Aldersgate in Mission
Fellowship Dinner Each Wednesday during the season of Lent (starting with March 12) we will have a dinner in the Fellowship Hall. Follow-ing these dinners we will have a speaker, most of whom being fellow church members. These are some of the most moving times we share through-out the year. Be sure to mark your calendar for each week!
Our next Sewing Sisters will be Saturday, March 14th in room 13, at 10 a.m. Sewers and non sewers are invited. We'll be making receiving blankets to donate to local groups which provide support to new mothers in need. Each blanket takes 2 yards of flannel fabric. Even if you are not partici-pating in our sewing events we welcome donations to support our mission projects. Contact Tracy Grandon at 483-1265.

The Missions Committee is very interested in combing activities with blood drives. Some ideas include Bar-B-Que Lunches or Dinners, Bake Sales, Car Washes, Yard Sales, Conferences, and other Mission Activities. The combination of the Bunny Brunch with a Blood Drive was a huge hit in 2014! In the event of Weddings, we offer Head-of-the-Line privileges for the Bride, Groom and Fami-lies. For more information, please contact Karen and Jim Stricker at 465-3803 or via e-mail at [email protected]

Confirmation Sunday May 3rd Stations Of The Cross Worship Service,
Thursday, April 2, 7:30 p.m.
Our Maundy Thursday worship service on April 2, at 7:30 p.m., will be "The Stations of the Cross." The service will be in the sanctuary, where each of the fourteen stations that have been prayerfully created by various artists of the Aldersgate and Grace Harbor cam-puses will be on display. The stations represent the journey Christ made from his condemna-tion to his entombment. The service will incorporate scripture, music, prayer and meditation, ending with Holy Communion, before leaving silently to reflect on Jesus' ultimate sacrifice for us. Join us for this touching, reflective, and inspiring journey.

On the Horizon ...
SKY has a Lunch Bunch! There is no sign-up necessary. Just come prepared to enjoy a meal with friends. We meet every month on the second Thursday at NIX restaurant in Churchland at 11:00 a.m. for a deli-cious lunch and lots of good company! Our original idea was to meet at different places around town, but NIX just “hits the spot.” The food is good and reasonably priced, so we keep going back. Next dates are: February 12th (bring a friend in honor of Valentine’s Day!), March 12th, April 9th, and May 14th.
Movie Afternoon: Friday, Feb. 20, 1:30 p.m. in the Youth Lounge. Movie title TBA. Each time we watch a movie, we also support a mission program. This time we will collect monetary donations for Meals on Wheels. In addition to serving meals, SKY now also prepares the meals served. Donations will purchase food for this program.
Moses: at The Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Monday through Thursday, April 13 - 16, 2015. Cost is $250 per person and includes: transportation, accommodations, side trip to Hershey, play MOSES, and complimentary breakfasts. (All lunches and suppers are on your own.) There will be shopping/sight-seeing time Monday after arriving. Tuesday is a trip to Hershey’s Chocolate World where we will each make a candy bar, see a 3-D movie, go to a chocolate tasting, and take a trolley ride around Hershey. The play, MOSES, will be Wednesday evening. Payments are due: first $125 by February 8; remaining $125 by March 8.
Just What Is SKY? What does SKY mean? SKY stands for Seniors Keeping Young (through Fellowship and Service). We do not have “meetings” and we do not take attendance! We arrange for and provide activities, projects, and outings that are designed with the interests and abilities of our 55+ seniors in mind, though we wel-come younger adults as well! How do I know what SKY is doing? You will see our upcoming activities advertised on posters around the first floor. In the commons off Bruce Road we have a table with information available. To pay for events that require pre-payment, SKY envelopes are available on that table. Just fill in the infor-mation asked for on the envelope, insert your check or cash, and place in the offering plate or take it to the main office and leave it with Debbie. What kind of things does SKY do? Many of our fellowship activities are repeated regularly (Game Nights, Movie Afteroons, the Lunch Bunch, golf & fishing trips). We plan both overnight and day trips. Some of our overnight trips were to: Lake Junaluska, North Carolina; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Freder-icksburg & Washington, D. C.; Graves Mountain, Virginia; Staunton & Natural Bridge, Virginia, & New York. . . Day trips have included Elizabeth City, & Edenton, North Carolina; Hampton, Newport News, Richmond, Windsor, Virginia Beach, & Norfolk, Virginia. . . What mission projects has SKY supported? Crisis Pregnancy Center, Meals on Wheels, Ugly Quilts, Up-per Room Living Prayer Center, donations to Oasis/Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless, KinderPrep Mystery Readers, card ministry to college students and shut-ins, ringing bells for the Salvation Army. . . What have you seen? Plays, alpaca sheering, museums, dolphins and whales in the Atlantic Ocean, Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve, Army Transportation Museum, traveling exhibits at Chrysler Museum, Fortress Monroe, historic houses, Christmas lights, planetarium shows. . . & more!!
Contact Dea Atkinson for info: 483-2660
Sign up for SKY activities and events at the SKY table in the commons. When making payments for events, please use our system of placing your payment in a SKY envelope, found on the SKY table.
