As we near the end of another year, it is wonderful to see how much has been accomplished over the recent months. 2014 has seen the introduction of a newly designed public website, a brand new customer focused Brochure, a new Product Training Manual for Consultants, a new and very exciting product category with the introduction of Complete Balance™, and beautiful line extensions with our True Elements range. We have seen new President’s Club qualifi ers and the fi rst ever European Paragon Award winners – be sure to catch their stories later in the magazine. Paradoxically, it seems that change is one of the few constants in both life and business.

On the subject of constants – or consistency – I wish to share an insight into what can help each of us achieve a better business. Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.” This truth seems to be reinforced in our day by human behavior researchers. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (1996) said that creative achievements (and your success is most certainly that!) ‘depend upon single-minded immersion.’ Achieving a sense of ‘fl ow’ – that timeless-seeming state of happiness and concentration – is only achieved when one’s whole attention is absorbed.

If you wish to achieve success in Nikken, or perhaps more appropriately, if you wish to achieve greatness, it is

important to accept the fact that we must become single-mindedly absorbed in the joy of helping others to grow and prosper. And we must do that consistently, every day!

As we focus collectively on this great cause by working daily to help others in their businesses, we will achieve phenomenal growth. We will change the world!

My friends, I invite each of you everywhere to commit to a consistent daily effort in helping others achieve more. Setting appointments, giving presentations, adding people to your contact list, supporting events and giving product demonstrations are all things we can do a little of each day. But we must be consistent at doing so. It is the consistent daily activity that will make us truly excellent!

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and look forward to our 40th anniversary next year – a year of constant change and progress.

Many of you will already know about some of the amazing credentials True Elements™ has: Certifi ed Organic, 99% of our skincare formulas are natural and all of the seaweed we use is harvested from a world UNESCO site just of the coast of Brittany, France. This means that the seaweed is grown sustainably and with respect to the environment around it.

Before the seaweed is harvested, it has the chance to absorb all of the trace elements and minerals from the

sea that are so nourishing for human skin. Combine these active substances with Shea Butter, sunfl ower seed oil, naturally occurring Hyaluronic acid and other natural ingredients, and True Elements™ becomes a unique skincare range – and better yet, it’s exclusive to Nikken.

And now, inspired by the potency of the natural qualities of seaweed for hydrating, nourishing and protecting, we have developed three exciting regimes within the True Elements™ range.

We started promptly, and fi rst on stage were our event hosts and Royal Diamond Consultants Oddmund Berger and Morten Andersen.

Oddmund philosophically opened with: ‘Your attitude will largely determine your outcome at this event.’

Most of our top Consultants tell us that it’s the moment they ‘decide’ to put their all into starting a Nikken business that determines their success. There’s no half-heartedness behind it, and the amount of effort you put in establishes the level and pace of your achievement.

To start us off on the right foot, our very own MD, Ben Woodward, shared with us some of the future plans for Nikken: “I’ve got reason to be excited. What is the vision, and why are we here today? We provide people with a place to dream. A place to hope. A place for things to come.”

Ben outlined some of the things currently being discussed for the future of Nikken:

Future proofi ng - We’re not just building a plan but a strategic plan. We’re trying to create a stronger globalised brand, represented digitally.

New tools - Great new tools were available at the event, and are now available to all Consultants, but we aim to continuously improve on these in the coming months and years.

New product categories - These will make the Nikken business opportunity more compelling, more lucrative and more profi table.

“We’re going at breakneck speed.” Ben said. “We are committed to demonstrating in our own corporation that our strategy is built from the inside out.”

Following on from this exciting announcement, there was recognition of the fantastic qualifying period we have just had. Over 40 Consultants in Europe have achieved Silver Rank, and we also had two new Golds and our fi rst Paragon winners and one new Platinum. As Consultants went up onto the stage and their fellow Consultants applauded, it was amazing to see just how many people are achieving great things with Nikken. The lists seemed never ending – in a good way, of course!

Our motivational speakers started with Jean-Pierre Desroses, who told us how many people he has helped through Nikken: “As a GP I could help 120 people a month, although I would see 600 people a month. With this business, I have managed to impact thousands and tens

And it was nerve racking. Would Consultants like the tools and the products? Would they be inspired by the event as we’d advertised they would be? But on Saturday morning as we watched everyone arrive into the brightly lit registration area – over 250 people, all keen to ‘Design’ their lives – the nerves began to

fade away. Everyone was ready for new experiences and to learn from our top European and International leaders. Ready to experience the changing face of Nikken. Many also brought guests, new Consultants and people who had not booked in advance but that had decided to join us to see what we’re all about.

Page 5: Nikken family Magazine Winter 2014

After lunch, the Consultants gathered for the fi nal part of the weekend, where they would fi nd out how to build on their current success. Explaining how to build a Nikken business and create the right kind of team was Wolfgang Sonnenburg. And the three key areas to creating a successful business? “Rank – go straight to diamond, as then you have the right to earn 6 levels deep; volume – create volume through developing lots of people; and stability – create stability in the team.”

Mike DiMuccio continued the business building theme with ‘The Rhythm of the Business’. He spoke of the importance of getting new Consultants started as quickly as possible, of creating aligned activity between downlines, and ‘beginning with the end in mind’.

Then came the fi nal feature of the event: ALL OUT MASSIVE ACTION. It sounds impressive, right? And it was. Morten Andersen said, “If you are slow, your downlines become slow too, because they duplicate. You need to do the things that make your group grow really fast. Doing something big in the fi rst 90 days gives you something for the rest of your life.” Chris Gullo also emphasised this with, “Do it fast. It’s fun because you get results fast. Teamwork achieves more.”

There were three key choices to achieving your objectives with the Nikken Business that became apparent over the weekend: you make the decision to go all out and build your business; you plan with the end in mind, as then you have a

clear goal; and you build, motivate and inspire your team to do the same, meaning that everyone can achieve success together and enjoy the rewards.

The close of the weekend came from Ben Woodward, and it really captured the essence of the weekend: “Sometimes, the best place to start is by knowing that someone else believes in you so that you can be empowered to move forward. Remember, if you ever get stuck, we believe in you, and there’s always a way forward.”

We have a family mentality, which has never been so obvious as it was at the ‘Design Your Life’ event. Although this was a brilliant business building weekend, the same is true even if you didn’t manage to attend the event: We are offering the support, guidance and recognition to help you drive a successful business and to help you to improve the lives of everyone, everywhere. All you have to do is believe, and you can design your life.

of thousands of people through my team. This business has a social impact.” If you ever doubted the far-reaching infl uence of Nikken, here’s the evidence!

We then welcomed Barbara Cox on stage – Barbara is the nutritionist who we have developed the new Complete Balance™ products in conjunction with. She spoke about her time in Japan, her principles – The Perfect Ten – and the way she had been inspired to create Complete Balance™.

And we’re pleased to say that Complete Balance™ went down a storm.

Everyone at the event thought this product would be a game changer for their businesses, as it’s the ideal product to introduce customers to Nikken and to help new Consultants to kick-start their own businesses.

In addition to Complete Balance™, we also launched the new PowerMini™ – the PowerPatch® replacement – and mStrides, which will eventually replace KenkoStrides®. Then, of course, we had the new Product Brochure, the new Product Training Manual, the new Starter Kit and Welcome Email, the replacement ‘Wellness Today’ – ‘Why Nikken?’ – and the refreshed PWPs and Public Website… The amount of new marketing materials and initiatives were

overwhelming, and Consultants in the room were ecstatic when they heard about it all.

Luckily there was a coffee break after that, as everyone needed the time to absorb all the newness! And it was exciting to listen to the comments Consultants were making; so many of them told us over the weekend that it was just what they’d been waiting for to build their businesses – as we’re sure you all have.

Morten Andersen and Angelika Berger then came onto the stage to discuss their stories, followed consecutively by Tony Scoma, Chris Gullo, Mike DiMuccio, Alain and Aline Banon and Wolfgang Sonnenburg. The Consultants listened, enraptured, as our speakers explained why they’d entered Nikken, how it has changed their lives and how the Nikken opportunity has the potential to change the lives of everyone. There was humour as some of the leaders told us their start-out stories and how they hadn’t always gone to plan, but the main message always came to the fore: perseverance.

Later in the day, we welcomed on stage our new Gold Consultants and Paragon winners, Fredrik de Jounge and Fredrik Marthell, and the new Presidents’ Club member, Daniel Holmlin and Sussie Andersson. When asked what it meant to enter the Presidents’ Club, Daniel responded: “First of all, it’s a team effort. We get the recognition, but it’s a fantastic team. We cannot do it alone. And also, this is just the beginning. This is not only direct sales. It’s not only marketing. It’s Nikken. And it’s time for us to show the world what it is.”

We followed what was an extremely successful day with a successful evening, and the Consultants enjoyed dinner and a disco, letting their hair down before another big day.

Sunday morning saw the Royal Diamonds take to a round table each, answering the burning questions Consultants had about business building and their personal success. On one table, when asked about designing a successful Nikken business, Wolfgang Sonnenburg responded with, “Sometimes what you plan doesn’t succeed – you just need to fi gure out why it’s not succeeding.”

When speaking about Nikken and how she succeeded in the business, Angelika Berger told the crowd gathered around her: “The most important thing I’ve done is to change my paradigms – fear of fear – because if you’re scared and you do it anyway, it feels great afterwards.”

UpgradeHosted in the City of Lights, ‘Upgrade Your Life’ was the fi nal of three big events that had been held throughout 2014.

Your Life

Just in time for Christmas, we had some great new products to launch at the event and some exciting revelations about the Nikken business and where it’s headed in 2015.

Ben Woodward was fi rst on stage, welcoming over 300 Consultants to the event. He said, “One of the things that set Nikken apart is its core and its philosophy. We recognise that simply having a great cause is not enough. When you have a great cause with a great commercial sense, you have the maximum impact for good. The only way we can do that is to work together to change the world.”

Following on from Ben’s announcement at the ‘Design Your Life’ event in Oslo, he went on to expand on the changes that Nikken are making.

“We’ve been around for 40 years. We’ve achieved some incredible milestones. But what we’ve done in the last 40 years is not what we need to do for the next 40 years. We’re going to do something radical: We’re rebranding the Nikken business, and we’re defi ning a target audience, which will be refl ected in the branding and the messaging.”

Ben told us that over 75% of Nikken’s audience are women, so women who are 35+ will be the focus of the business going forward. He also said that the business is going to be more focused on digital platforms: A single website that is customer focused and that will simplify the experience of shopping for both customers and Consultants. Most people have a ready made ‘list’ of contacts on their Social Media accounts, so Nikken are going to make it easier to incorporate all the digital platforms into business building.

He talked about the misconceptions around the term ‘Network Marketing’ and how Nikken will be moving away from that terminology and focusing on collaborative entrepreneurship.

Following on from Ben’s exciting announcement, which is great news for Nikken business builders, we had some recognition. 2014 has been a great year for Consultant success, and Thomas Vestergaard Jensen, Head of Sales for Nikken Europe, opened the recognition with: “We are the only wellness company that provides wellbeing in every aspect of life. We have a good and well-proven compensation plan, and we have a lot of knowledgeable Consultants.” He then went on to present awards to six new Gold and two new Platinum Consultants, one of whom – Andre Andersson – was both a Double Paragon Award Winner and had made Platinum rank in only fi ve months, an outstanding achievement by all standards.

Nikken leader Julie Boger then came on stage to talk to us about her ‘Why Nikken?’ She said, “Why did I start my Nikken business? At that time I wasn’t looking to upgrade my life, but I wanted to put my boys through school. I didn’t want to downgrade my life to let them go.” Julie’s reason had particular resonance with the crowd, and she listed her top reasons why everyone should have a Nikken business:

• It’s an affordable way to start a business

• You’re your own boss

• You can join full- or part-time

• Education and training are included

• You can build the team to help you succeed

• It’s a proven system

• You earn what you are worth

After Judy, Rodolph Gagnepain, from Nikken’s supplier BCM, presented the benefi ts of True Elements™, the science behind seaweed and why it is perfect for nurturing beautiful skin.

Our new True Elements™ products – Radiance Scrub, Nutritional Mask, Anti-ageing Eye Serum, and Hand and Foot Cream – bring the whole of the True Elements™ range to 11 products and Nikken have created three separate regimes to help Consultants and customers to use and sell this fantastic range of skincare, as well as

introducing a new brochure and advert to support the products. We also had several great testimonials from trialists of the new products and range, and were told that True Elements™ had even been nominated for the 2015 Danish Beauty Awards.

After the launch of True Elements™, we had more great new products, with the introduction of our Synergy Bracelets and Nikken Watches. Both products incorporate

Nikken’s exclusive TriPhase technology, and Matthew Smart, Product Development Executive for Nikken Europe, presented the different styles to us – see more about them on page 19 of this magazine!

On Saturday afternoon, Daniel Holmlin and Sussie Andersson were invited onto the stage, where they were presented with an award and recognised as becoming a Diamond Consultant; their main tip for achieving success? Make long-term relationships and build your business with friends, not just acquaintances.

On Saturday evening, the Consultants were able to relax, as the gala dinner was laid out and they had the opportunity to socialise with their colleagues, teams and leaders before another action-packed day.

“Be prepared for signi cant change.” - Ben Woodward

“ ere’s always an excuse if you don’t want to do it. But if you do want to do it, there’s always a reason.” – Judy Boger

Page 7: Nikken family Magazine Winter 2014

First thing on Sunday, Consultants were treated to watching the new True Elements™ video as they entered the room, and then, continuing the product theme, our guest speaker Barbara Cox came on stage to talk us through the principles behind the extremely popular Complete Balance™ meal replacement shake and bars. Complete Balance™ was fi rst launched in Oslo in August and has gone from strength to strength over the last few months, surpassing our expectations. So it’s no surprise that the new product

stands in the foyer – True Elements™, Jewellery and Complete Balance™ – were surrounded by a constant fl ow of Consultants, all wanting to fi nd out more about the products and how they can use them to grow their businesses.

After Barbara’s presentation, the room was cleared and the enlightening round table feature took place, where

Consultants could circulate around different tables and ask the Nikken Leaders questions about business building.

In the afternoon, Wolfgang Sonnenburg came on stage to talk to Consultants about the Multi-Level Marketing business and how to make money from it. He said, “Make a Decision; making a decision changes your frequency. You see things differently.” Mike DiMuccio followed Wolfgang to discuss the rhythm of the business and how to keep the business action orientated.

With a standing ovation, our hosts, Jean-Pierre and Régine Desroses, guest speakers and Nikken staff came to the stage to wish the Consultants good luck and safe journeys home. Amongst raining glitter and sparkle, the ‘Upgrade Your Life’ event came to an end, with Consultants leaving energised and inspired to keep developing, both personally and professionally, in 2015.

Next year is Nikken’s 40th Anniversary, and celebrations will be held in Orlando, Florida, at our Believe. Grow. Prosper. Event. Make sure you’re there to celebrate with us, and in the meantime, we look forward to the start of another great year in 2015.

‘Upgrade Your Life’: Power of Women Q&AFor the fi rst time at a Nikken event, there was an all-ladies panel feature, where some of our top female leaders answered Consultants’ questions. Find out what some of the most infl uential female Nikken business leaders had to say below:

Q. You are all successful ladies in Network Marketing, so why do you think there are so many ladies involved in the industry?

Regine Desroses: Women do so many different things: looking after children, having children, caring for their families, having careers… It’s the ability to juggle these many hats that makes us good at fi lling the different roles Network Marketing needs.

Q. What do you think the best quality is for a woman in this type of business?

Bernadette McBurnie: I don’t think the question is about what people need to become to succeed. Women don’t need to emulate men. We have our talents, so don’t be afraid of who you are.

Angelika Berger: You should like people, whether you’re a man or a woman. Learn to fi nd yourself and work with what you’re good at. We’re all different, and we need to lead ourselves fi rst in order to be able to lead others. My personal style is not to compete with others but to be as successful as I want to be.

Judy Boger: The most important quality is the ability to have a vision. To see a possibility and then grow it, not just for yourself, but also for the others you bring into the business, and sometimes you have to have enough vision for others until they can create it for themselves.

Q. What is the best approach to develop people in your business?

Judy Boger: I think it’s important to appreciate the people in your organisation for the skills they have and

the things they do well. If they’re not doing something well, ignore it. When you do praise them, they will rise to the occasion and be better than they think they can be. If you can fi nd a way to improve the things they are good at without being negative, they will thrive.

Q. What were your initial goals for building your business and what kept you focused?

Angelika Berger: My initial goal was to make a decision to make a living out of Nikken. My focus was how I was going to get to the fi rst leader level and how I was going to earn 2000 euros a month. Then I went with the fl ow. I went to every single presentation and every single event, and this kept me focused, especially in the times when I was shaky or not sure what I was going to do next. When I made he decision to become a Royal Diamond, everything was clear and set, and I achieved my goal.

Q. We need people that want to start the business, but it’s hard for them to come up with a real why. How can I help them to work out their ‘Why?’

Judy Boger: Too many times when you ask people why, they say they want to help the world to be a better place. I say that’s impossible and I ask them: ‘If they had a million pounds, what would they like to do for their family or friends? What good would they do for the people they love?’ Many times they start crying, and then they start thinking about what they can do for their loved ones. That gives them a real why.

Bernadette McBurnie: Even if people haven’t defi ned their ‘Why?’ when they fi rst start, they shouldn’t be afraid of the opportunity and they shouldn’t expect success – you have to earn it.

Daniel Holmlin & Sussie Andersson

You’ve had a lot of success in 2014; what do you think the key drivers have been?Enthusiasm, tempo and simplicity. Some people have tempo and no enthusiasm, and some people have enthusiasm but no tempo. We also like to keep things as simple as possible when building our Nikken business, so you really need all three to keep achieving success.

What are the most important things to you when building your Nikken business? The most important thing is to build relationships, to make friends and have fun. We weren’t like that in the beginning. But we realised that Nikken is not about convincing everyone; it’s about fi nding the people who want to get involved. This is a different kind of business. You can be yourself, as it’s not about being correct. It’s not about what you say, but how you say it. It’s about transferring belief. The right intention will give you great results.

What are your tips for other Nikken business builders? When you’re a Nikken Consultant, you really have to be more like a fi sherman than a hunter. A hunter just sets his sight and shoots, whereas a fi sherman has to choose what kind of fi sh they want to catch, what kind of bait they want to use, what kind of hook they need. So many

people are hunters: ‘how can I sell something to you? I want my will to be your will.’ If you adopt the fi sherman stance, you’re thinking about the fi ve pillars in the back of your head when talking to people and asking them whether they have the perfect balance in life.

Take your inspiration from successful Nikken distributors. Talk to people to help you develop. It’s not about how you do it, just do it. Most people communicate from the head to the head, like a sales person, to convince someone. We then become nervous and pressured. If you talk from the heart, it’s easier. You’re not nervous if you call a friend, so treat everyone like friends. You cannot say the wrong thing to the right person.

It’s easy when someone does something fast. It’s one thing to reach a pin rank, but then you need to do volume and build something strong. Don’t let success go to your head and failure to your heart.

What’s next for you? We’ve been warming up, so now we’re really going to start. We have so much to do with Nikken – it’s an obligation. People scream for what we have to offer, but they don’t know that we exist. We have the opportunity to help people, and that’s going to be our ongoing focus for the future.

Say congratulations to the latest Nikken Diamond Consultants

WINTER 2014 | 1514 |

Page 9: Nikken family Magazine Winter 2014

Why Nikken?

I joined Nikken because of the business opportunity. Before joining, I was a business consultant and had my own fi rm, but I spent too much time working. Now, after joining Nikken, I have my freedom and the time to do the things I want to do.

Tell us the thinking behind Lifestyle Days?

In 2013, I attended the event in Orlando, and I asked every Royal Diamond there ‘How did you become a Royal Diamond? And how did you become such a success?’ Nearly everyone said it was due to rollouts.

With the new Sleep System, we don’t tend to use the rollouts as much, because people can feel the difference just by trying the sleep products. But I thought to myself that I needed to make more of the rollouts to grow my business. The idea had to be simple and something that everyone could do.

I meet a lot of potential Consultants, but they always tell me that they don’t know enough people or they don’t like to talk to people they don’t know. That’s how we developed ‘Lifestyle Days’, as they’re a great opportunity to help new Consultants introduce Nikken to people.

Our Lifestyle Days have proven very successful within our team, so we decided it was time to share it with all Consultants to help them grow their businesses too.

What does a Lifestyle Day look like?

We get as many Consultants together from the team as possible, and they bring massage couches and MagCreators® with them. Each Consultant invites guests prior to the event, either by phone or with a gift voucher we’ve created, and we ask each guest to devote an hour of their time to us. After each hour we swap over, and a new set of Consultants and guests then follow the process.

Firstly, we introduce Nikken: when the company started, The Five Pillars Philosophy, and an explanation that the rollout will only cover the ‘healthy body’ pillar. We also suggest that they can attend one of our other meetings if they want to know more about Nikken. We explain that the rollout is designed to make them feel the same as if they’d spent 6-8 hours in the Sleep System.

Secondly, each guest then goes to a couch, and the Consultant who will perform their rollout asks them about any pre-existing conditions they might have; we ask them to scale this discomfort from 1-10, with 10 being the worst.

Thirdly, the guest then receives a rollout. After the rollout, the Consultant will let the guest lie on their back whilst wrapped in the Sleep System and wearing the PowerSleep® Mask.

After about 20 minutes, the guests are awakened (if they’ve drifted off!), and they are asked about their levels of discomfort on a scale of 0-10. They are then given a glass of PiMag® Water and asked what they have felt and experienced. They usually say one of three things:

Alicetea speaks to us about

Lifestyle DaysA rollout for business:

In this article, Alicetea, one of our Danish Platinum Consultants, shares with us a well-kept secret her team members are using to successfully develop their Nikken businesses.

Our Lifestyle Days have proven very successful within our team, so we decided it was time to share it with all Consultants to help them grow their businesses too.

They may say their experience has been different to what they expected and that they can now go out and continue their daily lives with less discomfort.

Sometimes they say that they would like to own a Sleep System, meaning that they can then become customers.

Lastly, they may say that they would like to know more about the Five Pillars Philosophy and that they might be interested in the Nikken opportunity.

I believe it’s a good thing if guests leave the sessions with unanswered questions because then they are encouraged to attend another meeting, or they may even ask us to send them some further information.

The most important part of this process is the follow up, and this should be done while the experience is still fresh in the guests’ minds – ideally within 48 hours.

I’d like to thank the other team members that have contributed to the creation of the Lifestyle Days: Gittermarija Loiborg, Ann Mari and Poul Jenson, Birgitte Albrechtsen, Alexander Main Borg, Vibeke Haas and Lillian Hansen.

Good luck building your Nikken business!Alicetea Drachmann

My top sales tips for Consultants?

Introducing

Head of Sales at Nikken Europe, Thomas Vestergaard Jensen, talks to us about why he joined Nikken and his plan for the sales team in 2015.

SalesWhat’s your background with direct selling?

I have spent over 10 years in management positions within the direct selling industry, and six of those were spent as the chairman of the DSA in Denmark. This means I have a wealth of industry experience, particularly in growing sales within a market.

Why Nikken?

I joined Nikken because of the philosophy, the products and the Consultant compensation plan. Together, these three things create a company that has no competition within the industry, and Nikken has a proven concept that is nearly 40 years old. There has never been so much focus on wellbeing as there is today, and this means that we have the opportunity to grow to never-before-seen heights, especially with the help of our current and up-and-coming fi eld leaders.

In my eyes, Nikken represents what companies in the direct selling industry should be: loyal to the core philosophy of the company.

What does 2015 hold in store for the Sales department?

2015 will not just be our 40th anniversary. It will be a year where we’ll see big changes for Nikken, and the business opportunity will grow. New state-of-the-art wellness products will provide the fi eld with great door openers, great prospecting tools and will help Consultants to establish strong customer bases – something we need to focus on.

It will also be a year where we will be aiming to support the fi eld more and more. We want to provide more targeted incentives and help to local markets, taking different cultures into account. We understand that what works in one country won’t work in another, and we are going to look to support countries as individuals.

We’ll be focusing on leadership and sales training in order that experienced and new leaders alike are more equipped for the future.

Our overall mission is to create the no.1 wellness business in the world, and that takes cooperation between the fi eld and Nikken, but together we can do it. I have no doubt about that.

Don’t forget the Business 21 Club…

Below are some of the great benefi ts Business 21 Clubs offer:

• They’re a great tool for reaching Silver rank and getting your business off the ground

Don’t hesitate! Go to MyNikken, speak to your Sponsor about mentoring you, contact the Customer Services Team to register your B21 Club and then start inviting people!

The Business 21 Club premise is that it’s a powerful tool designed to support your business.

In my eyes, Nikken In my eyes, Nikken In my eyes, Nikken In my eyes, Nikken represents what represents what companies in the direct selling industry direct selling industry should be: loyal to the core philosophy of the core philosophy of the core philosophy of the core philosophy of the core philosophy of the company.

Why Sleep? The right quality and amount of sleep is vital to our wellbeing, but what does it actually do for us?

With longer working hours, busy family lives and increasing social commitments, there never seems to be enough time, especially to sleep. But there’s a lot that goes on while we get our shut-eye…

FACTS65% of us only sleep six and a half hours a night – 20% less than we did a century ago1.

Sleep has multiple benefi ts2

Do you know about your sleep cycle?

On a diet?

Heard of TATT or Social Jetlag?

Lack of sleep fuels junk food habits

A lack of sleep can cause an increase of the hormone Ghrelin, AKA the ‘hunger hormone’. A study from the University of California also found that lack of sleep could fuel junk food habits because it hinders impulse and decision making4.

Increases fertility

Boosts mental wellbeing

Wards off heart diseases

Boosts your immune system

Helps to prevent diabetes

Sleep occurs in cycles of lighter and heavier sleep, each lasting between 90-110minutes. There are two basic types: REM

sleep and non-REM sleep. REM sleep is the most important phase because it’s where all the things you’ve learned the day before are fi led away for future use3.

New research shows that the brain has its own network of pipes called the ‘glymphatic’ system. The glymphatic system is 10 times more active when we’re asleep than when we’re awake, clearing waste toxins, which have been associated with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, from our brains4.

TATT is the acronym for ‘Tired All The Time’ syndrome; up to 250,000 people have been diagnosed as having this syndrome in the UK alone, and doctors fi nd that this is the main diagnosis when people come to see them about sleep issues.

Social Jetlag – The time difference between waking up on weekdays and weekends. If you have a lie in at weekends and then wake up earlier during the rest of the week, it can put your body clock out of sync and create a sleep defi cit6.

Create The Perfect Sleep EnvironmentMost of us design our bedrooms based on things we like: the furniture, the lighting, the curtains, as well as the paint colour and the fl oor colour. What we often don’t consider is how these choices may affect our sleep. The below tips will help you to design your room to optimise your sleep environment.

Adjust the Light

The KenkoLight® incorporates a special ‘dimming’ feature that gradually reduces the light in your bedroom, helping you to fall asleep more naturally. In the mornings it can be set to increase the light in your room gradually to help wake you up. It also has an inbuilt alarm clock for a little extra help.

Peaceful, relaxing colours

By choosing gentle colours and patterns for the furniture and walls in your bedroom, you can help your mind to relax, ready for sleep. Make sure that your room is not too cluttered, as too much going on can keep your mind whirring.

Purify your air

During the night our body performs natural healing processes, so it’s especially important that the air we’re breathing while we sleep is as pure as possible. The KenkoAir® Purifi er removes 99.95% of pollutants in the air, and it’s also been measured at just 35 decibels on the lowest setting, so it’s perfect to leave on for even the lightest of sleepers.

Reduce noise

Try to make sure you remove anything that may cause interruptions to your sleep. This includes mobile phones, TVs, lights and other sources of disturbance, as broken sleep means you may not reach or have an adequate amount of the deep, REM sleep that’s necessary for total rejuvenation.

Remember! Sleep is not a chore, and many of us could do with a few more hours and better quality shut eye. Make sure you get enough by creating your perfect sleep environment.

Keep it cool

Typically, between 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit is a good temperature for sleep. Any hotter and it could mean you have a more disturbed slumber, which means your body won’t have the rest it needs to perform functions such as healing and memory formation.

The perfect bed

Comfort is one of the key components to help keep you asleep. Our Sleep System – a Naturest® Kenkopad®, KenkoDream® Quilt and Naturest® pillow – helps to provide sleeping comfort. Incorporating natural materials, it helps to keep you at a comfortable temperature throughout the night. It also contains Magnetic, Far-Infrared and Negative Ion Technologies so you’re embraced by an advanced, adaptive cocoon of natural energies that adjust to your sleeping needs.

After the lights go out

Not all curtains and blinds are blackout. That’s why we offer the Kenko PowerSleep™ Mask. It blocks out light completely, and the incorporated Magnetic Technology eases the tension around your eyes and face; this can also help to reduce the signs of ageing too!

We all like to overindulge, but now is the time to think ahead to make sure your New Year’s diet really works for you…

Let’s start with Complete Balance™

Go for the Greens!

The result of 40 years research, Organic Jade GreenZymes® is a long-standing favourite with Nikken Consultants. And we know why. Have you’ve ever been to a restaurant and looked at a ‘superfood salad’? That’s what Organic Jade Greenzymes® is – a complete salad in a glass. However, you don’t need to just drink it. We have developed some recipes that can be used in conjunction with your Complete Balance™ diet:

Grilled cod fi llet with and Organic Jade Greenzymes® pesto

Pesto Ingredients: 50 ground almonds, 150 g fresh basil, 1 lemon juiced and zest, 150 mls olive oil, 1 chopped garlic clove, 1 tsp Nikken seasoning mix, 1 sachet Jade Greenzymes®

Instructions: Blend all ingredients with hand mixture until smooth paste; add more olive oil to make a runnier consistency if needed. Grill 4 Cod Fillets and pour pesto over Cod. Serve on a bed of seasonal vegetables

Plenty of the right fl uids

Water: We all know it’s good for us, but do we drink enough? Many celebrities – Victoria Beckham, Miranda Kerr, and Gwyneth Paltrow, to name a few - advocate an Alkaline diet to offset the acidic nature of our modern eating habits. Nikken goes one step further, with PiMag® Water products that produce alkaline water due to the clever fi ltering processes. They also remove chemicals and sediments from the tap water so you can drink fresh, purifi ed water at home. And with our ingenious PiMag® Sport Bottle, you can also drink PiMag® water on the go – just fi ll it up from any safe drinking water tap you fi nd!

You don’t just have to use PiMag® water straight from the PiMag® Gravity Waterfall or PiMag® Sports Bottle, as you can also make it into ice cubes or mix it with some CiagaV® for a healthy fl avour.

Remember: For optimum benefi ts, you need to drink approx. 2 litres of water a day, so get started!

Take a look at one of the projects from this year:

Organiser: Lea and Aulis TegelbergProject: Healthy FamilyObjective: The purpose was to give families a chance to spend time together and for us support and encourage

them to feel better. We wanted to create a healthy, happy and safe environment for childrenLocation: Kuopio, Finland

Why? Nikken is based on Five Pillars of Health, one of which is HEALTHY FAMILY. When family is well, it affects the whole society in a positive manner. We need to have these fi ve areas in balance to live healthier and more balanced life. Humans Being More has been Nikken’s core already from 1975 and base for everything we do.

Benefi ts of the project: We wanted to create a healthy, happy and safe environment for children. We believe that every human or family is part of the society. When we help everyone to feel good, whole society benefi ts from it.

What did you do? Canadian author Miriam Laundry has written the children’s book I CAN, where she explains in the form of a story how we all can learn and

do different things in life. I believe that this book is good for us grown-ups too.

We want to spread this good word, so we read the story to a group of children. If children learn from early age that they can do anything, this positive attitude will stay with them through their lives. Both the children and adults then wrote things they can’t do on a piece of paper, put it a shredder and told everyone they can do it now. Our future is in the children, and we are responsible for their upbringing. We also donated Miriam Laundry’s book to the local church’s children’s club organiser and collected a small donation to help the work.

You CAN do it too!Did you know?

Pollution is one of the biggest global killers, affecting over 100 million people annually.1

Over 1 million seabirds and 100,000 sea mammals are killed by pollution every year.1

More than 3 million children under the age of 5 years die every year due to environmental factors like pollution.2

The Polar Bear Club allows Consultants to create and organise their own environmental or humanitarian projects that are close to their hearts.

It’s also a great way to get more people interested in Nikken. By organising a project, you are showing the world what we at Nikken really believe in, how the Five Pillars of Health fi t into people’s lives and the power of teamwork in making a difference to the world we live in.

You don’t have to do something big – it can even be a cleanup of your local community. Every small act today can have a big impact tomorrow.

Many of you will have heard about Nikken’s initiative: The Polar Bear Club. But do you know how good it can be for both the environment and society?

As part of Nikken’s commitment to total wellbeing, The Polar Bear Club was launched to help combat the effects of man-made pollution in the world, especially as human pollution has affected much of the natural environment and continues to be a growing concern.

Many of you will have heard about Humans Being More: Our personal development programme, which anyone can attend, customer and Consultant alike.

Designed to help you defi ne your goals and focusing on building your confi dence, this two-day programme helps you to realise your dreams through overcoming doubts, and it helps you to defi ne the path to achieving them.

We have three independent trainers for Humans Being More. Below is what they have to say about the programme:

Winnie Haag

Winnie, who has been a Humans Being More trainer for some 10 years now, was attracted to HBM after discovering the Masuda philosophy of balance and harmony. This philosophy helped him to think and feel differently about life. He is

now convinced that what happens to him is not simply luck of the draw but that his life experience is in his own hands, and it’s infl uenced by the way he thinks and what he focuses on. As a trainer, he is passionate about enabling participants to have a similar experience; to help them fi nd their uniqueness; and to help them towards inner peace, happiness and joy.

Alessandra Betti

Alessandra has been a HBM trainer since 1997 and has completed over 200 trainings across Europe, Turkey and Israel. Since becoming an HBM trainer, she has married, had two

children and has learnt to enjoy life. She brings all her life experience as well as plenty of humour and passion to each of her Humans Being More weekends.

Ann Vuille-dit-bille

Ann discovered Nikken in 2000, and once she had seen the benefi ts of Humans Being More Training fi rst hand, she jumped at the

opportunity to become a trainer herself. Ann has a wealth of experience in conducting the training, and she has experienced how the Humans Being More training has made her life fuller and richer and loves to bring this to others through her training. She encourages people to regularly attend Humans Being More to gain a deeper understanding of the training and of themselves.

When you’re busy building your Nikken business and balancing your daily life, it can be hard to attend additional training. But we believe it’s important that you are able to enrich yourself in order that you can become the person you are destined to be and achieve the success you deserve.

Hosting requirements:

• Be a Humans Being more graduate with an upline Platinum Consultant supporting your application.

• Commit to a minimum of 30 registered participants before requesting this training. This must be at least 8 weeks prior to the class date to ensure that Nikken can both arrange the event and market it effectively.

• Assemble a Power Team (defi ned below*) of at least fi ve area leaders.

• Complete and submit the following by emails to [email protected] or by fax 0044 1908 856 789.

• HBM Training Request form

• Power Team List

• Prospect/commitment List

* Power Team consists of fi ve or more HBM Graduates, assembled by the host, that actively support participant enrolment and help ensure the success of the class. The host will provide copies of the prospect list to each team member, who will use it to contact prospective students, encourage them to attend and secure their commitments for registrations. Each team member’s participation in the class, either as a student or assistant (max two per training), is encouraged. The Power Team will share ideas and suggestions on building the class and assist in promoting this signifi cant event.

Because we believe in you…

To ensure you don’t miss out on this valuable personal development course, make sure you or another Consultant meet the host criteria listed below and organise your Humans Being More training at your earliest convenience:

Our goal was to give further impetus to the business in the summer, when most people are relaxing and have the time to do something for themselves and each other.

By running a Business 21 Club, I met lots of people, all with different wants and needs, who chose to invest in their own health for both physical and economic reasons.

I am pleased by how successful the Business 21 Clubs were and the new team members we have gained from them. Annette, Trine and Mette were Seniors in record

time and have already started to help themselves and others to achieve a healthier lifestyle. We look forward to supporting them to help others fi nd better balance within the Five Pillars of Health.

The Goal: To learn from our uplines how an excellent presentation is delivered and to give our business a kick-start by speaking with as many people as possible about our new venture.

The Result: Once you get the ball rolling, everything else follows naturally and at an astounding pace – we completed 46 presentations during B21; registered many new consultants, including 4 seniors; and are on course to achieve Silver far quicker than expected!

Thoughts: A successful Nikken business is the result of team effort and the momentum that generates. Efforts to expand the business quickly are clearly key to future successes and, as such, we have committed ourselves to regular periods of ‘all-out massive action’ and to support our growing network of business builders in doing the same.

Why did we run Business 21 Clubs?

1. We wanted 21 people to do something good, where we could show them how to get more from their lives.

2. We are personally very active in our team, and due to this, we are able to optimise group activities, meaning our downline has grown as a result.

3. We are proud and grateful to have achieved this success; it is a nice feeling! The Business 21 Club is a great motivational tool, and one that has enabled us to build our business effectively.

PlatinumCongratulations to the following Consultants who have achieved

It is so wonderful to be part of Nikken and among like-minded, positive, ambitious and energetic people. I have been with Nikken since January 2003, but before I started with them, I practiced many professions: I was a chef, a therapist, a private entrepreneur and a practical nurse. In all of my professions, I provided services to others. Now, with Nikken, I think I’m providing the best service I can to my clients and team members.

Teamwork has also been a common thread in my life, through folk dancing, playing music and now with Nikken, and I think it is a lifestyle that suits me.

Our Sponsors Mallu and Jouko Saarinen encouraged us to participate in all trainings, business challenges and conventions.

In my fi rst year with Nikken, I participated in HBM training, and to date, I have participated 8 times. Each time, the course has been very rewarding. Every time I’ve been, I’ve learnt something different about myself as an individual, especially as I have always attended at various stages of my life. It’s incredibly important to take team members along on these weekends, as you learn a lot about your goals and how to move forward in life.

I participated in Gold training in Milton Keynes 2004 and, along with my daughter, achieved the Business 21 Club in 2006 and the Business Development Training Program 2007. We have also attended Polar Bear Club four times in Finland. In Spring in 2014, we created momentum in our business through various events we organised and a Summer day with the theme of “teamwork produces results”, where all our talented team were inspired to achieve their individual goals. The result was two new Silvers and our Platinum Consultants in June 2014, so many thanks to the team!

Ann and Kurt Nevalainen

Through Nikken, both Kurt and I have felt great improvement, both physically and mentally. Nikken has given us a whole different world and the opportunity to get balance in our lives. Our vision is that every few years at least 10 new Nikken families in our organisation.

Our three tips for success are as follow:

• First, always search for new customers and team members. Follow up! Give them that little extra that makes them feel special.

• Secondly, dare to question and challenge. Create Momentum!

• Thirdly, make sure you are a communication champion. Do not give up!

In May 2013, Platinum Consultants Daniel Holmlin and Sussie Andersson visited me, and they showed me the new technologies and the new marketing plan for growing a Nikken business.

I decided to become a professional Nikken Consultant again and make a radical change in my life, signing a new contract with Nikken in the summer of 2013. Together with my upline, we set goals for my business, and within a few months, I achieved Silver rank. From that moment, I decided to grow my own Nikken business again, sharing the opportunity, my experiences and the products.

In January 2014, I participated in the HBM course and got to see myself through different eyes. During the summer of 2014, we invested 100% and built 3 new Silver Consultants and a team that resulted in me being able to achieve the Paragon award. All of this is thanks to deciding to go pro with Nikken again, and I feel a big sense of achievement when I present the Nikken products and opportunity to people, even compared to 5 years ago.

Having the opportunity to change people’s lives through improved wellbeing and with the business opportunity gives me a great sense of freedom and joy. With Nikken, I can start my life again and do what I like.

Duplication of the Wellness Home and business opportunity is one of the most valuable gifts to share with people; it can help people to grow as individuals, and it can also help to improve the economy for the future. When people learn about the Nikken philosophy of ‘The 5 Pillars of Health’ they see the opportunity to shape their own future – the ability to ‘Design your Life’.

Achieving the Paragon award gives me incredible satisfaction because, when I help my team to develop, it proves that I have the ability to lead and help others.

My tips for building a successful Nikken business:

• Decide to listen and discover people’s needs. Find out what your organisation wants to achieve and fi nd a solution together.

• Keep your vision and set your goals. If you want to achieve something, take the decision to make it happen and don’t worry about how you’re going to get there – the way will become clear.

• Participate in HBM training because that will help you to understand yourself and defi ne your needs and values, as well as showing you how you can achieve your dreams.

• Stay in contact with your team all of the time. Help those who want to invest in a new destination and inspire them to reach their goals.

• Create a “Silver Factory” for your team, helping them to achieve Silver rank.

In March 2007, my life was completely turned upside down.

I was involved in a car accident on the Autobahn in Germany, where I crashed into a truck. I was in hospital for 15 weeks after the accident with a broken right femoral and a damaged back, and I was in a lot of pain during that time. While I was in hospital, it became clear that I didn’t have the right insurance, and this caused me some fi nancial problems because I had my own company.

For seven years after the crash, I was still in a lot of pain, and the doctors couldn’t fi nd anything wrong on the X-Rays, so they said that I was abusing the system to get money for my injuries; for the last fi ve years they have also refused to give me any more painkillers.

So, since 2007, my life has been a living hell.

In February of this year, a friend stopped in to say hello. I already knew that he was involved with Nikken, and I’d used some of the products before. I’ve seen his lifestyle over the years, so I asked him how Nikken has changed his life.

He put together a presentation on Nikken for me – and I was hooked. I tried a product, and my discomfort disappeared after only four days.

I decided to get involved with Nikken to spread the word; Nikken has helped me, and I believe it can help a lot of other people too – I would be an idiot not to tell people my story if I think Nikken can improve their lives.

During my fi rst month in the business – March – I became a Silver Consultant, in June I became a Gold Consultant and in July I achieved the Paragon award. My next goal is to reach Platinum.

My life is really great now. I have turned a hobby into a successful business, and I love the whole concept more and more with each day that goes by.

When I was fi rst introduced to Nikken years ago, I had major health problems. My initial career was in the computer industry, and with the various changes in this sector, I was under great pressure and I suffering from stress and poor sleep. Initially, I was very skeptical, but using the products has convinced me of their benefi cial effect. Due to economic changes, I needed to make a plan B for my career, and with Nikken, I have a risk-free option where I am responsible for my own success.

In May of this year, I made the decision to go professional with Nikken. For me, the jump to Silver rank was the fi rst step to fi nancial and time independence. It is fascinating to see the vigour and enthusiasm we work with as a team. I attend all the events I can and am very grateful for the support from my uplines.

When I was fi rst introduced to Nikken, I found the philosophy awesome. I immediately bought a water fi lter and KenkoPad® and KenkoQuilt.

Then I received an invite for the Stuttgart ‘Paradigm Change’ event. So I attended, and I was totally thrilled on the Saturday evening by Felix Gottwald and Dr.Naidoo. I realised that I didn’t need to have a title or diploma to build a Nikken business of my own. At the event, no one was interested in what I was but in who I was, and I was accepted as I am.

On the way home, I had the opportunity to chat in depth with Walty about the Five Pillars of Health philosophy, and I could see that I needed to make some changes to my own.

At fi rst I made excuses not to build my Nikken business, but Madlaina told me that I should work on reaching Silver within 90 days. I panicked initially, but then I started to build my Nikken business and achieved Executive within two months and Silver in the third month.

Today, I am my own boss. At Nikken, I am as successful as I desire to be, and I have support from my sponsor and my whole team. Nikken has changed my attitude, and I now feel joy and peace with the world and myself.

Thank you to the entire Nikken team!

When I discovered the concept Nikken nearly four years ago, I immediately saw an opportunity to take care of others, my family and myself, and improve my income. My limited salary didn’t allow me to enjoy adequate fi nancial freedom, and I was looking for ways to supplement my income.

My upline helped me to achieve my Silver Qualifi cation, and my mentors also taught me to consider that words are meaningless unless they are followed by action – this is my inspiration for building my business.

I qualifi ed as Silver early April by regularly working to build my business and through constant perseverance. This qualifi cation is the result of having a 90-day plan, the belief that I would achieve success and the support of the team, both uplines as the crosslines.

The team concept has taken sense since I work in Nikken. Working together has become for me a reality and a necessity for progress.

Being an independent Nikken Consultant allows me to take advantage of attractive additional income, and despite my rather reserved nature, I have expanded my circle of acquaintances and friends through Nikken.

Throughout this process, I’ve developed a real sense of personal pride for bringing value to the lives of many people.

My top tips for building a business:

• Use your team

• Learn by listening

• Never give up

• Be yourself

• Dream big

Believe. Grow. Prosper…Nikken’s 40th Anniversary Global Convention

With many of our top leaders in attendance, the ‘Believe. Grow. Prosper.’ convention will set the stage for a weekend of motivational speakers and a fabulous gala dinner to recognise the amazing achievements of Consultants worldwide.

The venue will be the picturesque Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel, Orlando. Nearby are Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld Orlando, so why not take in the local sights and sounds after attending the convention?

The Bahamas is also close-by, so after the convention may be the perfect time to take a well-deserved (and sunny!) break.

Set to be the biggest Nikken event of 2015, we’re celebrating our 40th anniversary with a landmark convention in Orlando, Florida, on March 5-7th, 2015.
