The launch was also made fruitful by Mr. Nikhil Pattath Gopi, the senior scientist of National Institute of Solar Energy and Shri Subhash Yadav,
the general manager of Gurugram forest development Corporation. Songs and the dance performance added to enliven the programme and the
art aficionados who had excelled in the competition were felicitated for their wonderful creations. The event envisaged by school principal, Ms.
Deepika Sharma geared up the student fraternity to strive for promoting and nurturing the green belt to curb air pollution. The students took
a pledge to protect the environment as a life goal.
STAR TREK
DPSG, PV is a progressive institution that believes in imparting quality education. It has been our earnest endeavor to uphold
and promote the trends of digitization and consolidate the interest of the student community in understanding the nuances
pertaining to the cyber world.
In compliance with the same, the students of different institutions were invited to witness and thereby be a part of the star
Trek experience in the school premises. The 3D lab and the planetarium, the two unique features of DPSG Palam Vihar were
showcased and the students had the advantage of exclusive viewing of the same which helped them to gain relevant insights
pertaining to Space Science, General Science and Mathematics. There were about 500 students to witness the star trek
experience. A pen paper test was also conducted to consolidate the knowledge base of the students and to evaluate their
understanding of the key concepts which saw enthusiastic participation.
The programme envisaged by the school principal, Ms. Deepika Sharma was an enlightening exploration for the Science and
Mathematics enthusiasts. The first prize was bagged by 12 years old Khushboo Khan, from Maurya school. The prize distribution
ceremony was spearheaded by Mr. Ravinder DEO Gurugram and he gave away the prize to this deserving contestant. This Star
trek event proved to be an out of the world experience for the students community.

Special Assembly on Republic Day
A special assembly was presented on 25th January 2018
by the children of Class 3 A to celebrate ‘Republic day’.
The assembly commenced with a poem by Aarna
Kaushik. The speech was presented by Rashmi Sharma
followed by a Hindi poem by Aakash Khullar . Patriotic
song ‘Vande Mataram’ was sung by the children followed
by a English Skit.The children performed a scintillating
dance performance on this occasion. The children of
Class V presented a Hindi Skit.The assembly concluded
with the prize distribution to the students.

It was a feeling of great pride when the
students of Junior Wing from classes II-V
were felicitated for their achievements in
various fields -English Olympiad, DPSG
athletic meet etc. by the Headmistress Mrs.
Harmeet Kaur. Their achievement motivated
the others to do well in their field of activity.
EXAMS-FACE YOUR FEAR! -SPECIAL ASSEMBLYWith the aim to make the students of DPSG, PV
study regularly, face their final examination time
without fear, a special assembly was conducted on
09.02.18. The assembly was presented by the
students of class III F. It commenced with a
thought of the day followed by the sharing of
useful tips for preparation for the forthcoming
examination and facing the phobia for the same
boldly. A skit on importance of every subject, in
real life was showcased before the students. The
assembly ended with the dance presentation to
relax and rejuvenate students and do their best in
examination.
The Farewell Ceremony -Sayonara
The farewell ceremony to bid adieu to Class XII students was organised on 27th January 2018 in the school premises. Students of Class XI hosted the
show with enthusiasm and gusto. Songs and dances were part of the cultural bonanza that gave a special dimension to the event. A skit performed
by the students of Class XI was the special attraction. Various academic titles were conferred to honour and felicitate the students of Class XII for
their proficiency in various academic subjects. Students of the XIIth grade were given interesting titles that spoke volumes about their core
competence in diverse domains. Speaking on the occasion, the school principal, Ms. Deepika Sharma blessed the students of Class XII and wished
them all the very best for a great future ahead. An interesting question answer session to crown Mr. and Ms. DPSG was also conducted that
crowned Akshita Sachdeva of class XII D as Ms.DPSG. Tushar Nitharwal from the same class was adjudged to be Mr. DPSG. Principal maam did the
honours and it all culminated with a vote of thanks by the headgirl, Marya Haque. However, the finale dance by the students of Class XI proved to be
a scene stealer. Overall, it was an entertaining evening which touched a chord with the audience.
The students of IVF and IVG presented a special assembly on
road safety and first aid. They put up a small play in the form
of Nukkad Natak to share various first aid treatments that
can be given in different real life situations. The special
dance performance on traffic rules encouraged the students
to follow safety rules from their early age.The assembly
theme was also the science PBL topic for class IV.
Christmas Celebration
Christmas was celebrated with great pomp and show at primary
wing. The festivities included Christmas carol’s singing, dance
presentation and a special assembly by Class III E.
Principal, Mrs. Deepika Sharma wished all a merry Christmas and
talked about the importance of sharing. Then came the Santa who
arrival filled the entire gathering with joy.
Students got excited to receive the sweets gifted by the Santa and
danced to the beats of “Jingle Bells”.
Competition
DPSG Palam Vihar along with Clean Air

had organised and conducted an art
competition in the school campus on 31st
January’18. Students of primary school and
middle school participated on this spot
painting competition under the supervision of
teachers and Clean Air Asia. The theme for
the primary students was ‘Air Pollution’. All
the beautiful paintings of the competition
were displayed in the hall for gallery walk.
The primary school winners Bhavya Kindra
(4A), Tanvi Chavan (4B) and Shreya
Bhardwaj (5B) bagged the champions’ title
with great enthusiasm.
Report on Special Assembly – Farewell to Class V by
Primary Wing .
“I cannot say goodbye to those whom I have grown to
love, for the memories we have made will last a
lifetime, and will never know a goodbye.”
To bid adieu, wish good luck to students of class V as
they would now be a part of senior wing, a farewell was
organized by Primary wing, class IV students.
The morning assembly was a fiesta devoted to the years
spent together with friends and teachers to reminisce
joyous moments. It began with a welcome speech by
Paridhi of class IV. Principal madam, also enlightened
the students with an inspirational speech.
Students of class IV, presented a nukkad natak ‘Honslo
ki Udaan’ and a group dance which entertained the
audience to the fullest.
Students of class V, presented a skit which depicted
mixed emotions of students as they would enter a new
venture of life. A parting speech was given by Geet of
class V.
Summing up, the day was great, filled with nostalgia
and fun and excitement!
WINTER CARNIVAL
AAGAMAN’18 (20th January, 2018)
The winter carnival, Agaman 2018 was hosted by DPSG, Palam Vihar on 20th January 2018. Envisaged by the school principal, Ms. Deepika Sharma, the event proved to be a scene stealer and attracted phenomenal footfalls. Mirth and revelry reigned supreme as the students made way for the diverse games stalls along with the fun rides and the fusion food enthusiasts had a gala time as the delectable treats offered at the food stalls tickled their taste buds rustling up gastronomic delights.
The baby show added zing to the occasion and the ramp walk by the students of the pre-primary wing along with their parents proved to be a connoisseur’s delight. Performing art also got a shot in the arm as the talent hunt comprising of dance and karaoke competition paved the way for some amazing performances. The sit and draw completion and the craft competition upped the aesthetic sensibility of our student brigade.
Likewise, the cookery competition unveiled the splendid culinary skills of the students. The DJ enclosure was the hotspot where the participants danced away the blues. The school principal, Ms. Deepika Sharma spearheaded the prize distribution ceremony to felicitate the prize winners in the different categories along with the raffle draw in the sterling presence of the Guests of Honour, Shri Rishiraj Rana, and Shri Rakesh Jhangu. This magical extravaganza was a visual treat and lent the perfect ambience to mesmerize the audience.
Microsoft Workshop
DPSG Palam Vihar is a progressive school. To keep itself abreast
with latest in technology, the school is working with Microsoft as
its partner in being a Microsoft Showcase School.
Under the same program teachers teaching classes VI-VIII
attended a training session on the different technologies that
can be embedded in the classroom transaction.

ORIENTATION PROGRAM
The Orientation Program for the stream allocation for the forth coming batch of 11th standard for the academic year
2018-19 was held on 17th Feb 2018.The program began with presentation of school rules and the CBSE policies
regarding the stream allocation. To help the parents and students to make a right choice for the stream an expert,
Mr. Mandeep Singh Bachher, the Founding Director of Mindscan Education Pvt Ltd., was called. He guided the parents
on how to choose the best stream for their ward. He requested them not to push their wards to a particular stream
and stressed that students have a world of opportunities waiting for them. They need to be prepared to identify
them.
The HODs of Humanities, Science and Commerce stream presented their stream’s potential and future. The
prospective of optional subjects like Computer Science and Mathematics were also explained to the parents.
WORKSHOP ON KEY COMPETENCIES
To enable teachers to become competent in
their profession, the agenda of the workshop
conducted on 12th Jan’18 was key
competencies needed by students and teachers
in today’s education system.Ms. Mukta Sharma
started the session through different areas of
key competencies – how to define them,
integrate them into curriculum and assess the
competencies. She also threw some light on
lifelong learning of both students and teachers
and how to create an innovative classroom
using Bloom’s Taxonomy. At the end of the
workshop, teachers felt excited and believed
that the workshop has definitely enriched their
knowledge.
