The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans non-profit organization. On the State and National level, The American Legion has great political influence on supporting issues and benefits for the nation’s veterans and the military. This year, the American Legion is celebrating its 100th Anniversary.
The American Legion Post 245 Family consists of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of The American Legion and the American Legion Riders. The eligibility for membership in the American Legion is open to any veteran who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces since 1941, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving on active duty. Legion member’s spouses and daughters/ granddaughters are eligible to join the Auxiliary and sons/grandsons are eligible to join the Sons of the American Legion. Membership in the American Legion Riders requires the individual to be a member of the Legion, Auxiliary or SAL and own a motorcycle.
The American Legion supports children and youth programs, such as the Oratorical Scholarship Contest, Boys State Program and Girls State Program and local Scholarships. Our Mission: To promote and strengthen the prosperity of our members
and our community. Our Vision:
To make Seguin the best choice to live, work, play and prosper.
Pat Grigg has been a Seguin Chamber Ambassador for ‘a long time!’ “I have always enjoyed volunteering or being involved with activities in our community,” she said. “Before becoming an Ambassador, I served on various Chamber committees and I felt this was another way I could serve the Chamber and still be involved.”
Pat enjoys attending the After-Hours Mixer and interacting with other attendees. A State-Certified Paralegal 1967through 1988, Pat managed a local title company before becoming a mortgage loan originator at a local bank. After retirement, she continues to serve as a senior consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics.
Not only does Pat volunteer for the Chamber, she also is involved in Zonta and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority - both organizations whose missions are service and advocacy. Previously, she volunteers with the Aggie Moms, Mid-Texas Symphony and Texas Association of Symphony Orchestras. She taught Sunday School at
First United Methodist Church and was a board member of the United Fund.
Pat’s family moved to Seguin in 1957 and she’s lived here most of her life. She enjoys living in this community because of “its central location, small-town feel and the dedication of the people who live here.”
She invites new residents to relocate here “if you are looking for volunteer opportunities, friends or a supportive community to work and reside in, you should definitely consider making a move to Seguin.

Schlotzsky’s TransformationSchlotzsky’s Austin Eatery Seguin’s Team celebrated their com-
pleted remodeling and rebranding with a ribbon cutting recently. In 1971, an original Austin eatery opened in a tiny shop on South Congress. Back then, they only sold one sandwich—The Original®. And they served it on a frisbee, because, why not? “We baked our bread from scratch every morning. And closed our doors when we ran out. After selling one sandwich for quite some time, we began to make — wait for it — two sandwiches.”
According to schlotzskys.com, they waited until they mastered each and every sandwich before they brought in unique salads and pizzas. “Today, we still bake to the timer of our own ovens. In every restaurant. Every morning. We fuse aged traditions with chef creations. We craft by hand. We create originals.”
Schlotzsky’s offers a full menu and a catering menu for small to large crowds. The menu includes sandwiches, salads, soups, gourmet pizzas, flatbreads, vegetarian, Cinnabon and more.
Schlotzsky’s is located at 330 N. Hwy 123 Bypass. Call Catering Manager TJ Mitchell at (830) 379-1202.

At the October Mixer at TLU, Karen Taylor’s name was drawn to win $1,200!!! And she wasn’t there! Do you know what that means?
Yep - the attendance drawing will increase to $1,250 at the WEDNESDAY, Nov. 13 Mixer at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center hosted by GRM Foundation and Hospice.
As background, every month, we cut up a current list of Chamber members and we pick one name out of the bucket. If that person is NOT at the Mixer, well, let’s just say it’s not pretty.
