SATs allow students to do paid work for an employer and train towards a recognised qualification while they are still at school. They are a great way for young people to explore their career options and develop skills and confidence in their areas of interest. Students wishing to undertake a SAT need to demonstrate the responsibility and commitment to balance work and training while completing Years 10, 11 or 12. SATs can contribute 4, 6 or even 8 points towards a Queensland Certificate of Education. Students undertaking a SAT work at least 7.5 hours per week paid work and attend school for scheduled classes. Training of the certificate units takes place in the work place, school or at an appropriate venue with their Registered Training Organisation. All training is free to students. All training modules and 375 hours of paid work over each year of the full time nominal term of the qualification must be completed to gain the qualification.
