Chairwoman’s Introduction 2018This year Nunney & District Flower Show will include a village fête. We have joined forces with the Nunney Community Association and other voluntary groups in our village, together with the church, school, and pre-school, in order to bring back a traditional village fête for everyone to enjoy.

The day will kick off during the morning with a family treasure trail around Nunney, ending up at the village hall in time for the start of the fête at 12.30pm. There will be a pop-up café serving lunches and cream teas plus a hog roast, ice cream van, and bar.

We will be asking villagers to get together tug-o-war teams for all ages and there will also be a variety of games and stalls by locals on offer plus much, much more!

Book out the 1st September 2018 in your diary and come and enjoy a day organised by the people of Nunney for the people of Nunney and the surrounding villages!

Jennifer Bowskill, Chairwoman of Nunney & District Flower Show

facebook.com/NunneyFlowerShow

All proceeds made from the flower show proper will be put back into the flower show for next year, and to fund other Flower Show events. All proceeds made by the stalls at the fête will remain with whichever village organisation is running that stall. These monies will be used for various community projects.

Judges’ advice

• Shape, thought, and effort are what the judges are looking for here. Plant material should be in pristine condition and should be in water-retaining material (eg foam, moss, etc), or in a vase with water.

• Large-headed flowers should be to the bottom, to provide focus to the exhibit.

• Buttonholes or corsages should not be wrapped in foil as this leads the eye away from the display. The exhibit should be tied and displayed in a container, to prop it up.
