Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) refers to quality control testing performed on a material or component that does not interfere with the future usefulness of the product. NDT (also known as NDE for Nondestructive Evaluation) is a broad, interdisciplinary field that plays a vital role in assuring the safe operation of equipment and systems, such as bridges, airplanes, petroleum pipelines, and boiler tubing. John Cale an ASNT NDT Level III will be discussing 5 main non-destructive (NDT) testing methods used in the welding industry today: Liquid Penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, radiographic, and eddy current testing. Mr. Cale currently teaches a Non-Destructive preparatory class at Clover Park Technical College in Tacoma, Washington. He has previous experience as an x-ray shooter/film interpreter, an IRRSP Gamma Certified Level II RT inspector and Radiography Lab Manager mostly in the Nuclear and Aerospace Industries.
