Student Experience: Ace’s Jr. Chef Competition

Northwest ISD’s Food Service Department encouraged elementary school students to use their creativity to develop an original, healthy recipe.

• Abigail Delicati won the 2018 competition with “Strawberry Whip Cream Banana Muffins.” Her recipe will be featured April 19 on the elementary school breakfast and lunch menu.

• She will win an Ace Cooking Kit and a copy of the 2018 Ace Cookbook. All students who entered the competition received the 2018 Ace Cookbook, a collection of this year’s submissions.

Student Experience: Aramark Lone Star Chef

5

• Aramark’s Lone Star Regional Chef Competition brings together culinary arts students from 15 Aramark school districts across Texas to showcase their culinary skills.

• Emily Claire Peden, Hayden Jones and Alex Schmuckerplaced Fourth

• In April, we will feature their winning dish at the High School Home Zone line as a premium meal and we will show case it at the NISD Food Show.

Community Support

• Fill The Bus– Collected approximately

17,324 pounds this school year. Roanoke ES collected 5,600 lbs.

• Reindeer Romp– Aramark provided bottle water and

healthy snacks to participants. We also had Aramark team members participant in the event.

• Angel Tree– This year, we supported one of our

employees and her family who lost all their belongings in a fire just before Christmas.

Increased Local Produce

• Texas Department of Agriculture honored NISD with the Best of the Bunch Award. Less than 10% of school districts in the state reached this level of achievement.

• NISD is partnering with FarmLogic to help source Texas produce.

• Digital menus at middle schools coming soon

• Providing Healthy Snacks to the NISD after school day care

• Made-To-Order Taco Bar and Baked Potato Bar at all Middle Schools

• Fruit & Veggie Bars at all high schools

• Expanded Discover Days to all grade levels 9

Community Partner Sponsorships

• Provided breakfast and premium lunch meals for the two‐day Strategic Planning Summit for students, parents, community members and educators.

• Support Northwest Education Foundation luncheons.  

• Aramark will provide breakfast and lunch to volunteers during Eaton High School’s Big Event. Aramark employees volunteered their time to prepare and serve food.

Just wanted to send a note to let you know how much we appreciate all of your hard work this weekend during the strategic summit. I heard lots of compliments on the food and presentation. In fact, Dr. Warren suggested that you add these menus to the board dinners at some point.
