PROGR A M

Allan Harris is a world-class singer, guitarist and songwriter. Perhaps best known for his in-terpretations of jazz standards, Allan’s smooth vocals and guitar-styling easily crosses genres, from jazz to rock to blues.

Three-time winner of the New York Nightlife Award for “Outstanding Jazz Vocalist”, Tony Bennett calls Mr. Harris “my favorite singer” and The New York Times’ Stephen Holden raves about “the protean talent that is Allan Harris.” Allan has cultivated a global following, play-ing for packed audiences and received outstanding reviews throughout the United States, Europe, Russia and the Far East. He is regularly featured at the world’s great music festivals, e.g. Jazz Aspen, Wien Jazz Festival in Austria and the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy.

Allan Harris’s artistry transcends his diverse vocal performances. Harris has composed “Cross That River”, a full-scale musical celebrating the Old West as told through the words and mu-sic of a black cowboy, and has received a prestigious Chamber Music America Grant for that work. The theatrical production of “Cross That River” played to rave reviews during the 2009 New York Musical Theater Festival and is currently in pre-production for a long-term run in early 2011. Several original songs from “Cross That River” are also frequently featured in The Allan Harris Band’s concert performances.

In addition to music, Allan is passionate about giving back. He is a long-time supporter of the Children’s Miracle Network (helping to raise funds for children’s hospitals), and has performed many times alongside Vince Gill and Amy Grant at the Challenge Aspen Gala, an annual charity concert/golf tournament to benefit military service people who have sustained disabilities.

As a Gibson Guitar featured artist, Allan and Ruby (his constant canine companion and the first dog music critic) can frequently be found rehearsing at the Gibson Hit Factory, and along with The Allan Harris Band, enjoy playing the top music clubs in his hometown of New York City.

The distinguished American pianist JEFFREY SIEGEL has been soloist with the world’s great orchestras. STEVE LIPPIA has become one of the most prominent, in-demand vocalists and has quickly established his place among the finest interpreters of “standards” and tradi-tional pop music in the nation. Steve’s youthful, energetic talent and powerful show creates a perfect blend of “classic” with “today”. His show introduces a new generation to this timeless music, while appealing to long-time listeners.

Steve has headlined in highly successful, extended engagements at the Rio Suites Ho-tel and Casino in Las Vegas and Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, where SRO audi-ences lined up more than two hours before show time to vie for seating. He has performed in multiple engagements for Hilton Atlantic City and Casino Windsor, among others.

Steve’s much acclaimed, self-titled CD was recorded at Warner Brothers’ Studios in Los Angeles with a 41-piece symphony. In addition, Steve has recorded “Steve Lippia Live”, a collection of some of his live performances. His much anticipated third CD, titled “Steve Lippia in Concert”, was released June 16, 2009.

Steve is a native of Southington Connecticut. He makes his home in Las Vegas, Nevada with his wife and 2 miniature German Schnauzers.

The Wisconsin Lutheran Choir, Chamber Choir and Chapel Choir will present the Christmas Choral Concert, a presentation of seasonal sacred choral music ranging from the ancient to the contemporary, popular Advent hymns to traditional European madrigals. Performances are December 1-3, 2010, at 8 p.m. each evening and December 4, 2011, at 3 p.m.

The Wisconsin Lutheran College Music Department presents the Winter Band Concert on Friday, December 9, 2011, at 8 p.m. The Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band, under the direction of Professor Terry Treuden, is an ensemble that performs the finest of the wind band literature and presents concerts on the campus and tours regionally and nation-ally. The membership in this organization is through a seating audition. The band meets five hours each week while exploring a wide variety of band compositions and arrangements.

American organist Clive Driskill-Smith will appear in the Schwan Concert Hall on Sunday, February 19, 2012, at 3 p.m. Hailed as a “star of a new generation” (Evening Standard), critics have praised his “blazing technique” and “unbelievable virtuosity” (Amer-ican Guild of Organists). After a year as Organ Scholar at Winchester Cathedral in England and Assistant Organist at Winchester College, he went up to Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford University, as the Christopher Tatton Organ Scholar.
