A B IT OF BACKGROUND INFOR M ATION
The Order of the Little Sisters of Hoboken was founded in the seventh century by Saint Wilfred, a bishop of England. He established the first convent and school known as Wilfrid Academy. His motto was “We don’t teach beauty- we radiate it!” Many years later, a small group of pioneering sisters set out for America to estab-lish a motherhouse in Cleveland. But they got off the plane in Newark by mistake. The order was “found” by the Newark Airport Police and the new motherhouse was established in Hoboken, New Jersey. It was at that time that the Order of St. Wilfrid elected to change the name to the Little Sisters of Hoboken and they have been affectionately known as the “Little Hobos” ever since. It was from this con-vent that Sister Mary Cardelia, Sister Mary Hubert, and Sister Robert Anne set sail for the Mediterranean to establish their leper colony. Today the order has both nuns and brothers as members--all doing various good works in the Diocese of Newark. They also operate Mount Saint Helen’s School in Hoboken.

ABOUT THE S ISTERS
Sister Mary Regina, the beloved Mother Superior of the Little Sisters of Hoboken, is originally from a small county in Ireland called Kilquirky. She headed the pioneering group of reli-gious who established the leper colony in the Mediterranean. After Nunsense, Mother Superior says she has no desire to continue in the theatre. But rumor has it that she would consider doing national commercials or a television series to raise money for the Order.
Sister Mary Hubert entered the Little Sisters of Hoboken upon gradua-tion from Precious Blood Elementary School. Sister currently serves the Order as Mistress of Novices, train-ing new recruits. Her position is not unlike a drill sergeant, however, she is the first to point out that her approach is more gentle- but firm. Sister is a little “off-the-wall” at times but this has been attributed to the fact that she was trampled by a camel that went berserk during the annual
nativity pageant held in the leper colony. (She was portraying one of the three wise men.).
Sister Mary Robert Anne was a child of a disadvantage Brooklyn family. After dropping out of Verna’s Cashier School, Reverend Mother took pity on the poor little girl and accepted her into the Little Sisters of Hoboken, where she became Sister Mary Robert Anne. Today she is one of the most popular sisters with New Jersey kids because she speaks their language. Reverend Mother regrets the fact that a lot of this language is unprintable. Sister Robert Anne had a very checkered career prior to entering the convent.
Sister Mary Amnesia is truly a lost soul. She arrived at the convent in her habit without a clue as to her iden-tity…recalling only that a crucifix fell on her head.
Sister Mary Leo came to the order from an Illinois farm. She entered the convent to dedicate her life to God through the dance. Many people think that she took her name from the fa-mous “leotard,” but that is not true. She is named after her Uncle Leo, a notori-ous Chicago gangster. Sister thought that by taking his name, the Lord would go easy on him. She is a novice and has much to learn.
Dan Goggin (Writer) conceived the idea for the musical Nunsense after the phenomenal success of the Nunsense greeting card line, which he created with Marilyn Farina. Dan has also writ-ten scores for the Off-Broadway musical HARK; the Broadway production Legends, starring Elizabeth Ashley and F. Murray Abraham; Seven, starring Jane White; the musical A One Way Ticket to Broadway; and two revues: Because We’re Decadent and Something for Everybody’s Mother. Dan has applied for admission to the Little Order of Hoboken, but Sister Mary Regina says she is much too busy with Nunsense to answer any letters now.
March 9 -25, 2012
By William GibsonThe remarkable story of Helen Keller – blind, deaf, and mute – and Annie Sullivan, the teacher who opened
Helen’s world through the power of words. Annie must control both Helen’s wild behavior and her family’s pity
in order to reach inside Helen’s mind and help give her the ability to communicate. All the while Annie
struggles with memories of her own tragic past. This classic play is a powerful tale of determination and love,
and the ways in which language connects us all.

B IOGR APHIES
Diana Carl Alioto (Director/Choreographer)Since 2003, Diana has been touring the U.S. and Canada as
“Sister” in the one-woman shows, LATE NITE CATECHISM I, II and III; SISTER’S CHRISTMAS CATECHISM, and SISTER’S EASTER CATECHISM. She received a BA in Theatre from Marquette University and an MFA in acting and directing from Binghamton University in New York. Diana directed AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS for Milwaukee Opera Theatre, and is currently the drama director at Cedarburg High School. She has appeared in numerous television commercials and print ads in the Midwest, but Milwaukee audiences may remember Diana as Bettina Barnes in PSYCHO BEACH PARTY and Bunny in THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES with Bialystock & Bloom, Fraulein Kost in CABARET, Matron “Mama” Morton in CHICAGO with Skylight Opera Theatre, and Kaye in THE TAFFETAS with Milwaukee Chamber Theatre. By day, Diana is the Director of Artistic Operations at Skylight Opera Theatre.
Beth Bland (Co-Props Mistress)This is Beth’s second year with Sunset, and she is also active with the West Allis Players and
Waukesha Civic Theatre.
Bria Cloyd (Sister Mary Hubert)Bria is a novice actor making her musical theatre debut in NUNSENSE. She
studied American Sign Language and Theatre at UW-Milwaukee before realizing her heart was in acting. Bria hasn’t been taken seriously since. Her
most recent role was “Missie Mae” in the stage play SPUNK. When Bria is not on stage, she enjoys singing and writing music. She would like to thank her family and Sunset Playhouse, and dreams of one day making the stage a permanent home.
Joanne Cunningham (Costume Coordinator)Joanne began “designing” clothes for her Barbie dolls
many years ago, using paper towels and aluminum foil...fortunately for the actors, she has since discovered fabric! After designing two huge productions at Wisconsin Hills Middle School (PIRATES OF PENZANCE and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST), she joined the costume department at Sunset for DROWSY CHAPERONE and has not yet left the building.

B IOGR APHIES (c o n t.)
J. Michael Desper (Resident Designer/Technical Director)J. Michael Desper has designed over 70 productions for Sunset Playhouse
since the summer of 2001. Previously he freelanced in Chicago for such companies as Circle Theatre of Forest Park, Pendulum Theatre, and Bowen Park Theatre and Opera. Before that, he earned his Master’s degree at San Diego State University and worked for the Tony Award-winning La Jolla Playhouse. Originally from Oklahoma, Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. In spring 2008, he briefly returned to educational theatre with a stint as Guest Artist and Instructor for North Dakota State University. He would like to extend an invitation to anyone interested in the technical aspects of theatre (and since you have read this far, there must be some interest) to give us a call at (262) 782-4431, ext. 235. We’re already working on the next show, so come be a part of what you see.
Paula Garcia (Stage Manager)Paula is thrilled to be back at Sunset, this time behind the curtain. She couldn’t miss the opportunity
to work on one of her favorite shows with this fabulous cast and crew, especially after playing Sister Amnesia in Sunset’s previous NUNSENSE production. You’ve also seen her in front of the curtain here in BABY, BROADWAY ROMANCE, MID-LIFE, THE CRISIS MUSICAL and last year’s JINGLE JIVE Musical Mainstage. Paula is in her thirteenth season singing with the Milwaukee Choral Artists, Milwaukee’s premier professional women’s vocal ensemble. Many thanks to Jan for the re-education.
Karen Kegel (Co-Props Mistress) I’ve been around the Sunset Playhouse for a couple of years now and really enjoy
volunteering here. It’s always a joy to see returning actors and meet new ones. Thanks to everyone for helping and for answering my millions of questions. A big thanks to my co-props mistress Beth. Enjoy the show!!
Lori Nappe (Sister Mary Leo) After working “in the booth” for numerous productions running the light
board and/or sound board, Lori is delighted to be making her performing debut here at the Sunset Playhouse. No stranger to the stage, Lori spent two years in Wausau where her credits include BLITHE SPIRIT (Elvira, Oasis Theater Ensemble), STEEL MAGNOLIAS (Shelby, Oasis Theatre Ensemble), and THE CRUCIBLE (Abigail, Oasis Theatre Ensemble). When she isn’t strutting her holy stuff with the Little Sisters of Hoboken, she proudly spends her days teaching first grade at Blair Elementary in Waukesha. A big thank you to my family and friends for always being there for me! You all mean everything to me! Thank you to Matt Zembrowski for making me audition for this show and finding the guts to ask me out by the box office.
Brian Myers (Music Director) Brian is a versatile performer and composer, with roles in musical theatre, opera,
drama, and many professional choral engagements to his credit. He works regularly as a music director and a
7Nunsense

teaching artist for young students of music and theatre. His one-act musical, “STATUS: a music drama for the digital age”, had its New York City premiere this year. The coming year will see the release of his first studio album, a return to Carnegie Hall with the Philadelphia Singers, and his debut with Milwaukee Opera Theater. Dig his fan page on Facebook for the latest!
Jan Nehring-Szczepanski (Stage Manager)An active volunteer at Sunset Playhouse since 1984 when she appeared in
FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Jan has only appeared on this stage in four other shows since. But she has experienced virtually every other aspect of the theatre, serving six years as the Stage
Management chair and two terms on the Board of Directors. She was chair of the Volunteer Committee and is currently co-chair of the Volunteer Choice Awards. Jan is a Life Member of the playhouse and the proud recipient of its Volunteer of the Year “Rudy Award”. You too could become a Life Member--just come on out and volunteer! Jan is stage managing NUNSENSE for the second time and still finds the show “nunsensically” funny and hopes that all of you do too!
Lee Szczepanski (Lighting Designer)Lee has been a member of Sunset since the 1980’s. He is currently serving on Sunset’s Board
of Directors.

Antoinette Stikl (Mother Superior)Thrilled to play your Mother Superior today, Antoinette was last seen at Sunset as Suzanne
in DEARLY DEPARTED. She then embraced the role of M’Lynn in STEEL MAGNOLIAS. Concerned that in the last three shows someone “expired”, she hopes this won’t become a habit. Other credits include DAMN YANKEES, ANNIE, BRIGADOON, OUR TOWN, MOON OVER BUFFALO, CAMELOT, and NUNSENSE (Sister Hubert). Thanks to my family and friends for your support; hugs to my Turpin Sisters. Remember, don’t rush through life and keep the spotlight on.
Emily Wacker Schultz (Sister Mary Amnesia)Emily is thrilled to return to the Sunset stage, where she previously
appeared in GUYS AND DOLLS and OF THEE I SING. She holds a degree in theatre arts from Marquette University and is grateful to Di, Brian, Jan, Paula, and her “Sisters” for sharing their
incredible talents and many laughs along the way. Thanks to my amazing family and friends-- especially Steve for letting me be your bride and a nun in the same year – love you!
Cat Zimmerman (Sr. Robert Anne)After a much-too-long sabbatical from musical theatre, Cat is thrilled to have rejoined “the
insanity” this past year! During her years off the theatrical stage, Cat enjoyed directing, singing and competing with a variety of Sweet Adeline quartets and choruses, achieving a rank as high as seventh in the world as a quartet member and earning the International Championship singing with the Melodeers Chorus from Northbrook, IL. Previous favorite theatrical roles include Amy in COMPANY, Irene Adler in BAKER STREET, Lola in DAMN YANKEES, and Corie Bratter in BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, as well as appearing in both of Dale Gutzman’s BIG BAND REVUES at the Pabst Theatre. Cat is having a blast working with this fabulous cast and crew, and hopes this will be the first of many productions with the Sunset Playhouse.

Song and Dance Man, a bug in a rug productionAdapted from the Caldecott Medal awarded book by Karen Ackerman, our tale tells a sweet story about the importance of family and its rich history. Two chil-dren follow their grandpa into his attic, and in the most forgotten section of that dusty room, there is an old trunk. When the trunk is opened, the past sings and dances to remind the children how much fun it is to live life! Used by permission of Alfred A. All the local busi-ness that is fit to talk about in Tuna hits the airwaves on Tuna’s local radio station, shining a spotlight on the fine upstanding citizens and their small town way of dealing with life. Two actors portray over 20 of Tuna’s crazy characters in this “tour de farce” that is a comedy triumph with costume changes and character flips that will amaze and astound audiences.February 23-March 11, 2012
