What is happening in the municipalities right now? Below different steps of climate related
activities in the municipality world
Challenge/goal
Assessment of form and substance
Strategy and focus Plan Implementing
Reducing energy comsumption
Model for screening of energy consumption
Strategy, alternative energyforms, isolation of buildings, traficregulations etc
Energyplans, plans for local area,traffisplans,
The implementation happens through the common municpality system and organisation for planning and implementing – this ensures a possibility running adjustment and feedback system in an itterative proces
Reducing GHG/CO2 emmission
Model for screening of energy consumption and on that basis CO2 emmission
Strategy for use of alternative energyforms, stimulating public transportation and bycycles, etc.
Energyplan, trafficplans
Need for reduction of flooding
Flooding map showing risk areas
Strategy for utilities, rainwater dams, wetlands etc.
Plans for sewage, water and nature, security.
Overall need for riskassessment of the municipality as a whole
Proces involving all stakeholders – climate games
Create overview of problems and possibilities for synergy
Plans formunicipality and local area
Wich for intern and extern branding as responsible and green municipality
Danmarks Naturfredningsforeningclimate municipality, Ecocity, Green city, regional cooperations etc.
Choose and focus on how to communicate and use the municipal climate initiative
Strategy for communictaion
Limited economic capacity
Assessment of alternative financing
Prioritise between funding possibilities and posibilities
Writing/putting together funding applications, establishing partnershipsetc.

NOBILITI – aim and deliverables
The project is composed of a number of activities and milestones that in its self are results and
deliveries. Including:
• a website with updated information on the project (
http://www.grontmij-carlbro.com/da/Menu/Ekspertiser/EnergiOgKlima/KlimaledelseAZ/Nobiliti/Nobiliti.htm
)
(http://extranet.gmcb.dk/projectwebs/nobiliti/Pages/default.aspx) • a round of interviews with key stakeholders • a SWOT analysis of the selected examples of intiatives and projects• a multistakeholder workshop on the wide range of plans and actions in the Nordic
community to mitigate, reduce and adapt to climate change,• a final report presenting a catalogue on best practices especially highlighting examples with
synergy effects between emission reduction and adapatation in the Nordic community• a paper on the intiative for publication in national papers for local municipalities
Thus a number of activities and initiatives together form this interactive and operational goal
oriented project.

NOBILITI goes west – aim and deliverables:
Overall purpose may be in discussing the differences of approach to this challenge that the greatest benefit and asset of this meeting may be found.
Deliverables – A Nordic / Canadian workshop
A workshop in the Nordic region with invited Canadian counterparts for mutual discussions of possibilities and experiences in the work with mitigating and adapting to climate change. The idea of the programme is to make a 3 day workshop with theoretical and practical discussions of challenges and solutions of climate change.
Draft programme
Day 1 - morningSelected inspiring key persons from municipalities and climate organisations presenting climate solutions and initiatives on both sides of the North Atlantic Ocean.
Day 1 - afternoonThematic workshops for discussing experiences and knowledge within specific themes and challenges as e.g. rainwater handling, alternative energy forms, organisation and climate management, health, financial instruments etc.

Arbejdsgruppen for Klima og Luft
These thematic workshops will be facilitated by specially educated facilitators that through structuring questions and organisation of the dialogue contribute to optimizing the out put of the workshop.
A gala dinner will be served with sustainable and Nordic food.
Day 2 – all day
Excursions to selected examples of successful and efficient climate actions – e.g. a way of handling rainwater that also lifts a whole city to become more lively and inspiring for its inhabitants; it could be green roofs, that handle rain water as well as isolates from heat and cold after need, the exploiting of surplus heating from server rooms etc. Dependent on the number of people the excursions should be thematically divided or present a broad pallet of different adaptation and mitigation actions, along which there will be plenty of time for networking. Rapporteurs will participate in each group to gather ideas and statements as a basis for the discussions of day 3.
Day 3 – morning
This morning session we will in plenum discuss the prospective and possibilities of Canadian/Nordic cooperation on the background of the two preceding days of discussions and excursions to agree on future action and possible need of informal network.
End of workshop.
Workshop proceedings presenting the result and recommendations of the workshop will be developed.

Synergy
A possibility for assessing a climate activity in a simple and communicative way –
here as an example we have taken rainwaterhandling in Augustenborg, Malmö. The
system of canals and Waterbassins have e.g. very little value for mitigation (0) and very
much synergy value (6) and is first and foremost an activity for
adaptation to heavy rains.

NOBILITI Challenges and questions
• How can the Nordic cooperation facilitate climate change
activities in the Nordic municipalities?
• What are your/KoL succes criteria for NOBILITI?
How would it be reached?
• In the best of worlds what would you wish that the NOBILITI would achieve
in the Nordic countries – perhaps globally? And how could we get there?
