I served there for my last posting as a long-serving bush copper as the officer in charge in 2007 (the stress of that place contributed to my decision to leave the force). I had worked in some busy places all across the Territ- ory but nothing can compare to that place. I say disappointment as it seems not much has changed with regards to support from upper management for the guys on the ground. I left amid what I best de- scribe as political head-in- the-sand approaches by pol- ice management. When I left it was among a cloud of accusations from my direct report (all unsub- stantiated) that I was not doing my job. For the record, my partner and I (two-man station back then) achieved statistics never before seen in that town (close to 100 people ta- ken into custody for offences and/or protective custody over a 10-month timeframe). When I left I did so hoping that the management and politicians would look favourably on the incoming members and help them with an increase in manning.
