Fall is fast approaching and we are gearing up for some very busy weeks!
There will be a Kids’ Coloring Party on Sept. 24. Coloring for Grown-ups will now be taking place on a monthly basis.
Karen Hamp is adding an evening Meditation Class on Wednesday evenings!
Licensed Acupuncturist, Ron Hough, will be joining us on Thursday evenings to offer Community Style Acupuncture Treatments.
Lisa Abrams will be presenting a special introductory class on reflexology and the benefits it provides. Join her on Oct. 7 from 1:30 to 3:30 and learn about what your feet can tell you about your health and how to massage your own feet.
The Kidney Foundation of Michigan will be offering a year-long program, My Choice, My Health: Diabetes Prevention for qualified participants. An informational session will be held on Sept. 20 from 6:30p.m. to 7:30p.m.
Explore ideas and tips for retirement planning during a panel discussion with the experts on Sept. 27 from 12:00 to 1:30. A free lunch will be provided.
The annual Flu Shot Clinic with the U of M Visiting Nurses will take place on Oct. 14 from 9:00a.m. to 11:30a.m.

MEDICAL LOAN CLOSET The Community Center has a loan closet with handicap items for seniors and others to use on a short term basis. We have walkers, crutches, canes, handicap toilet seats, shower chairs and wheel chairs. There is no charge.
FOOT CARE Dr. Anthony Mastrogiacomo, from South Lyon Foot & Ankle Specialists, will be visiting us once a month to check foot health, trim toenails, etc. Call 248-486-8886 to schedule your appointment.
COUNSELING SESSIONS Amy Marchant is a counselor and aroma therapist. She works specifically with women to offer emotional support and holistic solutions. She offers free 30 minute consulta-tions, by appointment, to answer questions and provide referrals, and next steps. Call 734-476-5024 to schedule an appointment.

GENTLE ENERGY EXERCISE 11:00a.m.-12:00p.m. RETURNS SEPT.12! Fee: $30.00/10 session punch card Learn the gentle and effective series of exercises known as the Energization Exercises. These simple exercises re-charge the body’s energy, and can be done any time or anywhere no matter your level of health or physical abil-ity.

MAH JONGG MONDAYS 1:00p.m.-4:00p.m. Everyone welcome! FREE! Learn this fascinating rummy-like game that uses tiles rather than cards. A small amount of time and effort is required to become familiar with the basic principles of the game. Stop in and give it a try.

Each class is a mix of stretching, strength and balance de-signed for anyone. Chair Yoga is done from the comfort of a chair or aid of a chair using some of the same moves as tradi-tional Yoga. Suitable for all levels.

Pin-points all aspects of fitness - cardiovascular, muscular condi-tioning, flexibility and balance. Great for beginners and sen-iors.
TAI CHI FOR HEALTH & BALANCE Sept. 14 - Nov. 2 11:00a.m.-Noon Fee: $36.00/8wks. From lowering blood pressure to improving balance, there are so many benefits to this low-impact, relaxing form of ex-ercise. Chair can be used if needed. Taught by certified Tai Chi and Group Exercise Instructor, Darryl Mickens.

Both child and parent will benefit from learning breathing techniques and poses that build strength and stamina, in-crease flexibility, balance, energy, and reduce stress. When parent and child practice together, sessions are fun, nurtur-ing, fostering affection, trust, and open communication. Mats are provided or you can bring your own.
GENTLE YOGA 6:30p.m.-7:30p.m. Fee: $52.00/person/10 sessions Reduce stress while increasing flexibility, strength, balance, energy, and positive thinking. Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows for easy movement. Mats and props are provided, or bring your own. A small pillow, bolster, folded towel or blanket may be helpful in order to sit comfortably on the floor. 2
MEDITATION 7:45p.m. - 8:45p..m Donation: $2-$5/class; $20/mo. If you are a beginner, or just curious, come and learn and experience several ways to meditate. See what works for you. If you are an experienced meditator, come and share tips and practice. Meditation works for many life-styles, and becomes even more powerful in a group.

ART CLASSES
ACRYLIC PAINTING FOR BEGINNERS Sept. 14, 21 & 28 1:00p.m.-3:00p.m. Fee: $36.00/person/3-week session. All supplies included. Pre-registration is required. Join artist, Joyce Cantalanin, and learn the basics of painting with acrylics. You do not need to be able to draw, just en-joy being creative!

SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM
The Senior Lunch Program is going strong and growing! Seniors aged 60 or over and their spouses can get a tasty and nutritious meal at the Community Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Meals will begin at 12:15p.m. Please call 24 hours in advance so we can get your meal ordered.
Participants are encouraged to share in the cost of the meal to the extent that they are able. The suggested contribution is $3.00; however, people 60 and over will not be turned away because of inability to contribute. Adults under the age of 60 are welcome to attend, but will be charged the full price of $5.50 for the meal.
Home delivered meals will begin soon. If you are interested in registering for home delivery, please contact Tami.
We are in need of volunteers to help with both the congre-gate lunches and home delivery. If you are interested in vol-unteering, attending the lunches at the Center or in receiv-ing home-delivered meals, please contact Tami at 734-449-2295.

Meditation has a reputation for improving health, atten-tion, and thinking ability along with physical relaxation.
If you are a beginner, or just curious, come and learn and experience several ways to meditate. See what works for you. If you are an experienced meditator, come and share tips and practice. Meditation works for many lifestyles, and becomes even more powerful in a group.
Karen Hamp, the instructor, is a retired Social Worker who has taught and practiced Meditation, Stress Man-agement and Senior Fitness for many years.
PRIMITIVE RUG HOOKING EVERY WEDNESDAY! 10:00a.m. to Noon. ONE TIME FEE: $25.00/ INCLUDES ALL SUPPLIES! Primitive Rug Hooking is both an art and a craft. Rugs are made by pulling loops of fabric (not yarn) through a stiff woven base. It is not latch hooking. This is a great recy-cling craft. Join us and try your hand at this historical skill!
