want to get involved. Send Beth Sheets an e-mail if you can help: [email protected]

Hospitality: If you are interested in being involved in the fall conference, think about volunteering at the Hospitality Table. The Hospitality Table is responsible for making conference attendees feel welcomed to Toledo. There will be pamphlets and brochures about Toledo, as well as a Lost and Found, Message Board and Kiosk for important notices. Yes, it is Grand Central Station! You can volunteer for 1 or more hours. If you are retired, you do not have to pay for conference if you volunteer. You can even join us for a dinner if you are willing to pay. For more information, contact Karrie King at [email protected].

Banquets: Needs your help! And its easy! Help collect meal

tickets at the door. Help decorate tables (decorations will be made, just need a hand putting them on the tables before Thursday and Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast) Contact Nicole Myers [email protected]

OAEA TOLEDO 2013…FRIDAY NIGHT ACTIVITY POST KEYNOTE SPEAKER/DINNER

FRIDAY FRENZY GET TRASHED or PROJECT JUNKWAY Gather your friends at conference, from our own region or mix it up with friends from around the state! Form a team that will create your ‘ensemble’ in our creative evening activity. Your ensemble must be wearable! (and you’ll choose one of your team members to be the model) The local conference committee will bring some items to choose from, but feel free to BYOJ (bring your own junk)…ribbons, hats, sequins, tshirts, glue guns, feathers, boas, wigs, headpieces …the possibilities are endless. Hit up the Dollar Store and find some treasures to use as well! Teams will have a specific but limited amount of time to prep/create/accessorize their team ensemble and walk the runway in the Park Inn Ballroom to show the rest of the crowd. We’ll have winners and our own Oscars …. These might include:

Most Trashionable Most Bling Fugliest Material Girl (best use of materials) Landfilliscious Something with a play on words of ‘oscar the grouch’ Something with a play on words of ‘oscar meyer weiner’

“Speed ARTing” with your OAEA PR/ Advocacy Committee Toledo Conference Friday Night Super Session You have probably heard of “Speed Dating”, now try “Speed ARTing”! Circulate through this engaging advocacy event to meet, make, do, and inspire. Encounter simple methods to reinvigorate your advocacy practice in this exciting forum. Make, take and try a variety of advocacy items and activities that are sure to raise awareness for your art program and the art education profession. Organize your advocacy plan with appropriate support and scholarly research. Take away protocols for advocacy communication and action. This is where it gets really fun - Attendees will explore how printed and digital messages, as well as social media, can be used to raise awareness. Attendees who BRING THEIR OWN pre-washed t-shirt, tote bag, apron, etc. can screenprint unlimited inspiring art quotes. Why not bring items to print for your parents, students and administrators too? Attendees will also explore our do-it-yourself photobooth to take pictures of themselves with their art education ‘truisms’ written on dry-erase boards and with fun props. Why not use them in social media? Attendees will make their own foam frog pin

with a personalized art confession like; ‘runs with scissors’, ‘eats paste’, ‘colors outside the lines’. Why not leap into advocacy, too? Speed ARTing is THE place to be on Friday night. Get energized about advocacy through engaging and informal fun. Don’t forget - You’ll have even more fun if you bring something (pre-washed cotton) to screenprint.
