Our growth over the years is attributed to the support that we receive from our members and the community. Without it we would not be where we are today. In March of 1992, the Community Center opened its doors to the community. Our goal is dedicated to the health, wellness, educational, recreational and social needs of Cheyenne County. We have strived to fulfill that mission statement throughout the years and become what we like to call “Cheyenne County’s Recreational Hub”, where we organize adult and youth sports, activities, fitness, meetings and a gathering place for family events. With the reopening of the daycare in 2003 it has grown to where we are licensed for 104 children with over 150 families utilizing this service. In fact, March of 2017 we will celebrate our 25 th anniversary. Stay tuned for more news on our special celebration. Today, I am asking everyone for their support. Without your past support we would not exist. Support can come in many ways through many ways through purchasing memberships, helping buy a future of the Community Center for generations to come. This is where you as a member of the Community Center can support the very mission we have been accomplishing over the last 24 years. If you truly believe that the Community Center has impacted your life or someone you know and would like to see that continue in the future, please consider making a Planned Gift to the foundation. Also, some of you might not have been around to participate in the original fundraising effort and might consider doing that now. Our case for support is in the fact that we have been impacting the lives of people in this community and surrounding areas for over 24 years. My belief is that now is the time for everyone to consider the importance of keeping assets within our community and strengthen the programs and services for our children and grandchildren. We will continue to make a difference in the lives of everyone in our community because I know that our mission statement is strong. The support can and will remain true to that mission if long term commitments to impacting lives remains important to all. Please remember that my door is always open for discussion. Hello everyone! Another season of fall sports has come to an end and it is hard to believe how fast this year’s programs went! We have already wrapped up a handful of youth sports leagues, which include our Youth Flag Football league where we had 5 teams of Boys and Girls grades 1st -2nd, South Platte Youth Football league we had 2 teams of 3rd -4th graders and2 teams of 5th -6th graders. We also

wrapped up our fundamental youth volleyball camp for grades 3rd -6th this is then extended for our 5th -6th graders to CoNe Volleyball League where the girls played for 4 weekend at surrounding schools to finish with a tournament here in Sidney. Each of these leagues was very eventful, and it was extremely exciting to see the growth in all of the athlete’s abilities from the start of the season to the end! Currently we have a Coed Volleyball on Monday nights starting at 6:45 and Women’s Volleyball on Wednesday nights. This means the gym will be occupied on the West side Monday night and closed on both sides at 5:00pm on Wednesday nights. Youth Basketball will be kicking off its season with a Fundamental Clinic starting November 7th and will run for two weeks. This clinic will be offered for 3rd-6th grade girls and boys. This clinic is intended to help players as well as coaches when it comes to the proper fundamentals of basketball. After this clinic teams will be divided up equally by mixing 3rd and 4th graders and 5th and 6th graders together to participate in our Center League. Games will be played all day on December 3rd, 10th, and 17th. We will have each team play 2 games and many area teams join us for these games. Once these games are done our season will come to a break for a few weeks to enjoy the holiday season. After the New Year, Wyo-Braska and tournament play will kick off the traveling season. Wyo-Braska will last for 6 weeks alternating boys and girls each weekend, allowing us to host for two weekends here in Sidney. Let’s continue to have high amounts of participation for both kids and adults! Sports not only are fun, but also have many benefits of health!

Hi, everyone! My name is Cassie Frerichs. I am 25 years old and recently just got engaged to an amazing man! A little bit about myself, I grew up on a ranch 12 miles outside of Dalton, NE. I have two younger brothers. Growing up on a ranch we had a very active lifestyle, we were constantly helping my dad feed cows and fixing fence. Having two younger brothers made me very competitive it would drive me nuts if they beat me at anything. I attended Leyton Public Schools, where I enjoyed playing volleyball, basketball, and running track (sometimes). My parents have always been very encouraging and supportive of me and never missed a single activity. After I graduated from high school I attended Chadron State College, for 3 years and

transferred to the University of Wyoming. Once I finished college I decided to want to live where I grew up and came back to the Sidney area. I love small towns and being able to enjoy the outdoors. I am extremely active and enjoy any outdoor and sports activities. But my true passion is fitness. I did not love working out when I was younger, I actually really disliked running. All that

changed when I went to college. I was dealing with some personal issues and found running and working out to be the best kind of therapy for me. It was a way for me to relieve all the stress that I had built up in me and let it go. Running is something that truly makes me happy and makes me feel alive. Not to mention it helps allow me to eat more of what I want. Growing up I was never big at all I was extremely little. I struggle with any weight lifting activity and had not much muscle to me. When I transferred to the University of Wyoming, I joined CrossFit 7220 when I first started I was very skeptical. I sometimes would do CrossFit workouts at the gym, but I really did not know what I was doing nor would I push myself to actually get a decent workout from it. I was content with just running and the occasional sit up routine that I normally did. CrossFit brought back the competitive nature in me and my desire to live a healthy life. It gave me the power and confidence I need to try anything and to not give up on my goals. I found out what I truly loved was working out with others. Having someone to keep me accountable and make sure I do get that one more rep and show up day after day. When working out on alone I realize that it is really easy to say “I’m tired maybe tomorrow”. When you have someone holding you accountable and waiting for you it is very hard to say no. I live, dream and eat fitness every day of my life. I fell in love with fitness. I want to share my love with others who have the aspiration to become a better stronger version of their selves. I believe anyone can reach their goal and I will help guide and show you the correct steps to get there. My mission is to help everyone find themselves healthy through the help of education, motivation, and coaching of fitness, nutrition, natural health and lifestyle. I think that it is very important to find time for yourself and your health every day.

Learning Korner had a wonderful time at our Halloween party!!

Everyone looked so adorable in their costumes. We also had a great time reading

pumpkin books, learning about how a pumpkin grows and about the letter “O,”

colors black and orange. Thanksgiving has entered into all of our learning

activities. Native Americans, Pilgrims, pumpkins, and many reasons why we are so

thankful. We will be working on our sounds of alphabet, rhyming words, shapes, and numbers

1-40. Christmas is coming near and your child will be singing fun December songs.

It’s hard to believe that the holiday seasons are fast approaching us, with these come many exciting activities for or kiddos! Who doesn’t love to disguise turkey to help save his life, talk about what we are thankful for, make gifts for our family, sing Christmas songs and anticipate Santa’s arrival. It will definitely be an exciting fun filled two months. As we wind down the 2016 year we would like to thank all the staff, parents and community for the continues support in early childhood education. Kids Korner will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 24 and also on Nov. 25th. Kid’s Korner is in full swing with our Sixpence/Step up to quality program/grant. We

have been assigned a Coach-Mentor that visits us once a week. She will help us with meeting and achieving our goals that will better our center. Our childcare center will be rated soon on the ITERS (Infant/Toddle Environment Rating Scale) which evaluates us in many different categories such as Space and Furnishings, Personal Care, Activities, Interaction, Program structure, Staff and Parents, etc.

This will give us a baseline on where we are and what we need to work on to reach our goal. Once we feel we are ready to be assesses again we will be reevaluated and scored. Overall this process could take up to 3years to obtain a 5 star status for our center. Which of course is our long term goal!! With the Sixpence Grant comes many benefits and requirements for our teachers to meet. One of these is attending a 3 hour meeting once a month during the week. If you are interested in helping us out and becoming a substitute or a parents that would like to come in during this time, please contact us. Substitutes will be paid for their time and parents will received a free day of childcare!! Anyone with questions about our childcare center or our preschool program may contact us at 308-254-9240 or email us at [email protected]. Don’t forget to stay up to date with us on Facebook - Kid’s Korner Childcare Ctr. As well! Sincerely, Tiffany Jones - Childcare Director & Callie Schilz - Assistant Childcare Director

Hello Everyone!! It’s Holiday time at the Center, great food, gift giving, fall and Winter activities, plus a great time for our area Silver Speeders to come to the Center! With the end of Fall and the onset of Winter, Center activities are geared to the Season. The normal daily card games, exercise classes, and wonderful meals will continue to fill the days. In November, Potluck and Bingo will be held Nov. 6th, starting at 1pm, and the Senior Dance will be Nov. 27th. December will have the Potluck on Dec. 11th, but there will

be no Senior Dance due to Christmas being the same day. The bus to Branson will be leaving Nov. 27th, and at press time there are still spots available. Remember the cost is $619 double occupancy. A couple day gambling trip to the Wind River Casino in Riverton, WY is in the works for this coming April, so stay tuned for that. As Christmas approaches, the Center will again be providing a day of Holiday crafts at Sloan Estates and Western Heritage. With the help of Sue Jahala, the Center will have crafts at the previously mentioned facilities the week of Dec. 5th. For Golden Living and SRMC nursing care, we will be doing gingerbread houses the week of Dec. 12th. The Holidays are always a great time at the Center, so as we move toward 2017, the Tunnel Walk is pretty strong! Until Next time! Scott Borcher

Benefits of a Gift Annuity Once established, income payments are made for life. Annuity rates (the rate for income payments made to you) are based on age and are higher for more senior persons. With the benefits of fixed income payments, reduced taxes, and an ultimate gift to charity, it is easy to see why so many friends consider the gift annuity to be the ultimate win-win solution in today’s economic environment. The Nebraska Community Foundation partners with a community leaders to inspire charitable giving, prudently manage financial resources and make strategies investments for prosperity of our people and our communities. The Foundation is a 501©(3) nonprofit charitable corporation founded in 1993. the Foundation provide af-filiated fund status to communities and organizations statewide.

What is a Charitable Gift Annuity? A charitable gift annuity is a charitable giving tool that provide you with a fixed income for life and leaves a lasting gift to your community or favorite charity. In addition, two tax benefits add value to the gift annuity. Second, part of each annuity payment we make to you will be tax-free! A charitable gift annuity makes it possible for you to increase your cash flow for the rest of your life (or the life of a loved one), and eventually benefit your community or favorite charity.

How Does a Gift Annuity Work? The concept of a gift annuity has been around for more than a century. A charitable gift annuity is an agreement by which you transfer cash or securities to the Nebraska Community Foundation in exchange for our promise to pay you a fixed income for your life. The minimum gift size is $20,000 and the income payments can begin as early as age 65. your gift works during your lifetime by paying you a constant and partially tax-free income. You can also choose to benefit someone else. For example, income payments can be continues for your spouse or another loved one after your lifetime. Upon the death of the last income recipient, the remainder of the annuity will be placed in a permanent endowment to support a community or organizational charity of the Nebraska Community Foundation, as you direct.
