Have you ever walked among the canopy of the Amazon jungle? Or explored the intriguing archaeological site of Machu Picchu? Have you stargazed under the Andean night sky? This adventure will take you inside the culture and history of this fascinating region as we experience life here alongside the local people.

Day 1: LimaWelcome to Lima, Peru. Transfer to your hotel and explore your neighborhood, or just relax.

Day 2: LimaYou decide how to explore Lima: by foot or by bike. The walking tour takes you through the old streets of Lima, built on top of an existing palace and temples; the bike tour takes you down Morro Solar, with stunning views of shimmering Lima Bay.

Day 3: Lima > AmazonAfter a short flight to Puerto Maldonado you'll head for the Amazon jungle! Boat along the Madre de Dios River to an Amazon lodge. After lunch, walk through Concepcion Trails - indoor nature trails - where you'll learn about the rainforest. At dusk, navigate by motorized canoe for a Twilight River excursion.

Day 4: AmazonVenture further into the Amazon with a trek through Tambopata National Reserve toward Lake Sandoval. Navigate by dugout canoe across mirror-like Oxbow Lake, home to abundant wildlife including otters, macaw and red howler monkeys. The Canopy and Anaconda Walk is your passage up towers and across hanging bridges. Breathtaking views are dotted with white-throated toucans, squirrel monkeys and the three-toed sloth. A Rainforest by Night excursion showcases another side of the jungle.

Day 5: Amazon > CuscoJourney to Cusco, the former capital of the Incan Empire. Take time to acclimatize to the city’s 11,150 foot altitude. Relax or enjoy a light stroll around the continent’s oldest continuously inhabited city.

Day 6: CuscoA walking tour showcases the charm and history of Cusco. The afternoon is free for you to explore your way. Learn about Peruvian culture with a cooking class, or take a bike tour out to the impressive Sacsayhuamán fortress, the Tambomachay temple or more Inca sites.

Day 7: Cusco > Aguas CalientesIn the Sacred Valley, visit a local community and learn about life in the Andes. Practice speaking Quechua while you enjoy a delicious lunch cooked by the locals. Visit the Ollantaytambo ruins before your train ride to Aguas Calientes, the town below Machu Picchu.

Day 8: Aguas Calientes > CuscoTraverse the zigzagging road as you travel toward the sacred Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu. Our Insider Expert brings the impressive ancient ruins – the Incan Empire’s masterpiece – to life. Explore this deeply stirring site, which some say is the spiritual vortex of the world. The scenic train from Aguas Calientes takes you to Ollantaytambo before a transfer to a boutique hotel in Cusco.

Day 9: CuscoAn unscripted day in Cusco is all yours. Later, a sunset stand-up paddleboard excursion at Piuray Lake is followed by a yoga session. This amazing Peruvian adventure closes with a delicious dinner and stargazing under the Andean night sky.

Day 10: CuscoAfter breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight to Lima. Depart for home.
