In Spanish, the adjective usually comes after the noun

Noun-Adjective Agreement

In Spanish, adjectives match the gender and number of the nouns they describe.

Here’s how…

Noun- Adjective Agreement

Adjectives that end in –e (for example, inteligente) match BOTH genders.

Example: El maestro inteligenteLa maestra inteligente

Noun-Adjective Agreement

Many adjectives that end in a consonant match both genders.

Example el amigo jovenla amiga joven

Some adjectives that end in a consonant add –a to form the feminine singular. These exceptions have to be memorized!

Example el chico trabajadorla chica trabajadora

Forming Plural Adjectives

To make an adjective plural, add -s if it ends in a vowel; add -es if it ends in a consonant

Examples Las chicas trabajadoras Los chicos trabajadores

So… alta, alto, altas, and altos ALL mean tall… just depends on gender of noun
