Clárúchán / Registration The Bord Bainistíochta is dealing with clárúchán / registration at the moment. There is huge pressure on

the scoil again this year with lots of páistí awaiting a place. There are 22 siblings this year which puts

huge pressure on us and only leaves very limited places for others. We will continue to fight for a bigger

scoil with more facilities which would allow two classes a year. It is such a pity to see so many páistí

turned away each year unable to secure a place in our Gaelscoil in Naíonáin Bheaga.

Gaeilge

Please remind your páistí that in Gaelscoil Cholmcille Gaeilge is the language used each day. Please

support at home as often as you can. There are plenty of resources and opportunities.

Poncúlacht / Punctuality

There was a slight improvement this week but today Friday 2ú there were 25 páistí late for scoil again.

We ask that with Spring in the air that you all make a huge effort to have páistí in the líne by 8.50 ar

maidin.

Culaith Scoile / Uniform

Meabhrú that ranganna get extra pointí on Mondays & Wednesdays if all páistí wear their culaith scoile.

Béasaí/manners — Meas/respect

We have had to remind páistí to show respect for other páistí and for the adults / staff in Gaelscoil.

Páistí should always be respectful and also show respect for all school property.

Obair bhaile/homework

Obair bhaile is reinforcing the obair done in scoil. Please ensure that all obair bhaile is done including

litriú/spellings, táblaí/tables, léitheoireacht/reading. See nóta on léitheoireacht. It is so important to

listen to reading and to do paired reading with páistí always. Obair bhaile should only be signed when all

obair bhaile is checked and you are happy that it is complete.

about safe usage of their phones / tablets / ipads. Please monitor their messages and images at least

once a week. Install apps to limit their usage to access sites. An excellent app for iphones is ‘Our Pact’.

Ensure they are using appropriate language and have privacy settings on sharing apps. Two good

resources are: www.cybersafeireland.org and www.webwise.ie

Boscaí Trócaire / Trócaire Boxes All Trócaire boxes will go out Monday the 12/2/18. Last year you tuistí collected €968 for Trócaire.

Sábháilteacht/Safety

Meabhrán arís that you all follow the path when going home. Please do not walk through the car park.

Astro / Páirceáil/parking

Arís be aware of where not to park in Astro. An incident was reported this week that a parent showed

great disrespect towards another parent who simply asked him not to park in allocated spaces.

RSA - Caint ar Shábháiltecht Bóithre / Road Safety

Fuair gach rang caint (talk) iontach inné trí Ghaeilge ó Lisa ón RSA. Páistí were made aware of all rules in

relation to road safety.

Sábháilteacht ar an Idirlíon / Internet Safety Talk

Beidh caint sa scoil ar an 20ú Feabhra do ranganna 3, 4, 5, 6 faoi shábháilteacht idirlíon. A talk for Rang a

3, 4, 5, 6 will take place on Tuesday 20th February on internet safety.

Comhrá o Bhéal / Oral Language - Múinteoir Caitríona

We would encourage tuistí to reduce screen time for their páistí. During recent informal oral language

assessments we have noted quite limited vocabulary among páistí. Many páistí are quoting characters

or apps used on the phone or pc for words. We are always trying to support our páistí’s language

development. Therefore we are looking for your support in highlighting new words to your páiste.

Discuss everyday activities with them. Make use of new words regularly. In Naí. Mhóra, Rang a 1, Rang

a 2 we are looking for ‘wow’ words every week. Míle buíochas.

Graffiti Classics - Ceol, Music Workshop

Bhí seó iontach ag Rang a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 agus 6 ar an 23/2/18. Bhí an ceol ar fheabhas and all páistí enjoyed

this beautiful classical music workshop.

Carthanachtaí Supported / Other Charities Supported

Ag an Nollaig bhí €950 bailithe do Dhaidí na Nollag. Gaelscoil Cholmcille helps various charities each

year. This year we supported the charities below:

Tosnaíonn traenáil do na buachaillí Rang a 4, 5, 6 gach Luan le Múinteoir Aodán 2.30 – 3.30. Buachaillí to

wear éide scoile ar scoil and change into football gear in halla before training.

C.L.G. Fionnbhrú / Whitehall - Peil sa Scoil Tá Seán ó Whitehall GAA linn gach Déardaoin. Seán will be with us for 6 weeks. He will take all páistí

from Naí Bheaga to Rang a 3. We are delighted that Mark and Jim are also back each Thursday coaching

Rang a 4, 5, 6. Buíochas mór for this huge input from tuistí.

Athrothlú Éadaí / Liberty Recycling All málaí éadaí will be collected on Friday 23/2/18. Málaí can be left from Wednesday 21/2/18 ag an

scoil.

Seachtain Innealltóireachta / Engineering Week - 26ú Feabhra – 30ú Feabhra Some activities will be organised for páistí ar scoil during this week. More information later.

Lá Domhanda na Leabhar / World Book Day - 1/3/18 Arís páistí will participate in activities on this day and during the week. Páistí will also get a token.

Spórt - Whitehall Colmcille - Open Recruitment Day Come and learn the skills of Gaelic football, hurling and camogie. Register on Saturday 3rd Feb from

Leadóg / Tennis – Spring Programme Tennis coaching €30 for eight weeks for boys and girls from 5 – 17 years. Starts end January / early

February. All information on www.parkstennis.com Is é Jim an múinteoir leadóige atá sa scoil a

dhéanann é seo. He would love to see lots of páistí from the Gaelscoil out in the fresh air practicing their

tennis.

Lá na Gruaige Craiceáilte - Amount raised €203.50 which will be going towards workshops organised by the scoil.

Lá na bPancóga - Dé Máirt 13ú Feabhra - Cairde na Tuistí will be giving out pancakes to the paistí on the morning from 9:30 a.m. Anyone interested in helping out, please talk to your Class Rep.

PÁCÁIL MÁLAÍ / BAG PACKING Dé Sathairn 24ú Feabhra - Saturday 24th of February 10:00am - 7:00 Supervalu Santry Bag packing will take place in Supervalu Lorcan from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on Saturday the 24th of February next. Each rang has been given an allocated hour and three volunteers are needed. Some rangs have already filled their time slot which is brilliant and we would ask that anyone who is available to let their rep know as soon as possible. This is a big fundraiser for the school and is even more important this year given that all funds raised will be going towards the purchase of new Interactive Whiteboards.
