North Weekly News Friday, 19 June 2015 Term 2 Week 9 Riverina Cross Country Champion! Congratulations to Victoria who is the 11 Years Girls Riverina Cross Country Champion for 2015! This is an outstanding achievement. Victoria will now go on to participate in the State Cross Country at Eastern Creek on 17 th July. Debating Congratulations to our Year 6 Debating Team, consisting of Georgia, Samuel, Callum and Ella, who debated Lake Cargelligo Central School in the Premier’s Debating Competition yesterday, with a win. They debated the topic “Schools should teach health and fitness one day a week” and GNPS was the negative. Also congratulations to our Year 5 Debating Team, consisting of Matilda, Charlie, Samantha and Victoria. They also debated Lake Cargelligo Central School in the Premier’s Debating Competition and defeated them. They debated the topic “Homework should be banned in primary schools” and GNPS was the affirmative. Well done to both teams and thank you to Mrs Delves for organising this for our students. Year 4 Boramabola Excursion Deposit The Year 4 Borambola Excursion deposit of $50 is due by Friday 26th June, which is the last day of Term 2. The total cost for the excursion is $270. SRC K-6 Disco – Wednesday 24th June

K-2 - 5.30pm – 6.30pm

3-6 - 6.30pm – 8.00pm Our theme for the disco is “Choose Your Own Adventure” or casual.

• Entry fee is $2.00; • Food and drinks will be on sale. The cost

will range from $1 to $2 per item; and • Glow Sticks will also be sold on the

Kindergarten Enrolments for 2016 Come and enrol now! Enrolments for students who are eligible to attend school in 2016 are now being taken. Eligible students are those who live in zone and turn 5 before July 31st 2016. If you have a child or you know of anyone who has a child who is able to attend school in 2016 please ask them to come and enrol. Applications for enrolments are now being taken at the school office. Please present your child’s Immunisation record, Birth Certificate and evidence of residential address at the time of application.

P&C News The GNPS Lamington Drive will be held on Friday 7th August. We will need as many helpers as possible. Please find enclosed in the newsletter a roster for you to indicate when you are able to help out for the lamington drive. These forms need to be returned by Thursday 25th June.

They will be able to take individual photos of students. Please be there by 8.45am. Lost Property There are many items in lost property at the moment. If your child has lost an item, such as jumper, hat, lunch box etc, please come to the office and ask to look in lost property to see if you can find your child’s item. Also, if your child has accidently taken an item home that doesn’t belong to them, please return to school so we can try to find the correct owner.

Tennis Hot Shots Program Last week was the last sessions for the Tennis Hot Shots program. All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 have been involved in the seven week program with local tennis coaches. All students have enjoyed the program and have developed their tennis skills.

Riverina Touch Trials This Friday Lara will be trialling for the Riverina Touch Football Team. We would like to wish her all the best for these trials. GNPS Atheltics Carnival We will be holding our Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 21st July, which is Week 2 of Term 3. All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be participating in this day and are expected to attend. Permission notes have been send home already. Please return permission notes and $2 before Friday 17th July. If you are able to help out at the carnival or in the canteen on the day please indicate on the permission note.
